  1. Now your thinking Mike! As for Canadian Sportfishing, they were #1 back in the day in Canada. No Doubt about it. TV, Mags, contests etc... but times change as with all things in life.
  2. Patience grasshopper... they are a tool.
  3. I haven't seen the US reels yet. I'll have a looksee. It's that time already!!!! Ok, I'll chat with Paul and PM you.
  4. Great rod advice, but for a reel, try to get your hands on a Diawa whisker 1300. Best pier reel IMHO.
  5. Is it possible to have a meeting with one person in attendance?
  6. Roy, can you lock this please, he's telling me what to do and I can't help but follow.. God love ya Lew!!!! Agreed!
  7. Not sure where you get your info from Mike. I am not a row boat local and use frogs all the time. As do many of my friends. They are a great way to locate finicky bass and catch walleye in the fall.
  8. Lake Ontario, not as many as in the past, however still a few kicking around. We get them incidentally fishing for browns and smallies.
  9. Whatever bait gives YOU confidence is the key. I have used these baits, are they my cup of tea, No. But to be fair, I haven't given them a fair shake, I rely on ole faithful. I am a fan of Lucky Crafts, why, becasue I have confidence in them. I know if I find fish, they will put them in the boat. If I was offred a potential sponsored deal with Koppers, then hey, I'd have to get confidence in them and probably would if I spent the time trying. Besides, as many many avid fisherfolks agree, it is getting on the fish that is the important part. A lure is simply your tool to get them in the boat. Fish see shilouettes, remember that. Unless you are simply on a cast and catch lake. Then a five of diamonds is killer!!!! lol...
  10. With Chirs' record on Rice, I'll bet he's seen that fish before.
  11. I work with folks as they get ready to retire. 98% of them wish they had done more to prepare for it when they were younger. Sounds like a broken record, but I assure you it is 100% true. And these are folks with very good pensions. I still have 20 yrs to go, but I have started to listen to their advice.
  12. The CarpMasters I am going to contact the Jolly Green Giant for a corn sponsorship..... just thinking ahead.
  13. I ran into Brian Burke walking through the ACC a few days ago around lunch time. Just off the cuff I said "I think you are doing great things" He smiled and said " I am trying, thanks" Here's hoping!!! That man has a great head of hair.
  14. For sure Lew, way to long. Looking forward to getting out with you this year! Brilliant, I may use the "diverson" line at the next show! Wow, great shot, of you and other lovely lady. I look like I am practising my "corn through picket fence" routine She's not just a pretty face! Sorry I missed ya Bud! Hopefully we can meet someother time. No time for the London show unfortunatley. Hope Kaleb likes his shirt! I'm call'n bull
  15. Thanks! You summed up the costco experience right there!
  16. No, this is for other warm water flows. It works for us and will work there. You may not need as much weight however. You will definitley catch incidental carp in the flows, no matter what you are using. But you WILL get bit more with the set up mentioned above and corn.
  17. Agreed 100%, but to be honest, I know Rice very well. And I still do not know exactly where all the pilings are. And if you are new or fairly new on the water, forget it. You'd have no idea you can smack a concrete piler in the middle of the lake. Even though there are channel markers, you can easily miss them.
  18. Is the meat there really pricy? I thought it was the opposite. AAA quality and thick cuts. I plead ignorant to exact pricing, but I thought it was very well priced. Considering you can by a AA top sirlion from a shopping centre for 7 or 8 bucks, on sale. Anyone know for sure?
  19. With the current we use a large egg sinker(2oz+) on a slip rig. If it is moving at all you get less bites IMO. So we run a short lead. Corn #1.
  20. Great advice so far.... but I suggest you name the boat "Shake n Bake"
  21. I found them the hard way too back when I was a teenager, so your not alone. I do know one gentleman you hit them with his bass boat. He did sue.. but the details I am not sure of. I shake my head and wonder why they are not more clearly marked since they are man made. Sorry to change the subject of the thread.
  22. Way to easy to get credit, when I was 19 I had a $2000 visa. Only beer and pizza racked it up. Worse thing a young person (19-25) can do IMO, is get a NEW car. Total waste of money. Buy used and sock the rest of what would of been your new payment into a savings account for a house. I wish I had that advice. I do the exact same. I get all the flyers on thurs eve, I go through everyone and price match at Walmart. Yep, Walmart. I hunt down all the "loss leaders" from other stores and stock up. It is work, but for the hour I spend I can save close to a hundred bucks, not bad for an hours work. As for the debt, I went old school 2 years ago, don't have the money, you don't get it. Plain and simple. It's tough, but that "financial" stress is GONE! Highly recommended. We have no bail out in our future. Fortunate there is no daycare either, she is a stay at home Mom. Good post bigbuck.
  23. Maybe he is just a savvy marketer trying to get more exposure for his sponsors logos... I dunno....doesn't make any logical sense. Now if he nailed one of the unmarked sections of the "train tracks" on Rice, then yes, maybe he'd have something to pursue. Brutal.
