Got a chance to go fishing with an old friend today. JP (Diplip) invited us in his boat for the day out on Georgian Bay. We headed up first thing this morning to do some fall fishing. The weather was pretty nice down here, but up there, it was a whole different ballgame. It snowed on and off all day and the wind kept us from the Big Bay The fall colours were fantastic. We started off with high hopes, but knew the weather was probably not in our favour. Here's JP and Paul all ready to roll. One of the lines went and Paul was right there so he got the first and only fish of the day, this cute little pike JP getting a laugh at the weather, or one of Paul's jokes Here comes a doozie! Good times in the snow (more like ice pellets). The ride back was brutal. Someone looking for a meal. Even though the fish didn't cooperate, it was great to see JP again after quite a few years. Had a chance to catch up and talk about old times. Looking forward to seeing you again soon JP. And thanks for the ride and great company, your JPS works great :thumb: Joey

We shopped around and bought ours from a dealer instead of a private sale. Alot of good points already brought up. Some other points to remember - check the trailer/boat serial number with the RIV first before you pay anything. The RIV will tell you whether that trailer/boat is legit. Ask the seller if he will meet you at the border, that made our transaction alot easier. If it is a dealer, he can get you a 10 day temporary licence plate for your drive back. If it is private, and you have to pick up in the States, you can get your own temp. plate for the drive back also. You cannot use an existing trailer plate to drive back!!!. You need a passport to go across the border now so you have to get that if you don't already have it. You have to pay GST and PST on the boat and GST on the trailer at the border (no duty on vehicles), but then have to pay PST on the trailer when you register it here at the MTO. You also have to get a boat licence up here (and boat numbers) at any Service Canada office before registering at the MTO. Think that about covers it. Joey

Holy Crap ! I mean, ya that's what I mean. Nice fish too Joey

I agree with the guitar or drums. My son is an only child and he tried the guitar, but was alot better at drums. If he enjoys animals, you can have him walk dogs at the pound, volunteer his time at the SPCA or a vet's office, might get him interested in becoming a vet, or get him riding horses, they are alot of fun and there are pony clubs and riding groups that do little competitions that kids enjoy. Have him take a young mechanics course, or teach him at home, so he knows how to fix his cars when he is older, or electronics etc. Just a few thoughts. Joey

I'd like to thank everyone for their outpouring of support this past week and especially today. It is not easy to lose a parent and so many of you have shared your stories and experiences with me to help guide me through this time in my life. I really want to thank all of you. When I got to the church today my "stepmother" said "There are flowers from some fishing people here!" She seemed genuinely shocked. I told her they were from the Ontario Fishing Network Community and she just couldn't seem to grasp the whole community of fishermen who cared about me! I told her they cared about all of their members and what a great bunch of people we are and that we did care. She just said "wow!" I'd like to thank the members who could make it, Spiel, Cliff, DouG, and the ones who intended to but could not, Wayne & Leah, Brian & Betty. Rich and Patsy for the card awaiting me when I got home today, and all the thoughts and well wishes from everyone, including the card Cliff gave me today Carole. You've made this time in my life a whole lot easier to transition through. I will remember it always. And of course to Roy, who was always there, day and night, on the phone and on MSN at 4 a.m. when I couldn't sleep. THANK YOU!! Joey

Thanks Roy, and thank you everyone. Today is the day I bury my father. I will talk and think only of the great memories we had and of our wonderful childhood with him. I really do appreciate all the support and am ready to face this reality. Even though I am very sad, the outpouring of support shows me what great people are here on this earth, but we are only here until it is our time to go. It was dad's time and I will be paying my respects to his life and memory today. Thank you all once again. Joey

Some nice smallies there Aaron, way to go. Joey

Funny stories, thanks for sharing. So what was the monster on the end of Cudz's line? Joey
-
Why does it seem I can only catch these this year???
Joey replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
That's because there are too many pike in our waters. Plus, you can't kill pike, they just won't die They are good eats and more people should catch and eat them in my opinion. Get the population a bit under control! Joey -
Nice fish Fidel, great picture. Hope you shaver gets repaired soon Joey

Joey replied to Harrison's topic in General Discussion
Jeez, that must have been a very hard decision Phil, I'll put out some feelers with my family and friends to see if anyone is interested. Sorry you have to do this, but I'm sure you and your family gave it alot of thought and it is the best thing for Wyatt. Joey
