  1. Thank you sir and any others also.... Tom.
  2. Please, Please, Please be sure it is a pike you are keeping and not a muskie. If someone does catch and keep a pike that they are NOT interested in eating, if you can freeze it whole and get it to me I will give it to the OMNR Biologists for a stomach content research and also DNA testing. This will coincide with the research that Muskies Canada and the OMNR will be conducting on Balsam Lake over the next few years. You can E-mail me with the details and I will make arrangements to collect the specimen. Thanks Tom McCutcheon Release Director Kawartha Lakes Chapter Muskies Canada.
  3. Jef go to the "COOKS BAY ICE FISHING" forum and check it out. Peter runs his cabins out of Gilford. The last I checked they had about 3.5 to 5 inches of good ice. That was yesterday. Should be better after today. Tom.
  4. Geeze Mike don't be so soft on him. Give it to him straight.......LMAO.
  5. Geeze Ron that sucks.... When I broke my leg in three places and shattered my ankle I was on the river bank on crutches in three weeks.... Should have listened to the doctors...Never did heal right. like Dax said lots of pain killer and rest and then just wait for the real season to open. Get well soon. Tom
  6. I hear ya Jer. That's why I now just hook up the four wheeler to the fish trap...... No problem, the sleigh is available to you or whoever else would like it. Tom.
  7. Jer, I have a childs wooden sleigh with the back rests on it, it is what I used when I was younger and more energetic. It will carry a five gallon pail ( for bait and for tackle and perch/crappie) along with a small backpack etc. I put stainless steel runners on the bottom of the skis and it pulls quite easily. You are more than welcome to it if you want it. Just collecting dust anymore in my garage. I am just around the corner from you. PM me. Tom.
  8. Just a thought Lew. Is your driveway paved? If not you might consider a plow attachement for the riding lawnmower or ATV if you have one. Gravel and snowblowers don't get along too well together. Tom.
  9. Welcome Neighbor!!!! Not quite Lew but a lot closer than before. Congratulations. Tom.
  10. The only thing dangerous about that was trying to get Ron and Jef out of the hot tub after. Like taking a piece of salmon from a pair of Grizzlies Tom.
  11. Thanks for that Marc. First time I have seen that. This has been ONE GREAT YEAR to remember Merry Xmas Marc and to all OFNers Tom.
  12. The bay I am on is frozen solid this morning. Probably 2 to 3 inches. There was a deer walking down the far side late this afternoon. Still too soon to venture out though, open water at the mouth of the bay. If this keeps up we will be in good shape by 2010. Tom.
  13. Are you serious???? The reason for the open season on Pike is to try and cut down on this invasive species.
  14. Good advice from the south Take it.
  15. Is that installed? With the dollar the way it is, if installed that is a great price.
  16. Bumped up once more. Very fitting Terry and the first time I have seen this video. I will remember the sacrifices that the men and women of the armed forces make each day. Then and now. I write this just before heading down town for our own services in Peterborough to remember the dead. Respectfully Tom.
  17. You might try some of the lodges or camps. Scotsman Point; Pigeon Lake Resort etc. I think these camps are still open for business until November 15th.
  18. I agree with Roy and Dax on both statements. The important thing is the health of the fish and yourself. Don't skimp on safety.. They are expensive nets but worth every penny when you have that trophy at the side of the boat ready to be released. Tom.
  19. Good to hear you had a great summer Lew. We sure missed your BIG SMILE at our summer meetings. I have a T shirt for you that I will hang onto till I see you again. Tom.
  20. It is true that in many areas Pike and Muskie have learned to co-exist, however it is also a scientific fact that the Kawartha strain of Muskie is unique to that system only. We at Muskies Canada are hoping to save this strain. It may be, that the only thing we are going to do through our efforts is slow the process of Northern Pike entering the system. If that is the case then we may at least give the Muskie a chance to evolve and adapt to the presence of another large predator. Tom McCutcheon Muskies Canada Kawartha Chapter.
  21. I can't say for sure Roy as we didn't get much of a summer rotation. Temps stayed right around the low 70's all summer. If we get some frosty nights with some wind following I am sure the temps will rotate afterwards.
  22. Might be able to give you some info on Stony after the weekend. If you don't hear anything I did NADA. After all the rain we had the water levels on the Tri Lakes is up about 6 inches, and the temps are low 60's.
  23. Sounds like you are in good hands with the insurance guy (pun intended if with State Farm or is that All State?) Are they replacing your motor with new or used equipement? The reason I ask is it might be the time to upgrade to a four stroke, even if you have to pay the difference. Tom.
  24. That's scary... where bouts in missisauga was that? will keep an eye out in the Kawarthas also.
  25. Thanks Rich, nice read. My brother has been up there all week and I am going to join him this week. Hope we can put the hooks into the ones you missed. Tom.
