  2. Agreed on both counts! LOL
  3. That's insane!!!!! Thanks for sharing!!
  4. Nice haul! Xzone products are by far the best plastics around!!! Mark is a class act all the way! Maybe another "local" brand can learn from Mark's example!
  5. With Saint John winning last night, that sent the London Knights directly into the Memorial Cup final scheduled for Sunday afternoon!!! Special congrats goes out (yet again) to my sister's bf Austin Watson. He has been the 1st star in 2 of the 3 games that London has played in the Memorial Cup, to go along with his OHL Playoff MVP. Hopefully this fall he crack's the Nashville Preds lineup! Best of luck in the finals Knights! Bring the title home to Ontario!
  6. Great report! Looks amazing up there!
  7. Very nice gesture on his part to thank you for taking him out! Sounds like a decent guy for sure! Aren't the Vibrax models, spinners? I dont see a "mid depth" model on Blue Fox's Website ? Edit - typo
  8. Check out BIG BEAR rods! Their handle is second to none on the market! Extremely nice rods for fair prices too!
  9. LA - 2012 Cup Champs! They're a great team who works their 's off! Def well deserved!
  10. I'm gonna have to disagree with that statement.... planer boards this time of year are actually a great bet to land a monster. It's not the boards, its the baits. Instead of trolling with "banana baits" (reef runner type baits), switch to more compact "shad" imitating baits in the spring. Literally 2 years ago this past weekend, I won a decent sized tournament on Quinte using CC Shads & Flicker Shads behind planer boards. And from what I hear, last year and this year of that same tournament were also won trolling crankbaits using planer boards.
  11. YUP!!! Rice was ON FIRE this past weekend for Walleye! Took the wife out on Saturday and we hammered them all day long. I talked to 3 buddies that were also out over the weekend, and same thing from them... they hammered them as well! Find a weedline in 8-12 feet of water, throw bucktails, crankbaits, jig&grubs along the edge and HANG on! Almost every fish we caught really hit the bait hard, no matter what it was. Bucktails - cast/pitch out along the weedline, let it sink to the bottom and short, SHARP rips/hops off bottom seemed to be the key for us.
  12. Back to the ACTUAL question... Typical setup for drop-shotting: Rod - 7ft to 7.5ft ML to Med rod Reel - personal preference, but most people use spinning gear to allow for smaller diameter line (same can be achieved by using a flouro leader if using a bait-casting outfit) Line - the thinnest you can get away with, typically 6-8 lb flouro Hooks - Stringease "Zero Twist" hooks are amazing. Same idea as the VMC spinshot, where they both eliminate line twist by being able to rotate 360 degrees. The other hooks I use are the "Stand-out" dropshot hooks that have an extra "arm" that you pass your tag end through, to eliminate the hook from "turning" upside down during your presentation. Baits - almost anything, but Xzone "Slammers" are by far the most popular (and top producing) baits around the Great Lakes region. There's quite a few "knock offs" of the slammer out there as well. Gulp minnows, finesse worms, Fin-S fish, etc are also great options. Techniques - As with any technique, everyone has their "own" way to do things. Typically, I try to move the bait as little as possible and have it just "hover" in place for a lengthy period of time. If the fish won't commit to the "dead stick" approach, I'll impart a slight "shake" to the bait, followed by a pause. Recognizing a strike - a lot of the time it will be a "dead weight" feeling on the end of your line. Other times you can feel the standard "thump" of a fish striking. I've also had my line just take off and start "swimming" away.
  13. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!
  14. I think most of us agree with that one!
  15. Can totally appreciate where you're coming from and I agree that it's a sad situation... but Thunder Bay is a LITTLE different than Burlington. Like stated before, it's about public safety. Good to hear that the meat isn't going to waste.
  16. I hear marshmallows work great.....
  17. My fishing "goal" is catch a true "trophy" fish in the major "sport fish" species. Here are my trophies so far: - Largemouth Bass (9.6 lbs) - Smallmouth Bass (6.2 lbs) - Walleye (12.6 lbs) - Perch (1.8 lbs) - Rainbow Trout (non-great lake) (15.2 lbs) - Chinook Salmon (non-great lake) (18.4 lbs) - Pike (42 inches) Goals still to attain: - 50" musky (biggest is only 38") - 10 lb largemouth
  18. If you're going to do it... dont waste your time with anything BUT the Hero 2. Well worth the extra little bit. They can be kinda hard to find though. I've been looking for a 2nd one for a while now. As far as going down in price... probably not gonna happen for the Hero 2, since its brand new.
  19. Beauty fish!!!! Def calls for a replica hanging on the wall!
  20. There's a few Canadian-based online retailers now..... No duties, and quick shipping times!
  21. Austin received a call from Don Cherry himself on Saturday telling him to tune into "Coaches Corner". How cool is that?!?!?! Grapes did a great job showcasing just how great the Knights/Austin played.
  22. Yes, I believe it is. They did an amazing job putting together such a powerhouse of a team.
  23. Haven't had a complaint yet!
