Where to buy battery/trolling motor wires?
rhare replied to Fisherpete's topic in General Discussion
Percher has got it right 4ga for your batteries, dont cheap out. Do it right, sure it will work otherways but then if you have a problem you have no one to blame but yourself. I added a battery, switch and charging isolator to my lund and got everything from west marine, they seemed very price competitive. FYI this is not a cheap project battery cable can be expensive. Lake simcoe, without a question. Its closer and the fishing is more consistant then on Nip. I caught so many lakers last year on simcoe it was rude and that doesnt count all the big whities. GET A GOOD GUIDE, and you'll have a blast.

When I trolled around the Credit this weekend I didnt mark 1/3 the fish that I did 2 weeks ago. Seems to be slowing down but guys are still getting them.

Hit the water saturday to take some buddies out, thought I would head out to the Blue zone for some rainbows. Water was plenty rough out there could only troll east with the wind. Went 13/14 with a mix of small kings and bows. white/blue spinny with a skiens machine fly caught most off the rigger 55ft down. Sunday went out again, looked like a nicer morning. Got out to the BZ and the waves picked up again could only troll one way South. Hit a bow right away 22ft down before we could get the rods all down. picked up 2 more and lossed 2, one was a hugh bow that was peeling line.Water got too rough so we pulled up and headed into Port C. Fished 125-30fow, lots of bait but not many fish. Manged 2 bows off a green glow frog spoon. heres a few pics of my buddies and a group pic infront of my new boat! Cant wait for the big water next year!!!! Ryan My buddies first fish out riggin' they did let me reel in one! The new Boat and a few fish for the smoker

That is not actually true. The pictured fish has WHIRLING DISEASE. Whirling disease is a parasite that causes the deformed apperence of the fish. It can in some cases kill the fish. Most often the fish are stocked. I have caught Rainbows in Gbay with it. lots more info on the net. Ryan

The Blue Zone is a area in the Middle of lake O where the water has a bluish colour to it. Around 350-420fow.

thanks for the report. nice bows, I got a half a tank to burn this weekend so I think I'll give the BZ one more go

lots of private property around everywhere.

The Lowrance can also be a dual cone you just have to buy the transducer.
-
I have the Lowrance lxc27, its a great unit. I dont find it hard to use at all, has some great features. I like the dual card holders SD cards are much cheaper then buying the HD version of the unit. Tracks riggers well, I love the fast track view You can call the hits just before they happen.

Why does salmon have more slime and is more smelly than rainbow?
rhare replied to a topic in General Discussion
high water temps. Rainbows that stay in the river too long get nasty too. The fact that they are black and rotting to death after they spawn probably doesnt help. -
The handle is a little different too. Bigger. But other then that it is the 2500.

Im pretty sure it was broke twice in the last couple weeks. Both fish came from the American side. They are now testing to make sure they are not chinny/coho hybred.

The over all went to a U.S team from olcott team double play, Tom Letcher. I think team Striker won the overall series.

I was down in Port D fishing the king of the lake. Needless to say I am no king. Infact I had a real tough time finding any kings at all. The fishing for the Scotty was slow. Some real nice boxes of fish did get weighed in. I managed a 10# king saturday and only rainbows sunday. Great tourny though. On Monday I fished the blue zone for some rainbows. Managed 3 kings ( no doubt) and 12+ bows. I guess it kind of made up for the crappy weekend. One of the bows was just over 15# a new PB for me. It had a lamprey stuck on it that I beat to death in the boat. Its tail was so thick I could hardly get a grip on it. fished 400fow down 35-70 all fish on spinnies and flies. carmel dolphin/hawg wild and green dolphin/mirage worked best. here's a few pics enjoy. Ryan My new PB just over 15lbs

20ft leads work much better, too long and your lure is just going to drag bottom. Using flutter spoons like suttons and mooselooks with a single hook is best for bouncing. you have to troll real slow too. .5-1.5. I use a drift sock to help slow me down. check you line every 30min to make usre you have no weeds or small fish. If the fish are still off switch to nk's or other spoons, silver hammered, greens and blues 2-10ft off bottom. works almost everytime

awesome idea, I agree 100%. many of the board members have the ability and would love to take the time to write an informative article about their "speciality" so to speak. it would be like having an encycolpedia of fishing at your fingertips, and would be totally one of a kind.

Well I spent the weekend dragging my balls around Lake simcoe before you get the wrong idea I ment cannonballs. I hit the lake friday with a friend who has been doing very well for lakers in the summer on simcoe. He gave me a few tips and I was ready to try it myself on the weekend. The laker bite can be tough in Simcoe during the summer. I had tried pulling Nk's around with no results despite tons of marks on the finder. This weekend we decided to try my friends technique of bouncing bottom with the riggers. what a difference. Saturday we went 5/5 and sunday we went 7/11 taping the flutter spoons seemed to make the difference. fish went from 3-8lbs some fought very well even peeling some line. only snapped a few pics as we released a bunch at the boat no to do any more damage. Nice stuff bud, Looks like you where holding back at the club tourny. lol

I fish docks often, I love pitching senko's under docks its a great tactic for big bass. That being said I never fish docks where people are on or if people are in there yards. I have never left a snagged bait on a dock or a dock line or anywhere someone might swim.. If someone asks me to leave I apologize and leave. Sometimes its the cottage owners who are rude. Maybe they have had some run ins with some idoits but that doesnt give them the right to cus and throw things in the water. just my 2 cents

Buy the scotty 18" stackers they clip on the cable with a steel clip instead of a pad like some other stackers. They have a excellent release on them and olny cost about $10. Only downfall is they can fall off if you dont stop the rigger. I put my first rod on the inside holder(left) pointed just off stright. They stacker rod is on the right rod holder pointed out off the side. Make sure you let the line out around the first rod, not stright off the back or you will tangle. hope that helps Ryan
