If you felt generous to yourself you could also consider a higher priced/higher quality reel such as the Shimano Tekota. They also make the Tekota in a Line Counter model. They are pricey, but I believe in buying quality gear. You only get so many days to fish a year, the last thing you need is equipment failure when the bite is hot. The Convectors had drag washer problems as well before but I think Okuma remedied that problem Cheers, Tony

It is my belief that the government needs to lead the change for a greener lifestyle. Unfortunately that will not happen until fossil fuels dissappear and the business community changes their ways. I think there is a lack of knowledge and education going on to promote respect for the environment as well. Why do people pollute their drinking water?...Maybe start by not selling bottled water??? When they realize the water they drink comes from the community they live in, maybe they would take care to ensure clean waterways? I know it seems rediculous but maybe the thousands of people that threw their sample yogurt containers in Lake Ontario last summer at the Sound of Music festival in Burlington would think twice? I wanted to go to their residence and cut the top off their "crystal springs" water jug and throw that crap in it and get them to drink a glass Why do moms of asthmatic children drive SUV's? Why do people litter where they go fishing? Is a pristine environment so bad to fish in that they must make it ugly be leaving their hook packs, water bottles (another reason to not sell water in bottles lol), cigarette butts, fishing line, chip bags, worm containers, etc, etc. Frustrating really... I can't wait to see the Musky episode with the Day of the Giants caught on film! Tony -
Hopefully I can get involved this year, I missed the cutoff last year and didn't get to enter some bigguns I got this year. Cheers, Tony

Deformed mouth/head on this Steelhead. But obviously a healthy fish. Tony

It is anglers that leave trash behind, hook packs, float packs, old roe containers, worm containers, etc. I think it's time hefty deposits are put on everything, $5 deposit on a worm container or timmies cup. I guarantee you see a lot more people picking up these items for the cash deposit, and a lot less people tossing these things away since it would be the equivalent of throwing money away. Smart solutions are the key Tony

Sounds like a sale to off load all the crap they couldn't sell all year. None of that stuff piques my interest, unfortunately. Tony

When Uncle Buck arose to see what was the matter, he saw Daryl Chronzey dipping fillets in beer batter!

Try to get your hands on some fresh/live shrimp or crab and fish it on bottom with a sliding sinker. You should get plenty of action from the beach neary rocky points. I haven't been to Punta Cana, but what I mentioned is a basic saltwater fishing set-up that should work anywhere, they love shrimp and crab. Tony

Where Has Steve Hamilton Gone?*(thanks-found Him)*
tonyb replied to brickNblock's topic in General Discussion
Many reports are no longer being posted by people because of the amount of traffic this site gets. I think people have had cases where they posted a report and then the next day 10 guys on that spot that 'learned' of the hot bite on the Internet. Seems logical... Tony -
Are You A _____- Angler Or A Multispecies Angler?
tonyb replied to Crazyhook's topic in General Discussion
If it has fins it makes me grin Multi-species all the way. I am currently getting pumped to catch some Ling in the great white north this winter. Tony -
I think 4 D cells knotaclue. The bigger one may use 8. Tony

Fishing world in Hamilton has them, and a bigger model than the buddy too. It looks like it could heat a small warehouse I think the portable buddy looks to be the right combination of portability and to provide enough heat. On a side note, they have those Natrue Vision Pak-Shacks 1 person huts for $124.99 they are chincy but more affordable than the Fish Trap X2 I was dreaming about ($779.00 ) Tony

I don't know what you are talking about Mandy

Hey guys, I am curious to know if the Mr Heater Portable Buddy is sufficient for heating an ice hut, or if the Mr Heater Big Buddy is the better way to go? The difference in weight of the unit is 8lbs for the Portable Buddy and 16lbs for the Big Buddy, so I am curious if the Portable Buddy is too small to get the job done. Thanks, Tony

Man you guys have caught some REALLY small fish lol This is the best I could do... Tony

I'll be there for sure, but it's your turn dwc67 to land my fish! It will be a good outdoor test for my new Humminbird to see if it plays well with the Marcum flasher. Also see how the screen holds up if it is cold out. Maureen - I may have a handle on some Chicken for the food end of things. Boneless skinless breasts that are 'par-cooked - 85% cooked' so they only need to be cooked on the bbq for a short period of time (Yay no raw chicken!). I'll check with the supplier and get back to you before the event. I might even be able to get some flats of desert bars like I brought last year, I think people liked the double-fudge brownies! Looking forward to the event, hopefully I can also get some things for the prize table and I'll try to drag some buddies out as well. Great cause, good for you for organizing it! Cheers, Tony
