Lots and lots of parking down there.. No need to park at the launch if you don't have a boat. I would suggest parking across the street in the big gravel lot.
You'll need to define 'private water' a bit better. If it's a private pond, completely surrounded by private land and there are no outflows or inflows, then no fishing license is required.. If it's a section of stream for example where the owner has streambed rights (or similar) then all normal fishing regulations apply.
I think that might be your problem, lol.
Use them everywhere.. Rock points, shoals, dropoffs, open water etc... I can't count the number of big smallies I've got on spinnerbaits in the late summer fishing deeper humps in 20-30ft of water.
Lew, this is why some of us wait for the cold weather of late Oct/Nov to really start hitting the rivers. By that time the salmon are done and are most of the people chasing them. A little courtesy goes a long way on the river, just have a wee bit of respect for your fellow angler and everyone will get a long and have a good time.
