  1. Good call Brian. I'll restart this one. My name is Adam, I've mainly lived in the gta most of my life and currently residing in the Hamilton/ancaster area. I shore fished and searched the local creeks and conservation areas on and off throughout my life, and this year, I finally got an 89 Ranger 320V. So I've spent my free time venturing out into the waters in search of the big ones. I mainly fish for bass and pike and love doing it, I'm starting to get into walleye, but I'd also like to try for musky, salmon and trout at some point. I just want to thank everyone who has not only helped me but also shared their experiences on this site. I think the combination of knowledge, experiences and willingness to share is what makes this site unique. It makes me think of a saying, OFC "for the fishermen, by the fishermen" because you guys are what make this site.
  2. Exactly Bill. That's pretty cool that Lakemaster updates the 'current' map with your recording. That's how it should be. And I appreciate that aspect. I just don't like the fact I can't use what I personally created unless I pay $100.
  3. Nice job!
  4. Hard to say. judging by this comment: It might be made up. But that's what I find funny about this whole insight genesis thing. Feel free to clarify. I don't understand the process entirely but, It's free for us to go out and map out all the bodies of water for them and the public, but then if we actually want to use the data that we created, on the same device that we used to recorded it, we have to pay $100? Am I missing something here? It's also made by Navico = Navionics so we're now giving them the info for their charts, paying $100 to use the charts we made, and say $200 for the 1 year subscription...
  5. Thanks for clarifying things a bit more Lape. And thanks everyone else for their input I think I'm going to go with the navionics + since it seems to be the most versatile
  6. I usually do 100+km a day, 40-60min there and 60+ coming back. I've learned to accept the traffic and idiots on the road. Otherwise I'd go crazy
  7. Nice report sounds like you had a great time and you got some great pictures.
  8. "Will trade for 1 medium triple triple or 1 apple fritter AND a can of Mountain Dew. LOL thats a pretty good deal if you need a dirty ol snow suit
  9. Hey guys thanks for letting me know. Now I just have to figure out the differences between the +, hot maps & gold Yes Sinker boat's done. Gotta pick it up this weekend so I'm hoping the weather's good there. I may try to install everything while I'm there if I'm feeling lucky... good to know thanks Bill, I've heard the lake master charts are supposed to be good but they're only for humminbird now right?
  10. That's a great little story!
  11. Hey everyone, I recently picked up a Lowrance unit but I'm not sure which map pack to get for it. I'll probably only fish in Ontario with it so I'm just wondering what's the best option for me and what do you guys use?
  12. Thought I'd share this info incase anyone out there didn't already know...I guess too many greedy people tried to take advantage of Shimano and unfortunately, they decided to change their rod warranty. Shimano is changing their warranty and will be discontinuing their limited lifetime, and replacement program. Instead, they will now offer a limited 1-year warranty. This came into affect August 1, 2014 sorry for the really poor quality, I got the pictures off another site. theres more pages but these are the main ones. Shimano's site confirms and now states this: http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/customer_service0/Rod_Warranty.html
  13. Wow I hadn't heard about this yet. Real shame though. I hope they get it sorted out soon so you can start drinking water again bigcreek. It's amazing the difference in house prices. That is a small lot woodsman. If that house in Ohio was in Toronto, it would be worth millions.
  14. That was good of Bell because they could have easily said no. Thanks for sharing. Same. I had cogeco then moved and Bell is a lot better +10
  15. nice fish!
  16. For those people who have the app, today I got a message to update it. From what I understand this is what's new with it: ● A Navionics+ subscription now includes Navionics Nautical Charts, SonarCharts™ and Community Edits. It also provides 12 months of chart updates. After the 12 months expire you retain your charts and have the option to renew your subscription to updates. ● Any previously purchased chart has been upgraded to Navionics+! ● Experience the value of Navionics+! Choose a region and try Nautical Charts, SonarCharts™ and Community Edits for free! ● Bug fixing and optimization So Raycaster, to answer your question you have 365 days to update your charts.

  18. Nice!
  19. Great looking fish and your dad's expression is classic!
  20. Theres 2 versions. I think one is called "HD" probably made for bigger screens (or just more profit). If you download the HD version its $54.99 for canada+us, the other one, it's $14.95. I emailed Lowrance a while back to find out why theres such a big difference in price and I'm still waiting for their reply...
  21. Looks like you guys had a great time. I'm definitely in need of one of those getaways. Nice fish!
  22. That last pike looks like it just ate a pike! Sounds like a great trip. Its a shame about the fires but luckily it didn't ruin your time out there.
  23. Thats an amazing picture
