Real hard to tell what affect it has. I usually use clear blue stren but have used a variety of lines, including Golden Stren which was pretty obvious and unnatural. Different results on different days, the main thing was locating the fish and trying to determine what they would eat.

part of a Buckeye Fan`s body?

I don`t like tying the line directly to the lure on lures like Rapalas AC shiners, I use a duo lock snap but there is the Rapala knot. Baby torpedo is small I also use tiny torpedoes, small pool a fish caught on the surface may spook the rest, may start competition for food. Haven`t fished streams for a long time but generally the river smallies averaged a smaller size here 1 to 2 pounds, just down sized my lures.

What Do You Do With Extra Fishing Line
OhioFisherman replied to MCTFisher9120's topic in General Discussion
On some reels I use it for a backing, just don`t usually need 120 yards of new line on most of my reels, a Salmon may spool you not much chance of a bass doing it. Pike or ski probably won`t either. -
I used to fish the Pointe Au Baril every year in September for a week at least. One day you could catch them dragging a buzzbait thru the pads, the next day 20 feet down and no logical explanation for it other than they were following the food. Just my experience it is a mistake to assume they are going to be in a certain water depth, smallies may have a tendency to be in deeper water during daylight hours, that can change at night. I have caught l/m and s/m from the same spot 20 feet of water in broad daylight up there, reason? that is where the majority of the bait fish were. With the exception of Lake Erie smallies which can throw an average size off the scale at time it is unusual to see a limit of bass even down here in slightly warmer waters over 16 pounds, it happens on occasion but to bet on it? Small waters off the beaten path get much less traffic usually, larger lakes, unlimited horsepower here have bass tournaments all the time, sometimes two or three a weekend. Some smaller waters just don`t get the pressure. I don`t think there has been a state record L/M caught out of a large inland lake here in 40 years or more, they have come from seldom fished farm ponds. Just my experience the first good frost up there with stable weather following it rings the dinner bell. You have to experiment to know where to set the plate. Cover some water, different depths. It`s the same here.

Take it from someone forced by illness to stop working before I wanted to. Keep it in a safe investment as a rainy day fund unless you can handle some risk. World economy seems to be in turmoil wait a year and see if things calm down. Better a 3 or 4 percent return right now than a loss.

Bottom bouncers or worm harnesses?
OhioFisherman replied to HUKDONFAWNIX's topic in General Discussion
Depends entirely on what type of water I was fishing. Here on the south shore of lake erie it was never more than a crankbait. Water was wide open no weeds all that was needed and a lot of limits before noon. Had success with crankbaits in open water on the Georgian bay, trolling seven inch floating Rapalas, June Bug spinner tip with a crawler, worm harnesses tipped with a crawler. Worm or egg sinker depending on water depth. Also got them on minnows(slip bobber) and other bass sized lures. -

Parker Bros. announces it will sell it`s monopoly games with real US money, debt is making the dollar worth about the same as the play money. If you spend? sooner or late you have to pay? LMAO, the finest financial minds in the world? Just ask them!

4reel a news item here a few weeks ago, food places used to have to pay to have waste cooking oil hauled away, now it is being sold in some places for over 2.00 a gallon, and being stolen from outside storage facilities at food places. Miles and miles of interstate highways here, with lots of state owned land adjacent to them, why give the business away, put wind turbines on the vacant land.

Attempt to sell natural gas with a California Ballot Initiative Pickens owns Clean Energy Fuels Corporation, a natural gas fueling station company[26] that is the sole backer of the November 2008 Proposition 10 on California's ballot. Much of the measure's sale of $5 billion in general fund bonds to provide alternative energy rebates and incentives ($9.8 billion after interest) could benefit Pickens' company to the exclusion of almost all other clean-vehicle fuels and technology. There are wind farms in the states already more of them would be a good thing, but things like "could benefit Pickens company to the exclusion of almost all other clean fuels and technology"? Putting one man or company into an elitist position? Trading one monopoly for another? I believe the figures stated for Canada are the worlds second largest oil reserves? So much for the people of Canada and cheap fuel from your natural resources. It`s business, gouge the customer.

Morning Phil, ya saw the news reports from farther south of here not good. Still like 370,000 with out power in this area. Peg`s mom called yesterday evening, lives 1/4 mile from Lake Erie and said the police called and told them not to leave the house, downed power lines and trees blocking the roads. My yard has tree limbs all over it, lost one of my bigger maple trees, glad I put them far from the house, just waiting for daylight to check things out.

Told ya I was slow Brian, some dead people might move faster? Still in the barn with the spiders and dust. My daughter was here that knows how to do those things, computer went bad before we could and she left before it was fixed. She will be home for Christmas? LOL a lot of help?

It rained Friday and Saturday here Kemper, pretty hard and steady most of Friday night and Saturday morning. Not part of the left overs from the hurricane down south, we needed rain here, it`s been a dry summer. This might be left overs from the hurricane now tropical depression, Chicago got like 6.5 inches of rain in 24 hours, a new 24 hour record.

Pretty dang breezy here in northeast Ohio, lots of trees losing limbs, maybe headed your way? No rain yet today, but it looks ready.

My daughters boyfriend works at a meat packing place here in Litchfield, they also butcher deer in season he is going to check and see what happens to the skins and tails. Do does have buck tails? Lots of deer pass thru the place.
