I use tie-able wire for jigging when the pike are common but since I've haven't had a problem with pike in my frog spots I haven't tried it. I guess the lack of stretch compared to mono/flouro would be a possible issue.

I've used flouro, mono and tied direct. For me the sinking of the flouro isn't much of an issue since I usually have all the line off the water. I do prefer to have something down there but more so for the stretch than the pike teeth.

Looking at a Garmin Striker Plus 7sv or something similar. Who has experience with the Garmin units? I like the self mapping feature for those lakes off the system, but how are their charts of the big lakes that are already mapped?

Maybe it's just as well. If there was brookies and grouse I might become a squatter.

Wondering if some out there have some in-put. My brother is a really big guy and has a tough time finding boots that fit well. He's looking for water proof (or at least very water resistant) boots. Non, or thin insulation. The issue is finding something that fits over his calves so the muck style boots haven't worked. Thnks

Whether it be a moose shot and left to rot or anglers who exceed their daily quota, conservation officers in the province said most of their cases have very few, if any, witnesses, which means any information from the public can go a long way. "Conservation officers often work in remote areas, investigating cases....[and] many of our cases, we do not have complainants to talk to...so any help we can get from the public to put the puzzle together is beneficial," Staff Superintendent and Manager of enforcement Dave Hiscox said. He said officers in Dryden, Ont. originally developed an interactive online map to not only show the number of unsolved cases in the province, but also to educate the public on what conservation officers do. That map, which was intended for outreach purposes, was then taken and made into a "provincial online map with" the goal to educate, inform, and seek support from the public on solving some of these investigations. "Most of our significant cases are solved with help from the public," Hiscox continued, and this past fall, officers saw a few cases in the region where moose have been abandoned and left to rot with their nose and tongue removed. "There is three cases we are working on where moose were abandoned...so there's a bit of a trend there [but] other than that, this fall we are seeing a lot of safety related offenses like such as loading firearms in vehicles and shooting down road ways." He said although social media platforms like Facebook has really helped in solving some of their cases, Hiscox would like to remind callers to jot down important information you might have observed, such as license plate numbers or GPS locations when calling the tip-line. "We often send out news releases about major convictions we get and if we are seeking the public's help and we just see this online map as another tool to reduce natural resource violations," Hiscox said. Cracking cold cases with interactive map The interactive online map can be most easily be accessed by searching "solve a natural resource case" on the Ministry of Natural Resource and Forestry's website. "From there though, we would like to ask anyone if they have information for any of these cases, that they call the MNRF tips line and then our dispatch system will inform the conservation officer," Hiscox said. And while officers have not received any specific information thus far, Hiscox said they are doing everything they can do try to solve some of these complicated violations.

Crap, I usually bring some home for the kids but didn't this time. Next time I'll set some aside for you.

Headed north with my brother for some birds. The weather was less than ideal but wasn't terrible either.

I have a 2012 highlander and it's done everything that I expected, except the breaks. They just don't "last" the way any other vehicle I've had and I don't think my driving habits have changed that much? Maybe it's a toyota "big" vehicle thing?
