  1. ooohhh...very sucky!
  2. Goin to work on Saturday...but the bags will be packed, 'cuz on Sunday, we're heading down to Cuba!
  3. that's awesome! the bass look like pike in the film footage, but then more like whitefish back at the lodge
  4. Or check the OFC classifieds!!! Someone was practically GIVING away their JetSled...for the price it was down to, building your own just wasn't worth it. I didn't buy it because I already have one, and love it, and if the wife wasn't 5'2" with cute blue eyes, I'd make her pull the second one!
  5. Ugh -- the old premiums were keeping me up at night...not good. If anyone is curious and wants a quote, just pm me.
  6. I just saved $200/month on my car insurance! Sorry...I know it's a total let down as far as posts go, but...WOW! I can't believe I just got my insurance payments cut in half!!! Every month! Aaaahhhh....gas money for ice fishing trips this year
  7. Glad to see you were extra cautious out there by yourself...and now you know where the walleye are...don't have to tell anyone about them either
  8. I wonder if it's Coast Guard certified...I remember seeing a few Helly's at the sportsman's show that were priced nice and low, but they weren't CG approved, which I assume would not make them flotation suits.
  9. Wow -- that is some crazy ice!
  10. I never knew they were also called Tullibies....interesting. So, I either have to find a way to smoke 'em, or try a bit of gator pike action in the spring with 'em. Thanks for the info I don't think they'll become my favourite species through the ice...but...you never know...
  11. When the herring season was open, what did you do with them? Are they edible? One of the smaller lakes I fish up north has a pretty good population, but I don't know what to do with 'em ,'cept let 'em go.
  12. Based on the way they work, you need a direct line to the lure...if the line is wedged between a couple of rocks, the lure retriever is going to stop there, and won't grab the lure. Current, stucture and lure size will make it different every time.
  13. That's what Lunker Larry said on page 2 of the "here's a pic for the naysayers" thread...seems to me to be a reasonable explanation as to why we see no pics of the measuring tape...I do believe Larry has been in more contact with the fellow who caught it than just message board stuff abck and forth.
  14. Okay ... that's with ice in your GLASS!
  15. Welcome aboard, Twocoda...glad you found us
  16. I'm amazed that it stands on it's own...that's balanced !
  17. You got it, Cram...the drop off can be close to either deep or shallow...the important thing is a major depth change. My ideal kind of spot is a point ,whether it's an island or from shore, that drops quickly...then you can pop a string of holes going out from shore, covering that drop. And yes, I'd love to come up if we can organize it I'm only a pm away
  18. I would have to say that Lakers would be your best bet...they're aggressive almost all winter long, and have no problem moving through all depths under the ice. Find 60 feet of water, preferably close to a point/drop-off. Drop a tip-up with 2 minnows on it -- one minnow within 2 feet of bottom, and the other no deeper than 15 feet. At your other hole, drop a silver spoon -- Little Cleo, kastmaster, arrowhead, sidewinder, wabler, WHATEVER. Jig it, with lots of pauses. Work your way up, jigging at different depths. If nothing hits it, drop a white tube jig, and do the same thing. If by now, you've caught nothing at either hole, move over a few hundred yards, and repeat Heck, let's make this REAL easy...just tell me when to meet you at your place, and I'll show you what I mean
  19. Yup -- if it's the one he's been asking for all year, it's definitely the one to get. And being a Daiwa, he WON'T be disappointed!
  20. I go for the lakers but this year I am determined to pull my first walleye through the ice...and possibly some brookies too
  21. Dang, that's one good thing about being close to Windsor! I remember hitting that outlet a long time ago...still have my $20 one-piece snowsuit! Thanks for sharing the good news, Bowslayer
  22. I think the best way to enjoy this thread is to ignore the negative comments. I am seriously excited just by looking at these pics...that fish is a tank! I can't help but try to imagine what the fight was like...what it must have been like when they got theire first look at it...how the heck they got it over the side of the boat. WOW! I've got muskie fever, and now it won't go away 'till next year!!! :D
  23. Not that you should have to...but good on ya, Roy
  24. Is this thread already going down the tubes? Really? I mean, what a spectacular fish -- is there anything more that needs to be said? 'cept, yeah, I sure would like to know at least what lure he was using. And with the waves, and darkness, it sounds like a heck of a story! Trying to imagine it is actually exciting...what it must have been like to be there.... wow! Just reading the thread on the board that was linked in with the extra pics...haven't got all the way down, but, it's plain to see there were lots of doubters there as well...they just eat their crow a lot easier, and with more class
