  1. I don't see a down side to that, Dan...........
  2. "wind or no wind" eh!!! When the ice is as bare as a baby's bottom, no snow to put on the skirts, and the wind is gusting to 30+++, PLEASE take a video of you setting it up and taking it down. Thinking I might learn some new curses.........😁 With snow on the ice and low wind, these pop-ups are the cat's meow, lots of room, super light, windproof, nice and dark for looking down the holes....but on bare ice and with a wind, they are too much for this arthritic old fart to handle. I never tired para-sailing and don't want to start now! Doug
  3. Must be tricky to keep the pressure from fluctuating!
  4. and my pressure canner, for that matter! All the cast went to the hunt camp.........
  5. I HATE those SOBs. NOTHING would make me go back to Bell. And their offshore "customer service" people who cannot speak or understand English. Don't get me started...............
  6. A close friend of mine did this a few months ago. She bought the house over the Internet (yikes!) and had to get permission from NB to transit through in less than a day, could NOT stay in NB overnight. I don't recall what the rules were for traversing Quebec, if there were any. When she got to her new home in NS, she and her pets had to quarantine for 2 weeks. No going out for groceries, etc etc but she was able to have them delivered. She likes it down there a LOT. Most "down homers" are good people, like folks everywhere. I'm sure with the covid Bull that newcomers/strangers are eyed with some suspicion, but if a person makes an effort to get to know folks I am guessing that will fade. No different from small town Ontario, if you are the new person in town. You might want to do a bunch of research if you have not done so already..............like talk to the local chamber of commerce, the town/region/township clerk, etc, IOW the people that really know the area you are considering. Good luck!
  7. well my education just got a bit broader. Never HEARD of smash burgers before..........but I guess that is pretty much what I do when I cook my own burgers or country style sausages. Roll them into a ball and press down into a hot pan. But not cast iron on my glass stovetop...........
  8. They are rich and entitled. And people like that are used to getting their own way, and don't consider other folks to be as important as them........
  9. WOW!!! "Happy Trails to you, Until we meet again......." Make sure to visit Moose's Saloon in Kalispell! I have a buddy who lives in Plains, MT, about two hours from Columbia Falls. He is a hunter and angler, and I'll send a note of introduction. Good luck, Rick! Doug
  10. Yukon Jack, Peppermint Schnapps, Irish Cream.................
  11. I have no idea how you made that avatar picture that size. But yes it is crystal clear when it is THAT size, just not when I was squinting at it in the avatar....
  12. fishingwithbob has better eyes than I have...............😉
  13. Sometimes it helps to have buddies in the outdoors industry............turns out a buddy of mine (Vortex optics) knows the sales rep for Eskimo, who knew of a Quick Flip 1 that was in a warehouse somewhere...............and it's on its way. Thanks for the advice, folks! Now let's get some of that hard water, eh! Doug
  14. Back to Rizzo... This is VERY interesting! And of course counter-intuitive. It suggests there are less people dying, overall, on average, right now. Amongst your professional colleagues, is there a sense as to why?
  15. Back to M2B2, you have been playing "ketchup" here. Good to hear you are out and about! Doug
  16. Seems to me that trailering a snowmobile is kind of like painting a bullseye on your forehead......... .............but I do not have a lake in my back yard (unfortunately) and do intend to drive my truck, by myself, to go ice fishing. Locally. By myself. And not stop enroute. Police have more important jobs to do than bother drivers who are alone in their vehicle and obeying all traffic laws. And I don't want to catch covid, nor do I wish to give it to somebody if I am asymptomatic, so I fly solo. And the Argo stays in the garage............
  17. Brian your computer is mal-functioning, doing misquotes and all that. 😉
  18. NICE photo! It has "Northern Ontario" written all over it!
  19. Wanzatika. Not sure of that spelling. We were there for a moose hunt, and did some walleye fishing as well. In a week I think we caught less than a dozen walleye, BUT I did shoot the only moose I ever shot. We did not see any bears, nor any other moose. There were a number of other issues as well, like only enough firewood for a day or so, and no chainsaw to cut more. We spent time that we should have been hunting or fishing, on gathering driftwood to burn in the wood stove, until they flew in a chainsaw and gas and oil. Good thing my buddy had rented a sat phone from them......... I would not go back.
  20. You guys and your pictures, I never think to take photos............supper a couple nights ago was pan-fried venison loin medallions, done nice and rare, about four minutes in the pan. Today's lunch was cold sliced venison loin on a sandwich with mayo and lettuce. Very toothsome. But somebody ATE the evidence...🙄 No pics. Doug
  21. I really hate mice, and mouse crap. We rented a cabin on a Hearst Air Services fly-in and it had a mouse condominium project inside. And when I asked about the boarded-up front window, "Oh yeah, there was a bear came through that last week with our last guests." 😮 So all things considered, I'd rather have the mice than Mister Blackie. But I still hate mice.
