  1. But will it hit a topwater? https://news.nationalgeographic.com/2018/04/prehistoric-sea-monster-largest-size-blue-whale-fossils-science/?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social&utm_content=link_tw20180409news-seamonster&utm_campaign=Content&sf186592376=1
  2. Yes I like mine on the bow as well. I'll use one or 2 depending on the time of year and the speed I'm looking for.
  3. I've been going back and forth on what I'm going to do this summer for the family trip to Florida. I'm leaning towards shipping it beforehand but since this isn't a fishing trip and much more of a family/Disney trip. I've got some travel rods so I'll look into the airlines policy on sports equipment.
  4. I mounted mine on a 1x2 piece of pine and use a C-clamp. It worked on tillers/tinnys and on a bigger ski/fish boat.
  5. I don't think so, at least not without cutting/modifying one of the tubes. Both ends of the smaller/inner tube are the same size.
  6. Dollarama south end Barrie in the complex that has Cabela's. My wife brought one home for my son's school project last night. I think they are intended for artwork and such. They're not super sturdy but they'll serve a purpose and are a lot lighter than pvc tubes.
  7. At 4 bucks I figured I'd get a few of these. They go from 25 to 40 inches and are just a hair over 3 inches in diameter. Cheap rod tubes.
  8. And you can use your Cabela's gift cards at BPS as well. Same thing, customer service will take care of it.
  9. My mistake, Based on the brown posted I assumed creek fishin'.
  10. We're staying in the Orlando area. Inshore is definitely where I'm leaning. Would east coast or west coast make a difference?
  11. For me I'm a big fan of the superlines meant for spinning reels. Nanofil and fireline. You can use mono or flouro leaders as necessary for your applications. Having said that, I still tend to use light mono for small stream trout. That's not based on anything other than comfort.
  12. So the family has decided to go to Orlando this July. (I need some Gerrymandering). Is there any point in trying to go bass fishing then? Is there some inshore options that might be better then? Still hoping I can get hit by a bus beforehand. This same group of people went to Cuba in July as well and clearly didn't learn a darn thing.
  13. While the Barrie Cabela's leaves me wanting more I'd hate to see it close.
  14. small wopper plopper super spook big wopper plopper single bladed top raider When I bought my woppers the only 2 sizes were the 2 above. It sounds like they might have move sizes now. The size of the small is ok for me but it is very light and not as easy to cast with my usual topwater baitcast set-ups. The bigger wopper is just a bit too thick in the body for me, for smallmouths. The hooks are much thicker as well and don't stick bass as well as other hooks.
  15. They do fish the same way but the sound is different from a top raider. To my ears (for what that's worth) the top raider has a more metallic sound while the wopper ploppler is more melodic if that makes sense.
  16. It's part of the my arsenal. I have both sizes. I feel that the smaller one is too small for regular smallmouth use and the bigger one is just a little too big, but too small for regular muskie tossing and tough to use with muskie rods. My first open water choice is almost always a super spook, but the plopper is a good choice is two anglers want to through different presentations.
  17. I use that if I'm walleye fishing and pike are heavily in the mix, but for topwaters it would be heavier than flouro and, I'd think, less stretch.
  18. My understanding is that some of the earlier generations of LCD's had problems below zero. Not sure if this would explain your problems though.
  19. The water temp isn't a problem. As mentioned a battery getting low on charge might be. If you are pulling it out of the hole a lot you could have some ice forming on the 'ducer but that should melt. Definitely bring it. adjust the settings to increase the sensitivity and yes there is a lot of current areas where sometimes your presentation isn't "in the cone".
  20. That would be fun to tool around on.
  21. The big questions are: What type of salt and will the cat point or flush?
  22. Trying to figure how many drift socks I'd need to get that down to a spring walleye troll?
