That actually looks pretty sweet Steve.p

bass pro has them but if I were to order new seats that weren't from the factory or have them custom made, I would be looking at bassboatseats.com . they've goit a few options.

Just an FYI, My old fishing partner has lost two using those suction mounts. As stated, those taped mounts hold strong. That 3M adhesive is insane.

This is what Bass Cat uses and it gets good reviews. I know you already ordered something but just in case. http://products.batterytender.com/Accessories/DC-POWER-CONNECTOR-KIT.html FYI, That Minnkota plug everyone is complaining about is made by marinco. And anyone having issues lining them up, there is a little arrow on both the plug and the receptacle. If you've hooked the two pieces up correctly, they will line up and plug in perfectly. I never had an issue with lining them up. I did have issues with the 6 gauge adapter loosening off... The ultrex on the new boat is wired direct and I just flip the breaker off to charge.

Canadian online boat & marine suppliers?
Lape0019 replied to Hack_Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
This is probably the best one in Ottawa. I have found things here that I couldn't anywhere else local. plus, they have a pretty good website. https://www.thechandleryonline.com/ As for Great lakes skipper. I am not sure how far you are to the border but when shipping is ridiculous, we usually ship to the border (myusaddress.ca) and drive over to pick it up. Most time, this is a significant savings because the places we ship to offer free shipping within the US. The place we use charges you $5.00 a package to hold it and is very well organized. -
I used to do this as well but after figuring out that if my boat were to be in an accident, my home insurance would go up, I looked for a separate policy.

The future of Diesel. Is there one? NF
Lape0019 replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
in 25 years, I am of the opinion that you won't see many passenger vehicles that will be diesel. There is a rather large push to electric vehicles right now and I think they will probably takeover in North America as the leading vehicle type within the next 10-15 years. Too many companies are putting funds into EV right now for that not to be the case. But... I think they are much further away to completing a Transport truck style vehicle that is electric. I believe Tesla is working on one but it will take some time to get figured out and even more time for people to trust them. Then you have what everyone else is saying, there will be diesel for tractors and sea. possibly generators for quite some time. -
Yup. It adds up quick. And like you, mine gear is under my homeowners insurance but only if the items are at home. And like you, I shake my head sometimes (not long though) on how much I have spend on jerkbaits. one here and one there doesn't seem like a lot but when you put them together, it adds up.

Just for Comparison, My replacement value is double than what Porkpie has and my annual insurance cost is around $100 more a year. Kawartha, that seemed to be the average price I was quoted for my Z119 and is why Portside Marine seemed liked such a good deal. But... you have to read and understand what you are getting. The only issue I have with my insurance is the amount of content coverage. It's like, $5,000 for fishing equipment which in some cases, isn't enough. I have more than that rods... But because of how I store the boat and it is only out of storage when I am in it, I figured it would be worth it.

First off, I agree with singingdog LOL. But, if you plan on using this on your boat most often, I would recommend looking at something like this instead of multiple batteries. https://yolotek.com/collections/gopro-boat-mount

I am currently with Portside Marine. They were $400-$500 cheaper than any other company I checked with for my boat and they offered monthly payments so it was a no brainer. I do have to say though, their content coverage was half of what the other companies were. So if you can live with a little less content insurance, they're worth a look. I am currently through a brokerage called Tanner Insurance out of Ottawa. If you want some contact info, PM me and I'll gladly provide it. Adam

I hope none of you boys have a boat stored at Muskoka Lakes Marine
Lape0019 replied to BillM's topic in General Discussion
I’ve discussed this with a marina up here. They have insurance to cover their own in-stock boats but they do not carry insurance for people storing their boats at the shop. They make that very clear. -
Out of your options, braid plus Flouro. I usually just run straight braid though

please let us know what you think of it once you have some time with it. the 820 would not have been my choice solely looking at the specs but it should be more than capable. I would have looked at the 822 based solely on the lure rating. I guess it will depend on how heavyof weights you tend to use. My only experience with a Loomis DSR is with an 822DSR NRX which I had borrowed for a few days. I assume the E6x will act similarly and I found that the rod didn't give you much feel as to how heavy the fish was when you were fighting it. On the plus side, it definitely has the give to keep a fish pinned so you should enjoy it. I just hated that I couldn't differentiate between a 1.5 and a 3+lb bass. and the Stradic C+4+? You will not regret that choice at all. Great all around reel IMO.

