fish report Feb/01/07 (They're hitting hard & furious)
tonyb replied to skevys's topic in General Discussion
I give Skevys01 all the credit and believe what he says until I can prove it isn't true myself. I will usually take someone's word before calling them a liar Keep the reports coming Skevys! I'd like to get out there but I have been jaded by Quinte. My last 3 ice trips only produced Perch and Pike for me. That was 3 or 4 years ago and I haven't gone back since Tony -
Wow, you guys did well! Thanks for the report. I see that you have mastered the proper holds for photo's Those fish look huuge! Good stuff, Tony

Finally a report out of Simcoe with some decent sized Perch! Way to go! Enjoy your Perch feast. Tony

Doh, another dead action report from Binbrook. Is it so popular because it's close? Tony

Tip #1 - Go fishing withOUT Uncle Buck. Several of us have come to the conclusion that he must have done something really bad to fish in his former life as they avoid him like the plague LOL Hehe, welcome to the site. Tony

I am now waiting to hear back on what I can get. The chicken breasts will be great as chicken on a bun as they will come pre-cooked meaning that they just need to be heated on the grill (Phew! no worries of salmonella poisoning! hehe) Also, everything would be boneless including the buffalo wings so people can stuff their faces by the mitfull. Standby for confirmed type and quantities of food I'll be bringing. Tony -

Feb 24th at Innisfil, check the Sticky at the top of the Forum Steve. Come on folks, some help with numbers. I am working on some boneless chicken breasts, possibly other chicken products like buffalo wings, or chicken fingers but I need some numbers. Also, I might be able to get some desserts. I've got a total count of 12 people from the sticky thread a the top. I'll quadruple that count, I am going to say 50 people, does that sound about right? Tony -
Did you hear them bolt off with the Jeep in the middle of the night? at 2:40am! good job noticing that early! Tony

Does anyone remember how many were out last year? or how many we are expecting this year? I need a ballpark idea for supplies. Thanks, Tony

Wow! you are definately a rare breed among anglers' wive's! Good for you! Another vote for Temagami Shores here. Also, John's ice fishing in Temagami (On-ice Bungalows) has been recommended to me. I have a bungalow booked there on the 3rd of March. (705)237-8505 Cheers, Tony

Free Nipissing mid-week bungalow accomadations
tonyb replied to RandyB's topic in General Discussion
Man that is great offer! Are you looking for a guide to take you out to different areas while you have the Bungalow, or are you talking after your trip to Nippissing? Tony -
Exactly HH! If they don't hit it within the first little bit, they just aren't there, and if they are why do you want to spend the time trying to trigger a fish in a negative mood. There are always active fish somewhere! Tony

I agree with not needing minnows for Perch, but I think it is a good idea to have one line set on your second rod/tip-up with a minnow near bottom for Lakers and Whitefish while you jig with a spoon or other artifical. With Perch, hopefully the action is steady enough that you are able to only use 1 rod. Jigging raps, Williams ice jigs and soft plastics work wonders for Perch.

jil101, If you haven't been ice-fishing before, I would recommend looking at a single day trip rather than something like an ice-bungalow. The accomodations in the bungalow are great for a group of guys, but most women wouldn't be comfortable. I would highly recommend you take a look at hiring a guide for the day that will supply everything you need and take you to where the fish are biting. I can think of 2 top quality guides that will gaurantee you are comfortable on the ice and that you will catch fish. 1. Don McCaw - http://www.iceguidez.com/ email [email protected] 2. Greg Klatt - http://profishntanglingservices.com/ (705) 887-4482 Cheers, Tony

Well said Cisco, I agree with luv2drift on the MNR enforcement end of things, there are clear cuts to that. In my opinion, the government has done a good job in managing the fishery (i.e. posession limits for perch, stocking of Lakers and Whitefish to support fishing tourism) It also gets needed support from the LSRCA including a 'big-picture' sustainability approach through partnerships with the government and local interest groups. (See LSEMS on the LSRCA website, an interesting read) Nobody wants to see a decline in the fishery, including todays well intentioned anglers. A lot of guys that re-iterate "This is nothing like the good 'ol days" would laugh if they saw me fizzing a 6" perch caught out of deep water! I care about the fish I release as much as the ones I keep for the frying pan. Do you think there is more of a problem with catch & keep now, or a couple decades ago? Catch Photograph and Release (CPR) as well as selective harvest as Aaron mentioned is what this era is all about, embrace it Tony

tonyb replied to brkygetrr's topic in General Discussion
If you call the MNR office for that region they should be able to help you out. I have had them fax me maps/lists/etc before. Cheers, Tony -
