  1. "Lately, it seems that a lot more uneducated outdoorsmen/women are venturing to the near north (the 400 extension isnt helping)" I think what you have said is right on the button! Never thought about it till now tho!
  2. Hey Mike......I have used that line before, I find it a little to stiff, but youll like the lack of stretch and feel. Remember most flouro isn't as impact resistant as mono so try not to cross their eyes too hard! I bought some line conditioner to try out on the spools of flouro I have, Ill tell you how I make out.
  3. Good to see that they were caught but bummmer for all the hassle, seems these people are never caught, maybe there is hope after all.
  4. Perfect rod! Rod makers are finally moving to longer rods and away from the short pool cues!
  5. Like the guys have said, trolling large body baits in the 15 to 25 " range is the way to go. Concentrate on the primary drops especially near large food shelves. In another week or so aftera few cold nights try power trolling large spinnerbaits over the tops of large weed flats, especially on the first cold drizzly days. Large fish will venture up on these flats and start to feed.
  6. Pretty wild!! I wouldnt automatically assume it will die , those animals are incredibaly tough and if it didnt hit an artery it will probably heal up as the bear hibernates over the winter.
  7. September can be a tough month as it is a time of transition, find deep weed edges and you will do fine. Slow cranking a taildancer or running a bottom bouncer rig and spinner and worm are the two most popular choices this time of year. If your in that end of the bay you will most likely be launching in Trenton , its still a little early to fish the river but it still does cough up fish in the mouth. Try on the big weed flats behind CFB trenton, nice bass and some good weed walleyes in there, try to stay on the greenest weeds you can find as they will just be starting to die of now.
  8. The relish is the worst....like you said nothing but relish goo on my burger!
  9. Great lookin smallies!! Are they all from the same body of water?
  10. Thats a great day! May I ask what river?
  11. Every year I am green with envy. Always look forward to your post this time of year Thank You!!
  12. Man I wished I lived closer to the western basin. Oh well off to catch a 43 pound brown this week!
  13. I have to agree with CLofchik........ Having an obvious genetically modified fish is not what the record books were created for. It lessens other records by simply being included. It is exactly the same as comparing Barry Bonds to Hank Aaron....not right
  14. The "RedStar"....please...nobody take their info from this rag. Please go to a non biased source like the USGS or NOAA I think that was the point of this posting, that so many people and organizations have a political or financial bias that almost nothing can be trusted anymore.
  15. Put my tree stands out on Saturfay Brian. Spooked two turkeys out of the same spot. Someone has to invent a better way to put up tree stands....Im getting older and it almost killed me in the heat this year. Used one of those climbing slings but still dont trust it enough to relax in it.
  16. I simply can't believe any study any more, last week I watched a report on how this year the arctic sea ice didnt melt since it was so much colder then normal.....and it was!! Either everyone is lying or everyone is incompetant or doing it for political or financial benefit. It ranks up there with bird flu, west nile,SAR and now Swine flu. It would be nice to believe somebody!!
  17. That sucks Sam! Hell I misssed you when you were around the corner in Burlington. I hope everything works out.....most often it does!! Darren
  18. Holy crap man!!!!!! Great fish!!!!! Congrats!!! Now did you happen to get a pic of her with our team logo??? LOL
  19. Any livebait rig should work this time of the year. I always prefer a Lindy Rig and worm or leech. The eyes start to get pretty deep around this time of year. I would concentrate on primary drops in 20-35 feet of water. D
  20. Yoou might want to wait till we get a west wind to blow some of this warm water out. It has been piling up in this corner of the lake for over a week. Early runnning They will come in in good numbers after the next westerly blow that pushes this warm water out.
  21. I have caught a few around Quinte that have had that colouring. A few over 30 years that is!
