  1. Well, what can I say....I was skunked, and my wife out fished me. SHe caught the one pickerel of the trip, (.75 pounds), but I made new aquantinaces. We had neighbours that were kind enough to give me a feed of Bass....Yummy, and more importantly some very good memories. The lake is spectacular, both in scenery and in fishability. I do not have the skills, yet, but that will come with practice and experience. As an added bonus, I did learn more about what i want to get when I do finally make my boat purchase. Live well for sure and rod holders.
  2. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Mount Hope Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Try the lakeshore at hanlans point, I sure you will get LOT'S of nibbles , but maybe not the kind you want. Actually there is a pond that is north east of the "tee hee" beach that I have see some large trout swimming in. Might be worth a shot.
  5. Post the pic! You got me curious
  6. Nematodes are parasites that feed on grubs and other larvea. They should not be harmful to dogs or kids, in my opinion. Check out this link: http://www.nysaes.cornell.edu/ent/biocontr.../nematodes.html
  7. No I did not eat the goby's. Although....................one was kinda big....
  8. I spent the afternoon under the bypass bridge, (tethered to one of the piers), and caught TWENTY FIVE fish in TWO hours! 24 gobys and one 1.5 pound small mouth bass. Was it worth it?????? My taste buds say YES! I was fishing with worms on a pickerel rig, actually pulled in two gobys at a time frequently, lost it and changed to a sinker base - 12" high #6 hook and caught my bass on that. Oh, by the way the Gobys are on the shore, I found out that you do NOT throw them back........oops to all tight lines and keep her between the shorlines. Albert
  9. Fishing World is on Barton just west of Centennial. There is a young fellow there who appears to be quite knowlegable.
  10. I have a canoe, and live near you. PM me and we can set something up for this Saturday
  11. I hate to ask, but....... what is the difference between walleye and pickeral? I thought they were the same fish. Please don't unload on me As well, not only did you catch some nice fish, but you also had some pretty scenery in the boat....... She's a keeper!
  12. I would say that this issue is the same as animal husbandry, chicken farmers do not allow you into their barn if you have been in another chicken barn that day. As well, when I was working in horticulture, any diseased samples were brought into the nursery sealed in plastic bags, to PREVENT the spread of disease. Should we not execute the same husbandry with this resourse? Just my two cents
  13. what kind of boat are you getting rid of?
  14. shows how strong sin is in this world! Hopefully he will repent and change his ways
  15. As I hang my head in shame at your post, I realize that I had not posted any introductory messages about myself. Mid 40's, boatless (for now), am unable to fish as often as I want to but am finding more time. 4 teens, and work as a carpenter.
  16. Dont rely on just your cell phone as signal strength drops quickly out from shore.
  17. Actually I am going to Ottawa for a 1.5 hr job, and will be using the "free time" for fishing. Ah; the joys of self-employment! As to why I am going to Ottawa to do 1.5 hrs of work......call it client confidence. That is NOT a brag, they are just funny that way. Tight lines Albert
  18. Thanks for all the insight!
  19. Finally I have been able to make up my mind.......Some may say how is that possible!, and decided to go to Crotch lake for my one day fishing trip with my wife. Has anyone fished out of Tumblehome Lodge before? If so any advice? All I am after is a good feed, pan fish, walleye, eel would be great! What bait should I use, or what lures and what area of the lake do I want to hit? I know I am asking a lot, but just once i would like to have success. Regards and tight lines Albert
  20. Thanks for the advice
  21. I am planing a trip on Sept 28 - 27 in the Ottawa area, and would like to have some advice as to where I can best go fishing. I do not mind going to a lodge or resort, but am happy with a hotel. Equipment - 14' motorized canoe, pole. My wife will be with me so i am hoping the THIS TIME I can catch more than her. Species is not important, just good eating! Bass, pickerel, pike, or even good size panfish are fine. Thank you in advance.
