  2. Adam, are you staying east or west of Hwy 69?
  3. I use a bungie anchor rope as shown in the link below with 6 feet of 3/8" chain and fluke style anchor. It holds my boat off shore even in large waves from boats passing near by. I've never had it break loose. Anchor Buddy
  4. Unfortunately he was wearing dark coloured clothing, so if he did fall out of the boat, he will be difficult to spot. When the water is this cold, a floatation suit makes alot of sense, but was not mentioned in the article, so who knows if he was wearing one?
  5. Rizzo, what lake are you on? Is it BWF, LWF or Clear?
  6. TJ, I hat to tell you this but your son is taller than you now!
  7. Wayne, were they at the pond down on Giants Tomb!
  8. I think that this image says it all. I've seen it posted on the board in the past.
  9. Here is the email link for those who wish to give their opinion on this topic to someone at the Cormorant Defenders International: Cormorant (P3TA) wannabes
  10. How is this information? The J.D. Powers and Associates 2008 Boat Competitive Information Study examines overall customer satisfaction based upon performance in eight factors: cabin; engine; ride and handling; helm and instrument panel; design and styling; sound system; water sports; and fishing. While J.D. Powers and Associates has an overall boat ranking list, here are the top boats in each segment: Bass Boats 1.Bass Cat 2. Ranger 3. Triton Coastal Fishing Boats 1. Grady-White 2. Boston Whaler 3. Triton E xpress Cruisers 1. Regal 2. Sea Ray Small Runabouts (16 - 19 ft.) 1. Regal 2. Sea Ray 3. Chaparral Large Runabouts (20 - 29 ft.) 1. Cobalt 2. Regal 3. Four Winns Pontoon Boats 1. Manitou 2. Bennington 3. Harris FloteBote and Premier (tied) Ski/Wakeboard Boats 1. Correct Craft and MasterCraft (tied) 2. Malibu
  11. You can't beat Bass Lake PP near Orillia. They have small tinnies and canoes that you can rent right on premises. There are plenty of panfish in the lake along with Smallies. The park also has a nice beach with a playground at the waters edge with the old fashioned spinning wheel where one kid runs around outside to spin it and all of the other kids hang on inside. Orillia is only 10 minutes away, so if the whether is losy, you can go into town and catch a movie. The park in downtown Orillia also has a miniture steam engine that you can take him on!
  12. Does anyone ever fish for eyes in the Waubaushene Victoria Harbour area in May? If so, what kind of luck do you have and what area should I concentrate on as there is so much water to cover? Any help would be much appreciated!
  13. TJ, if you've ever hunted for wild boar, you could put up a sign that says "Boss Hog"!
  14. Mike, at that time of year on the Bay, you can expect to catch mostly Pike and they will still be in transition from shallow to deep water. Weeds will be forming then but still down deep.
  15. How about King Web's Boardroom?
  16. Lunker, like everyone else is saying, the motor is probably scrap and should not be factored into the price. Judging by the amount of paint missing where the cowl sits, the engine has been opened up one too many times for various problems and likely run with the cover off more than once! The boat is extremely heavy and could not be handled by one person and definitely will not ride well in any kind of swell. It is also too big for the trailer and a mis-match. I would keep looking, otherwise you are going to end up with a money pit. Remember that when you are out on the water, particularly the Great Lakes, you want a reliable motor above all else. That does not look anything like a reliable motor to me.
  17. Gerritt, I had the same problem with my dog when she was a pup. I contacted the breeder who suggested teaching the dog the "Leave it" command. Once I taught the dog the command using training treats, I could walk her on a leash right up to dog poop and say "leave it". Should would immediately look to me for a reward, which I of course had! Eventually your dog will learn to leave the poop along because it becomes a "leave it" item.
  18. No it is power trim Wayne. It is only a problem a few times per year when I have extra people on board and the marina wants $100 to $150 to do it, so if I am not happy, then it will cost me $200 to $300. When I have 4 people in the boat it is not a problem.
  19. It is a 17 foot Legend with a 75 4 stroke Merc on the back.
  20. Has anyone here ever had their motor lowered on the transom to help with planing or boat balance? I have a bench seat across the back of the boat and when I have a few adults back there, the boat porpoises a bit and the trim is as far down as it can go, so I thought that lowering the motor might help with this. Right now the anti-ventilation plate sits about on inch above the bottom of the hull and I was thinking about having the marina lower the motor down one more hole. Feedback would be much appreciated.
  21. Okay FW, when did you join P3TA?
  22. Nice shots Brandon. Did you take any shots of the rock face itself? Have you photographed Shannon Falls? The old mining museum in "Sqeemish" was used in a couple of episodes of the X Files.
  23. I've used a free tool from here: Cedar Deck Design You have to register first, but it does work and gives you a materials list as well.
  24. Personally I think that less is more with your boat. Here are some thoughts for you: My number once consideration would be whether or not to change the motor over to a tiller as this will dictate the layout of the seating (console takes up allot of room) The boat is not long, so don't add too much high storage that will impede your ability to move around Keep any decking low so that the centre of gravity is not too high when standing up to fish (especially on a windy day) If you put in a live well, have it closer to the bow for ballast and balance (again great on a windy day) Lastly, you will need more base floor supports than you currently have. Good luck!
