  2. Agree 100% , my nephew is a US marine (Staff Seargeant) with three tours of duty in Iraq, he is home now, and my father is World War II vet, he is 89 and I am very proud of them both ... nothing greater than to serve for your Country .. IMO

  4. Got a cottage rented last week of July on Drag Lake in Haliburton... i know it has Lakers so I am ready with my Dipsey diver rigs, other than that does anyone know how the bass fishing is ? Plan on practising with the fly rod as well off the dock in the calm evenings.

    With all the discussions here about better enforcement of the rules, the MNR is reducing again ... not sure how this will affect all the issues regarding better enforcement, but still it makes you wonder why ? the Provincial government flagarantly wastes taxpayers money on things like ORNGE and the Gun registry and meanwhile our natural resources get screwed ... http://www.haliburtonecho.ca/2012/07/03/scott-preparing-for-possible-mnr-office-closures
  11. I havn't used my flyrod in several years and am getting back into it this summer. We are renting a cottage up in Haliburton in a few weeks and was planning on practising my rusty casts from the dock early morning and late evening. What were you using for the bass ? most of my stuff is for smaller trout... I have a few streamers but no poppers, I have seen foam style poppers on the market.

  17. Thanks again Mike for brining us along on your adventure. Brookies are my favorite species as well, because my dad used to bring me along stream fishing back in the 60's and 70's, I am sure your son will have amazing stories to share with his kids. It must be more special when you can share a trip like that with your Dad, son and uncle. Bravo !!!!! Now i need to call Brad and enquire as well.... cheers

  23. Wow glad that you guys are OK and the kids never got bit, ..thanks for sharing your exeriences this really helps us become more aware of these critters ... I have been taking the dog for walks along the shore line , now I will choose another area
