  1. I will cede a single point. The location of the arena is terrible and always was. That's what you get when you're a private enterprise looking for public handouts.
  2. Nothing wrong with the simpler trailers from my youth but geeze those modern ones are high society. Very nice Cliff, hope to see more in the future.

  4. I get the scarcity and what that does to someone's perception, but tarping 1500 (or more) of the cheapest seats is a miss. If this scheme "works" they still don't sell as many seats as before (All those Leafs and other Canadian team sell-outs) and sell 0 beers, hotdogs and Leafs souvenirs to those 1500 seats every game. There is a cost to the team per patron (things like cleaning and staffing). They are not closing off a level or washrooms so there will be no savings. There is also a revenue value tied to each person in the building. All they've done is restricted themselves. The price was too high versus the product value and they chose to hide behind a curtain tarp.
  5. Or just ice a team people want to watch. http://www.ctvnews.ca/sports/tired-of-empty-seats-ottawa-senators-remove-at-least-1-500-chairs-from-arena-1.3579675#_gus&_gucid=&_gup=twitter&_gsc=qh0axpV Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk believes less could mean more. Tired of seeing too many empty seats, the NHL club has made the decision to reduce capacity at Canadian Tire Centre by 1,500 to about 17,000. Rows in the upper bowl have been covered with tarps. "The attendance shifts have been dramatic over a period of two decades," Melnyk told reporters Thursday. "The whole trend now is less seats and more clubs and frankly smaller stadiums. "When you look at things like a new stadium downtown, we're not going to build a 20,000-seat stadium. It will probably be closer to 15,000-17,000 in there." Melnyk and team president Tom Anselmi wouldn't reveal season ticket numbers but the two are hopeful that by removing seats fans will feel the need to purchase season tickets with the potential of there being fewer tickets available on a walk-up basis.
  6. I've only just starting using it again and haven't uploaded many photos. Once hunting season starts hopefully I'll have some batches to load and share.
  7. In general terms you're right, the farther north you go, the more likely birds are to hold long enough for you to see them before they flush. There is a crown atlas web site that shows where crown land is. I use it combined with google satellite images to figure on likely places to try. http://www.gisapplication.lrc.gov.on.ca/CLUPA/Index.html?site=CLUPA&viewer=CLUPA&locale=en-US North of Bracebridge and south of North Bay can be productive, but I find that north of North Bay/Sudbury is better.
  8. ... and it looks like Flickr works fine for photo posting.
  9. I like the store bought coatings, but prefer: crushed cornflakes, panko, regular bread crumbs or Italian seasoned bread crumbs. I use the same for grouse as well.
  10. Same here. I hadn't heard of it before either but figured that this might be a place that someone would have.
  11. The little one was a barracuda and the bigger one on the gaff was a wahoo I believe.
  12. So in my search for an alternative to crap-bucket for photo hosting I went through some photos I had on flickr. These would be from a trip to Mexico in February of 2005. These are likely film photos from a disposable waterproof camera that where put on a cd.
  13. Heads up: http://inspection.gc.ca/about-the-cfia/newsroom/food-recall-warnings/complete-listing/2017-09-01/eng/1504321873804/1504321877058 Food Recall Warning - Shore Lunch brand Fish Breading/Batter Mix recalled due to Salmonella
  14. For what it's worth, photo bucket had a feedback/survey when I went to the site today. Not sure it will make any difference but I let them know what they could do with the 10 years of broken links.
  15. Smart enough to not have a clue what I was talking about... or what you're even talking about. Your smart "buddy" can roll out a map and work for his spots. That's how guys who are trout crazy roll.
  16. I get the frustration with the writers and interviewer but something to keep in mind is that not everyone has our level of understanding about this subject, so an interviewer has to sometimes ask what would appear to be silly questions to us.
  17. For now, I'm done with photobucket. Every post with photos I've made is broken, as I assume most other's are as well. They're not getting $400 per year from me to post a few dozen photos. I tried google but this site wouldn't accept the images on my first attempt. It's a work in progress.
  18. So that's it every photo from photobucket is no more in any post.
  19. Took my son for an after work fish trip as we hadn't been on the water for 6 weeks. It only took a couple of casts at the first spot and I had a blowup on a topwater frog in way back in the lily pads. It came off and before I had a chance to make a follow-up cast the seagull I was fishing with had placed his hollow body sunfish right in the hole made by the fish. He did better than I did and had the hooks into a fish and was hauling it out of the pads. The fish and about 5 pounds of weeds at the side of the boat after a short battle. So I guess I missed the part where photobucket has change things. I'll see what I can do but my first thought is that they can go pound salt and i'll go elsewhere, but we'll see.
  20. A lawyer's opinion : http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/thunder-bay/thunder-bay-lawyer-says-foi-request-for-fishing-spot-is-without-merit-1.4239573
  21. The comments section is classic: Algonquin Park is not anywhere near Thunder Bay. This story should be in either the Sudbury or Ottawa section.
  22. Thunder Bay CBC radio host Gord Ellis (who writes for Ontario Out of Doors) is talking about this today at 8:15 am. Should be able to find it on the net.
