Joey replied to pike n' whities's topic in General Discussion
I have preserved a few skulls. I just cleaned and soaked them in bleach for awhile, then let them sit out in the sun for a long time until they were white. No shellack or anything, just pure bone, they look great. Chewing tobacco is for sissies Smoke em it ya got em I say!! Joey -

A small town doctor was famous in the area for always catching VERY large fish. One day while he was on one of his frequent fishing trips, he got a call that a woman at a neighboring farm was giving birth. He rushed to her aid and delivered a healthy baby boy. The farmer had nothing to weigh the baby with so the doctor used his fishing scale. The baby weighed in at 32 pounds, 10 ounces!

So do you know if they hit the overhead wires or what happened? Joey

Ya, I remember that too Todd, that was a blast. As I remember, you kicked our arses too Will definately give you a shout next time we head down. Joey

They hydro lines are right there, and we wondered if they hit them also. We were so busy watching the fire and arcing sparks we didn't pay attention to why at that point. I was actually shaking I was so worried about him. I do think that he either hit the line or something on the ground, as the big blue fireballs came from the ground up and the tires on the manlift were melted rubber in the end. Joey

I ended up having the day off today, so mom and I decided to go shopping at Costco. We were almost there and at a building that is being newly erected at the corner near Elgin Mills Rd. and Leslie Street, there was a guy in a manlift a few stories high and we saw a huge blue flash and fire, then another huge blue flash and fire and the manlift was on fire. The guy was freaking out and then all of the metal on the cage he was in and down the boom all started sparking and arcing and making zapping noises. The street lights went out at this point so I waited my turn to go left and then pulled into the parking lot and called 911. Before the fire trucks got there, some other workers raced to get the guy down on another manlift, while another set of guys in another manlift came in from the other side. Meanwhile the first manlift is still on fire and the guy is screaming. Finally the first saving manlift got there and rose up and the guy in the basket it trying to get out and they're yelling at him to take the fire extinguisher they just brought up with them and put the flames out. He did that for about 2 seconds and then got the heck out of the basket and lowered to safety. All the stores around, including Costco, had no power and street lights for the next 10 blocks on the way home were out too. I took some pics with my cell phone, so this is breaking new by Joey Pretty exciting stuff, so glad he was okay. Too far to jump without breaking something or worse. Joey

Your right Cliff, that is a shame and not right. Why do people have to abuse the system. I just don't understand what is wrong with some people these days. I was disgusted this weekend aswell seeing how littered the shoreline was. I mean if you can carry in the stuff, it has got to be even lighter carrying it out as you drank or used the empty containers you left behind. My mother taught me to never litter, so who raised these litterbugs? Okay, end of rant. Joey

Ohhhhhh Dax, you just had to say that. We hummed and hawwed all morning about doing just that, but figured that would be a waste of time because of the weather change
-
No, I don't think it was the high winds or mud, the water was pretty clear, I think it was the warm temps and the fact the ice out was early this year. Some shore fishermen said the run had already happened, and these were just stragglers. I see what you mean about the steelhead jumping, lets go with that And 4thgen, You seem to know your birds. Very interesting about the two different woodpeckers, maybe that's why the red headed one was sticking her head out and squacking. I love taking bird pics, and have just acquired a book of birds, so I guess I better get studying Thanks for the replies everyone. Now why am I so tired Is it nap time yet
