  1. As I was going along from spot to spot, I was frustrated that Lure Laundry was not geting up on plane. I found out why when I pulled out. I had about 60 yds of mono wrapped around my prop. Please do NOT toss your broken line into the water, it hurts wildlife and ruins prop seals.
  2. So the big day had arrived, my brother-in-law the pilot / aircraft mechanic, was coming over to help me with my fuel problem on the other boat. The night before I prepped the boat, everything was ready for launch, (to the dock), I had no intention of going too far, as we were going to sort out this fuel problem once and for all! We get to the dock, launch and tie up to the dock, pop the shroud, I start the engine and he says, "Well I have seen enough, you need to rebuild your carb". Fuel is just urinating out of the carb throat. So back on the trailer it goes. Later that day...... The water bug is itching me REAL bad, so I hook up Lure Laundry, and off to Caledonia I go. I am fishing above the dam, trolling across a stream outlet, pulling a chartruse spinner bait, when BAM I have a massive strike from a 1.5 pound smallie. Ok, maybe I overstated that I had a ....... strike. I reel him in to the boat take him off the hook, and say Bye Bye. Later on across another stream outlet, BA_BOOOOOOOM this time it's crushing the scale at 1 pound! Smallmouth they are a great fight. I then decide to target walleye, rig up a slow death type harness and start to drift with the current, after the gobies are done tormenting me, I reel up and get my one keeper.........a scrappy 1 pounder, that is now digesting as I write this.
  3. Thanks for the tips guys! Where do I launch to be near Bait island?
  4. I see people shore fishing at Bayfront park, quite often. There is also a very nice free boat launch at that park. Cootes paradise is reputed to have pike and bass making a comeback.
  5. If tuna season is open, try to get on a tuna boat, otherwise makerel is were it's at. I have family on the island, and that don't help much...
  6. WHere are some inexpensive or even free! boat launches in the inner bay area?
  7. If you go to Valens they have wheel chair accessable fishing platforms throughout the park.
  8. That is the second time you have had that honour, however I am sure Cliff didn't toss you overboard.....
  9. Hometown Handyman is the name of my small business. My boat on the other hand more aptly describes me as a fisherman - "Lure Laundry"
  10. Go to Crossroads and look at those front decks that I told you about. Or you could give me $3000 for my JD 332 diesel and have a good solid machine. I use that thing for grading it is so strong.
  11. I had a client today that works in an executive capacity for one of our more well known professional fisherpersons here in Canada. I won't divulge his name as client confidentiality is important to me. I arrive at his home to do some installs and repairs, he greets me with 5 magazines, cookbook and a 4-pack of DVD's. I thought that was very nice of him, and I wanted to share it with you guys. This was the first time I had met the man and all I did was mention in our intial conversation that I enjoyed makeing fish laugh at me. Then he gives me this stuff, what a guy!
  12. I second that motion! Clarence is a good guy.
  13. That is EXACTLY the type of reply that makes this board great!
  14. If you want it it is yours, PM Gerrit to get it
  15. I wish that I was like you, and born with all knowledge required to do anything. The fellow asked for advice, there is no need to slam him, but the better response is to educate him. Jokco and Henry gave you some great advise follow that. As for the trolling motor plug, they should be availible from a marina as most maufacturers supply them for their paticular motors
  16. Yep he is, what a guy!
  17. Make sure that you show this to him. Us Dads don't always show it, but we LOVE appreciation. It shows us that we are doing our job right.
  18. This was help in place by gravity. I should have no problem making another one out of a 2 x 4, won't be as pretty but it will work just as well.
  19. When I have gotten the title of boat launch bozo, I launched at the grand river and forgot to take the transom saver off. It is now at the bottom of the Grand, I got soaked to the waist looking for the darn thing. As Homer says so well; DOH!
  20. That new style pedal that I gave to that guy? If you can find a use for them, go for it. They will not work with my motor, *sigh*.
  21. We want pics!
  22. Is there anyone who is going to Lakair that lives near Big Cliff's place? If so, I would ask that you could pick up my weed wacker at Cliff's and bring it to Lakair and then give it to Spiel so that I can pick it up at his place. Thanks a lot!
  23. Yes of course, fishing is very popular down there.....
  24. Because they are hoping that the seatcovers in the other boat are comperable to the seatcovers in yours'.
  25. No it is refered to as a "run for your lives screaming in terror of women"
