I guess Im older than you guys but back in the 50's and 60's I grew up in east end To , all the streets and parks were lined with giant elm trees , during Huracain Hazel (ya I was there , no don vally parkway , lots of houses in the valley , I was born in one) I remember we hid in the basement and a huge elm in the backyard fell (with our tree house)and took out most of our second floor . Dutch Elm Diease that we were warned about had arrived ,we all could see the trees were sick but when the winds came that year ,THEY WERE GONE. Now the ash treees that replaced them will be gone . When will we learn ????? . An urbin forest can be had but , we need to help it ?????

Remember a time when I was young and bowel strong , maybe Sinclair I could do that ... But as Rich said , NOT allways the case , and as you get old , maybe NEVER the case ,an icefishing diet is , lets say not conducive to constipation and more likely leans towards anal leakage . I was out on the ice in a back lake and the chille dogs and beer hit my lower regions like a japanese bullit train .Ran to nearest island and hanging out over a log let go , now in the summer you can just reach out a grab a leaf or 5 to do clean up duties , but it being winter and no flora around I decided to sacrifice the boxers , it ment removeing all the lower layers , cold but I managed .. Back out on the ice someone asked me for a light , WHY I do not know but I had brought with me the gold zippo with the engraved bass and the I love you , my wife had given me years ago and was my pride and joy . Check all my pockets , NO ZIPPO !!!!! Where could it have gone , damn must had been when I undressed at the log .. Back to island and yes under the uglyest pile of dung , was my pride and joy , will leave the search in a allmost frozen pile to you readers to amagine , never took it out icefishing ever again .. and somehow shall we say "THE BLOOM WAS OFF THE ROSE" and still a great gift from the wife BUT !!!!! Was glad they banned smokeing in restaurants was hard after dinner to hear , Hey Capt you still got that zippo I need a light ...

I'm with Terry , I fish the bog all winter ,have for many many years , had 10 huts at one time , too too much work now I'm old and just have 2 huts now ,one for me ,one for guests , and I very seldom get there before 9-10 o'clock , if you get there early maybe pick up a few at sundown , 5-7 oclock BUT the best bite comes around midnight to three . We hook up the truck battery with jumpers to the hut run a few lights and the tunes , wood stove going , we shovel out a ice rink for the kids ,good friends some cold ones , I can not think of a better thing to be doing on a weekend in FEB... Believe me BEST TIME is after midnight ...B.

I'm a beacher and nothing is greater than takeing a short walk down to the west end of the board walk and casting J9 and j11's toward the lake side and hooking 5-10 browns ( I know fishermen are Liars , but these guys I have known for years , speak of 20 fish days ????) in a 5 hour day and I have seen many Pike in the 40+ inches class , landed every day Im there . If you guys know ashbridges , now is the time , thru the years (and I still think it was wrong to stock these fish here with no where to spawn, BUT???) they have gotten BIG, my best is still 15+- pounds but friends have gotten way way bigger in the last two years .I'm too old to test the ice on the bog as I have done for 30 years but with the brown fishery and 40+ inch pike in a bay 10 minutes walk from my wife .. GET ATTER boys ... Was out two days ago and after the third brown the wife showed up with a large bowl of chicken soup and a ham and cheese sandwich , and the kiss that went with it ... HEAVEN ON EARTH ... Some times we look far away for something that is just right in front of us ...

I'm with Sinc , you rip us off for half a season and now I cant watch the few games you are playing on cbc etc. Leafs" tv "did they chop the price in half ??? damn , Baseball on the radio I grew up with ,and really when cutting the grass , chilling in the yard etc. haveing a baseball game on the radio ,NO problem ... HOCKEY is a sport that is made for viewing ... We all should have boycotted this season ,As much as I wanted too , watching last nights game , major wood ... Tonight a rob . One free game for a few fans and now they get a few dollars FROM EVERYONE with leafs TV , how many more of the few games they will play will they do this too???... SAD but I love the leafs and I will and have put up with this for , WHAT 8-9 years...paid the fare didnt get a ride ....

Sorry ROY did not wok for me , printed out a copy of the forum , put in wok with peanut oil and garlic ,the parts that didnt burn were not very tasty , maybe I didnt spice them right ...Please give us a recipe you use to make the new forum wok able ... lmao..... sorry roy but its late in the day and i'm in need of some humor ...

TJ I did not say you have to drive a race car (I do not want to agrue too ) to drive a car safely, fast ,or slow if you can drive YOU CAN !!!, but you should have the ablity to drive safely at any speed before you our allowed to risk peoples lives on our roads . Many many more people are KILLED by cars than cancer , mma ,knifes , etc. etc. or GUNS !!! . But we still give out permits to drive to people that should not be allowed on any road , let alone a highway, what ever speed you set !!!! LETS BAN auto transmissions in cars , and cars that go over 20 kpm , will save more lifes than any ban on AUTO GUNS ...So its ok that only a SELECT FEW can (i.e. the milatary) are safe to own BLACK GUNS ?????? Guess your select few beats mine .. ?????????

TJ in places in europe they did do away with speed limits , just because we here in north america let UNTRAINED drivers on our roads, we do need speed limits( cars dont kill people , people that should not have been allowed to drive in the first place KILL PEOPLE ) , dont give out drivers permits to people that CAN NOT DRIVE , and as I said limit the size of magazines, I agree with that, I have a plug in all my shot guns , BUT dont take awAY GUNS , an if we are to be considered civilized , LETS TEACH PEOPLE to be so .... The ownership of certin thinks or not oweing those things DOES not make you civilzed , what you do with the things you own DOES !!!!

Maybe Im wrong , (please show me where they are allowed) but I think that fully auto weapons are all ready BANNED . ??????? end of story .. My shot guns have a plug so I can only load 3 rounds , what does it mater what it looks like ?????? Please I'm in no way a "GUN NUT" if you have a FULLY AUTO WEAPON I do not think you need it . But semi's ??? they are and have been used by hunters (bird guys, like me I have owned a shot gun since I was 16 , never shot ANYONE) for as long as I have been on this earth, NO ONE HERE IS SAYING LET US HAVE AUTO'S , just stop takeing guns away from us hunters , and find a way to stop criminals from killing people !!!! Ya but must be a reel pain reeling in a few miles of line , and what size of reel do you use ???? You pin guys , what size spool to hold 1000 or more miles of line , now thats a "DRIFT", how do you know when to mend and than HOW DO YOU ???

As a charter guy , I get alot of how do you say "Inexperienced" people . The first year I started (long long long ago) I had large spinning reels ,Ya guys reeling in against the drag , can you say megga line twist .. So we changed to bait caster type reels, line lieing on the blank ,lots of brake offs due to this and people getting their thumbs into the line , line burn hurts I have seen the results .. When the Fenwick rep came and showed the spriral wrap , problam solved.Now if i can only teach guys to back off on the hook sets , too many rods broken on the bridge when a huge hook set slams the rod into the flying bridge .. lmao .. but where did these people get this from .. T.V.shows ahhhhhhhhh ....

Dude you got to loosen the tension on that Boga-Grip seams to be a little hard on the jaws .. Hope he did ok after a long reviveing .Hey guys a few minutes in the live well , will help in reviveing these hard fought catches ..
