  7. Yup bugs the hell outta me same with all the idiots who use my world as their personal ashtray.
  8. I've only fished Stocco once for a four day weekend. Managed 6 fish but no giants although I did get a fitty to follow. My fish all came casting parallel to lily pad fields in 10 to 15 feet of water using either a smallmouth coloured ZoomR (Not Made any more but one of my favourite jerk baits) or a black sucker/yellow tail Squirrelly Burt. Two of my fish did come off the outside of the island out from the boat launch.
  9. If its still in log form it going to need about a year and a half to season once its cut and thats probably still pushing it. Problem is no one really builds boats using white oak anymore. So there is no market for air dried material. It mostly gets cut up into Kiln Dried Qrtd White Oak and is used in furniture and millwork applications.
  10. Reminds me of that old joke... A musky fisherman is casting along a shoreline when a women runs yelling and screaming out onto her dock. " My Dog!!! My Dog!!! A giant musky just attacked and ate my little dog!!!" The musky guy looks at her ,pauses, looks at his tackle box, "What colour was your dog?"
  11. Why not just go angle them. Little bit of cheese on a hook in the creeks right in town here get us plenty for the fall. Keep them in an aerated bucket. Go catch them mid september.
  12. Thanks for that report. Gotta do that trip sometime.
  13. So my son (who has recently reacquired a desire for fishing) and I get out today to try to get a little fishing in before the storm starts. We catch some bass but nothing big enough to write home about. We go to another spot and I tell my son this hole is the only place on the Grand I've ever caught a walleye in the KW area. we work the hole with tubes and grubs and bam my son has fish on. Lands a beauty 23" eye out of the exact same spot I got one 10 or so years ago. Made our day. Just funny how one particular spot can produce a less caught species while everything around it is a bass factory.
  14. Its not the term rough cut your looking for its air dried. Try A&M Wood Specialties http://www.forloversofwood.com/default.aspx
  15. Its all relative in the Canadian justice system. Remember you can kill some one with your car and not serve a day in jail
  16. If you go to Stocco PM me and I'll give you a pattern that was very successful for us when we went there.
  17. Just read your from Belleville give Stocco Lake a try
  18. Head Lake Haliburton. Only spot I know that I will guarantee fish.
  19. Rich to bad Deer Creek Reservoir doesn't have them anymore. Icefish or the Niagara river in December right after the season re-opens.
  20. Ah yes the elusive Aurora Ive been three separate time to the Timmins area and have still yet to have a nibble. Nice bass though
  21. Sad news for you and your family. Honour the man and keep the tradition going.
