decided to try scumbog this morn.goreski area most areas had about 8-9 inches of ice but some serious soft spot glad there wasnt to much snow u could clearly see them as it got brighter large dark patches accidently crossed the edge of one it felt soft used my scoop to pick at it broke through like nothing if i wasnt a light guy i would have been swimmin for sure it was an area of about 10 square feet.as it got brighter u could see quitea few of these spots use caution or give it a few more days.fished for about and hr then wham fish on the way it hit and how strong it was i knew it was a lunge after a short battle i got a look about 32inch got his head in the hole twice before i broke off.fished for another hour and nothing making a pit stop for lunch then gonna try for steel this afternoon.be safe and good luck.

i too have been robbed.before i got underground parking i had to leave my pickup parked in a lot downtown oshawa.ocasionally the crack fiends would rummage through my stuff.the first time they got my cds after that they got nothing because i left nothing valuable.but this was mostly my fault the truck is 20yrs old and im sick of fixing stuff the drivers door broke a few times handles,locks window winder so this time i said screw it now i leave it unlocked its too old for resale and like i said i dont leave valuables in it.

determined to fish today wind or not.skipped the first plan and stayed local.went to the bog arrived on the shore it was howlin to say the least.dragged the portable out drilled a hole an attempted to fish next heavy gust and im cruisin across glare ice inside the hut quickly fold er down and drive my cleats in to stop.okay so u wanna be like that secure all gear and fish of my chair for about 1.5 hrs no eyes and only a perch for my efforts so the diehard died.decided to take the quick way to shore got on the back of the hut one push and im cruising faster and faster reached shore in about 1 min was actually kind of cool rippin along with the wind.

for attaching a leader i use a surgeons knot simple and strong.

unless your targeting large trout or monster pike those cheap 20 dollar combos will do the trick.ive got a couple and they work for me no need to go over board for many years i used homemade ice equip.and it worked well.caught pike up to 7lbs and walleye at 4lbs.walleye are like wet socks in summer and even more sluggish in winter.my old walleye ice rod was a wooden bone with 8lb mono take a piece of wood notch a v in both ends wrap some line around it u got a walleye jigger.the musky in my avatar was caught without a reel hand lined it.this is the beauty of ice fishing u can keep it pretty basic.

spend the extra cash and get a one man.bought frabill recon flipover one man 179.00 at lebarons so far has been the best money ive spent for ice fishing.light 2sec set up holds all my gear kept me toasty on wed. when it was blowing and 20 below.used it 3 times so far and havent got any complaints yet.

smashin some steel mon and tues went 11 for 14 nice solid fish to cold today likely locked solid again.went to virgina beach on simcoe instead.i like to keep steelheading pretty simple 10.5 rod used to absorb the shock on the line.8 lb main line 4-6 floro leader trout can be line shy plastic float run shot beneath the float large to small stop atleast a foot from the hook i use a #12 hook for floatin roe or pink worms.sometimes beadhead jigs aka wooly buggers or other flys small tube jigs expierment find what works for u.
