Who Thinks Mandy B Should Go To Lakair For Her Birthday!!
tonyb replied to bpsbassman's topic in General Discussion
Exactly, what better way to spend your birthday than in the beautiful outdoors away from the hustle and bustle of the city. She says, it's just a bunch of old men sitting in boats all day It's either Lakair or the weigh-in for the Scotty tournament dear, I think you'll have more fun at Lakair. Tony P.S. I'm going to get punched in the arm -
Welcome! Where are you from, do you mainly fish the tribs or other fishing as well? Beauty fish too! Do you fish Bronte often? Tony

Ice fishing season is approaching...WEEEEE Tony

I agree Shad, that I wouldn't be satisfied with the 14' Lund since it would be limited to smaller bodies of water. But at the same time, the Lund of my dreams is too big to put into smaller lakes so I want both LOL! The thought that is going through my mind is that if I got something smaller it would get me onto the water sooner (this year or next), as opposed to saving for 10 years whilst being landlocked and buying the big Lund (20') And if I am goiong to spend that kind of money, I plan on getting new and keeping it for life. Rather than the constant headaches of someone elses used boat with baggage and then having to upgrade/overhaul periodically. Reliability, evironmental reasons, fuel economy, and quiet-ness are reasons why I would trade the big engine for a 4-stroke. I have no children or plan to have any and I'm still struggling to save enough cash for a boat, so I can totally understand your position Shad. Tony P.S. Sorry to kind of hi-jack the thread, but maybe there is some useful chatter in all this for you bassmaster4

Holy crap, thanks Shad. The problem would be the additional 10K + to trade that big engine in for a new 4-stroke. Tony

Here ya go! The price for a new 2007 Lund package as specified including freight and Pdi is $8900.00 plus tax (About $233/Month for 60 months with 11000 loan at 10%apr) Lund WC 14 DLX Tiller 25 HP Honda 4-Stroke And appropriate trailer. From Clarence at Bay City Marine in Hamilton... Should give you a good idea on pricing. You are paying for the best with Lund and Honda in my opinion. I'm really tempted to get this boat...even though it's not the real Lund that I dream of it would get me out on the water. Cheers, Tony

PICS!!!??? Tony

C.C. = Canadian Catcher! Nice work on those trout. Got to love dropping water levels! Cheers, Tony

Sure is some purty water you are fishing there! Excellent photos of the leaping trout too! Tony

Normally at this time of year, with really cold temps the fishing can improve once the sun comes up. However, with it being so mild, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to find some active fish at night. Both presentations you mentioned will work, lighted floats shouldn't spook fish in deeper runs/pools. Never POP! your float at the end of your drift, regardless of how cool some guys think it is. You can hook a lot of fish at the end of drifts and reefing your float rig in isn't going to improve your chances. Tony

The fish will remain in the creek to spawn in the spring. Some fish have spawned and it is likely that those fish will return to the lake. If what you are really getting at is "will I be able to catch steelhead at the rivermouths" the answer is ABSOLUTELY! Get out there and go fishing, Tony

I wish I could have caught the game, dang work. Does anyone know if it will re-play later at all? Tony
-
Is that real!? I know those golden's are big but it makes that canid look like the size of a bunny! Tony

Nice BROWNIE!!!!! It is hilarious, especially the orange bait in clear water, I could watch it disappear and then a big silver flash! Gets the blood rushing for sure. The one brownie in the pics that has the silver j-9 in it's yap actually chased the lure out from the depths in one pool, I was blown away. Good times, Tony
-
That water is begging to have a spinner swung through it! Nice photos. Tony
-
barracuda, those fish on lures came from all sorts of water EXCEPT the rivermouth if you can believe that. Cheers, Tony
-
W15h1N, you don't need a guide! I've seen your reports... Most probably don't notice, but all the hooks on my lures are swapped out for Gamakatsu's, including my spinners which I add a small split ring to be able to change the hooks. I also re-sharpen my hooks often. I didn't lose a single fish on lures for trout this year as a result. Do sharp, quality hooks matter? YOU BET! Tony

I think you guys should help me out everyone send a PM to 'Mandy' telling her that she needs to go to Lakair for her Birthday. This should be good... Tony

Glad you got a chuckle out of that one niceguy Old skool all the way baby, regardless of how I look in my neoprene's and overloaded vest hehe Tony
-
Thanks for catching that, I did forget about another fish hehe It's corrected now. Tony

Don't be afraid to size up to 6lb line when you are fishing the timber like that. You can get away with it in stained water, but if it is clear you will have to go with 6lb fluorocarbon. Seaguar or Maxima fluoro are the best products out there right now. Cheers, Tony

I was going to book until I realized that it's the same weekend as my wife's b-day I will have to miss another year, maybe the date could change next year? hehe Tony
-
I think it's a J-9 actually, still ridiculous! lol

Wayne, I removed all the large photos and resized them. They should all now be 800x600 or less. Cheers, Tony