yeah, Depends what you're looking to do with it. They all have a place and time. And not every AWD is the same either. I prefer a truck to be able to go RWD and then 4X4 hi/low or auto ( I have all options). It gives you more options. but to be honest, I have yet to need 4x4 when pulling my boat out of a launch. But... I tend to stick to decent launches. My car however, I have AWD. It is great! I had always have front wheel before and the extra control is very noticeable. From what I recall, I believe my AWD is still rear wheel dominant with 60% of the power going to the rear wheels. If I put it into snow mode, it is supposed to make it 50/50.

Currently using a Dobyns Champion 702SF XP and it has worked for me for the last 2 years. Before that, I was using a regular Champion (not XP) and was just as happy. I have used a Zodias (Can remember if tiwas Medium or Medium light) And I actually really liked it. It was sensitive enough to feel small taps and was light enough to use for hours on end without much fatigue.

There is a dealer here near Ottawa and they look like very well built boats. Congrats on the purchase.
-
That is quite similar to what was there. Very nice rig. Just not what I was looking for. Most of the multi species boats there were aluminum so that one definitely stood out.

Enjoyed my day heading to the Spring fishing and Boat show. I drove up from close to Ottawa so stopped in at Pro Advantage on the way up and hit Bass pro on the way home. They had almost every bass boat brand I could want to look at (Skeeter was there, but no bass boat) and quite a few dealers there showcasing new product with some sales mixed in here and there. Excellent way to spend a day dreaming on fishing.

Oddly enough, I grew up in a small town and always wanted to move to Ottawa. That changed after spending a semester at college there. I now live about 10 kilometres from the nearest town on a 1 acre lot. I'm on Septic and well and havent spent much over the last 8 years. I have pumped the septic once and haven't had any issues with my well. The nice thing is that there really are very little costs to a well and a septic system (unless it is a holding tank as already stated. Our cottage is on of those and we pump it 4-5 times a year) but when they go, it costs a lot to fix. I go to Toronto once in a while (heading there Saturday) and I love being there but could not live there. I like my space and totally understand why you would be thinking of moving out of town.

I had the Defenders on my Equinox and they are probably the best all seasons I have ever had. That is saying something because I always stuck with more economical brands because I didn't see the point. I was wrong. I have not had the Dueller HT but did have the AT2 and they were an alright tire for the money too. Both tread patterns look similar so I would assume road noise wouldn't be bad with either. I know it was good with the Defenders. I also remember them wearing quite well. I sold the equinox not that long ago and bought a car. The car has both summer and winter Michelin tires on it too. They just work.

As David stated, this is not a Ranger product. Forrest Wood has not owned Ranger for quite some time although Ranger did use his likeness up until 2014-2015 I believe. The only ties to Ranger that Vexus has is that their upper management all came from Ranger when Johnny Morris bought Ranger, Triton and Stratos (fish Holdings LLC) from a Private Equity firm. As stated by David, Keith Daffron is Forrest Woods Grandson but there are more family connections to the wood family then just that I believe.
-
Well, The lineage of this boat is all from the Wood Family. Most of the people involved in this are related or married into the Wood family and most of them left Ranger shortly after Johnny Morris took it over. Although I cannot confirm, I believe that many of the people that were working at Ranger have taken jobs at Vexus as well.

Just wish someone would bring them up here so we could walk through them. I am by no means in a boat buying situation (I just bought one last year...), but it would nice to be able to compare them to what is currently out there. My initial thought is there isn't much out there that is even close to the same style of boat. The Ranger 198P would probably be the closest followed by maybe Express? I believe they are supposed to be releasing their fiberglass boats at the classic this year as well so that should be interesting.

I've been following Vexus on Instagram and YouTube for quite some time. Not to mentions some other boards who have a dedicated sections on them. Their transom looks indestructible. Definitely looks like a very well built boat but I would expect nothing less considering who the major players in this company are.
