Well.... seeing as how I have some time on my hands taking care of my Oma I thought I could kill a couple of hours a day going fishing here in Brighton... Well.... Last year I renewed my fishing license and outdoor card.... but I never recieved the card in the mail. Today I went into the local home hardware to renew my fishing license and he asked me if I had my outdoors card... I said no it was never mailed to me... he looked everything up on their MNR "terminal" and they stated I had not renewed my card according to the MNR...? What the hell? I paid the money for the new card at the same time I renewed my license! He said to me and I quote... There is a reason the MNR has moved to this new system of issueing fishing licenses... it is because ALOT of places were accepting the fees associated to obtain a license.... But were not remitting the fees to the MNR... the paperwork you filled out to renew your license and card were trashed... this is nuts.! I will be calling the MNR tomorrow to report this and let them know last year I renewed my outdoors card... I have the copy to prove it... Be warned.... Fish Ontario on the 400 @ the service station... may not be submitting the required paperwork to make sure you are legal... anyways.... these silly "sticker cards" are just plain weird... I dont see them holding up in my wallet. G

Well I am in Brighton for a bit... and thought I better renew my license and try and do a bit of fishing to relax and get out of the house... I am staying in Brighton for a bit helping out my ailing Oma... (just had hip surgery... my Opa is in hospital and is not coming out...Both are not long for this earth in their 90's) Seeing as how I cannot stay cooped up all day... I thought I could maybe do a bit of shore fishing.. I am VERY close to the lake... but do not know the area at all... my Grandparents propery backs onto the Provincal park here... So I am wondering... where should I be looking to wet a line? does anyone have any suggestions? PM me if you dont feel comfortable sharing them here... I am not looking for your honey hole... but also wouldnt mind a tussle at the end of my line. Thanks in advance folks. G.

Where's The Best Place Locally to Buy A Bowmount?

Well it seems Fishing World has changed their policies which is great to see! I remember several years ago when I was looking at items they refused to match the prices I showed them... I am pleased to hear they have reversed this policy.... as I was very critical of them at that time and made it known..... perhaps common sense prevailed! Perhaps they may just see some of my business in the future, thanks to this level of customer service being offered. Thank you Fishing World! Mike... you cant go wrong with Jos... I went to him because of advice taken here after being snuffed a couple years ago by FW, in regards to their pricing... and the experience with Jos is worth the drive itself. That said... seeing as how Fishing World has changed policies... perhaps give them an chance as well. ? G -
People on the French are going to be some pissed off! G

Funny..... you are part of the problem. G

You have no idea what is coming....... Here is a small example of what we can expect in future years... G.

only two that I can think of that might apply here.... Shore allowance & building permit. but not 100% sure as the docks I have built had shore allowances already purchased... and they forwent the permit..... (permits depend on the township... organized or not, provincial regs etc..) but those would be my guesses. G

Dude... you kill me!

Looks like a reverse countersink to me... looking closer I see a Robertson head?.... Thanks for the heads up Dave, this looks is a carpenters screw... it certainly does not look like a pan head metal screw upon a closer look... Looks like a standard carpenters #10 or #12 reverse countersink...?? Hence the reason for the filler! I would remove this screw asap... as you risk galvanic corrosion and as said... Rivet and seal. Thanks for making me look a bit closer Dave it was not easy to spot. G

Nor would I suggest it... I am not fool hardy. more then likely grinding it off will cause it to break the seal seeing as how there is no head on this screw, possibly causing even more damage.... even if he ground it off and didn't cause further damage, there is already little to no bite (thread) left on the screw on the thin hull... and cutting the screw will make matters even worse....boats take a pounding and vibration.... His best option is to drill it out and rivet it. Or you can be his boat mate with a bailer in hand.

that is the last thing I would be suggesting.
