  1. Im using bass boat technologies mounts. They're not cheap but they've been on the boat for a few years and they have been solid. I agree about the ball ram mounts. I had them and know someone who has them. They have larger screens and they move around when its choppy. If the stock mounts work for you they are usually pretty solid if you can get at least 4 points of contact with the boat.
  2. Put it on the console. Its a bigger screen so use it to find the structure then use the smaller one to stay around it and locate the fish. I have si both on the console and bow but if I had 1 choice it would be at the console. Most of the time, you find the structure driving and then know roughly where it is when your going to fish at the bow.
  3. Hi, The make is an 89 Ranger 320V. Sorry for the late reply as I had problems with my computer over the weekend. If you can, that would be great. Feel free to send me a pm with your contact info and we can discuss things further.
  4. Hey guys it's been a while as life has got in the way of fishing but hoping to get out there more often this year. Just wondering if anyone has a recommendation for getting my top cap repaired on my 16'. The place where my boat was stored must have had a window shining on a portion of it so it dulled the black gelcoat in 2 areas. Kinda looks like it's got the sun shining on it at all times. The other issue is I have an imprint in the gel coat from my boat cover. Don't ask me how but it's there. I don't have pictures but I can get them if needed. I'm located in Burlington now but willing to travel if the price is right and the person is reputable. I've asked around but haven't had any luck so hoping you guys can help me out. Thanks!
  5. It's pretty tight and rocky. The water was clear last year when I was there, but there's a current going into horseshoe, so you have to be careful. I can't tell you the depth but I'd say less than 10' probably closer to 6, so trim up as much as you can. I've gone through on someone elses boat but they didn't have an outboard style motor, and never tried with my own yet. There's a bridge you go under, in between the lakes, as your going through, so you could try to scout out the channel from the top of the bridge before attempting it on your boat. From what I understand the water level fluctuates so if you see/know anyone in the area you could ask them if it's up or down. Hope this helps.
  6. Hey, I have an extra anchor, I just have to find it. I'll be in touch when I do. Where are you located these days?
  7. Horseshoe and mountain are good lakes with depths to almost 100' and steep drop offs from what I remember. I know there's bass and pike in them, may even be musky..
  8. That's a good point but I believe the answer is no. I bought a used boat 5 years ago from the U.S. and imported it myself. At no point during the process did they say anything about the plate, or me needing a different one for Canada. I think because the max HP, max weight limits, etc. deal with the boat itself, it should technically be the same, regardless of where you are. Just make sure you have Canadian PFD's. mine came with American ones and the first day I went on the water the police pulled me over and gave me a ticket for not having Canadian Coast Guard Approved life jackets; and we were wearing them.
  9. Glad to hear it was an easy fix! I didn't get out this weekend but next time I go I'll be doing the same.
  10. I noticed something similar on mine. I've only tried it out once but I noticed I lost my depth reading when on plane.. Well the map was showing 20ft and the depth was showing 1.5..scared me for a second but fortunately the fish I caught shortly after made me forget until now. if I can get out tommorow I'll check the sonar part. Let us know how it works with the ducer tilted down.
  11. Thanks for all the replies gentlemen! Always appreciated. I will be looking into this immediately. Cheers.
  12. Does anyone know of any reputable companies for boat insurance in the Gta? My boats not worth a fortune but I'd like to get insurance on it; as I've invested what I feel is a descent amount into it, and had it broken into and things stolen, last week. I talked to my insurance broker and they said they don't deal with boats so I'm trying to figure out who to call next.
  13. Good to know. Thanks!
  14. Lookin good. I need to do my carpet soon too, its starting to deteriorate. Whats was the hardest part for you so far?
  15. LOL The booz trophy....I know a couple people who'd have a chance at winning that one.
  16. Wow that's one of the fattest smallies I've seen! What are they eating out there?
  17. I've got the 3 bank minn kota and its done the job ever since I've owned it.
  18. Thanks Rattletrap! I'll look into them as well.
  19. Just curious, what are you guys using for line for your topwater rods? I've been using straight braid for a while now but was debating going to mono this year. I know some guys love using just mono and some do the leader so wanted to know what others are using.
  20. Thanks for the info guys! Tom, is greg the person I should be trying to contact?
  21. I think my last one was a cheaper one. But I'm thinking custom is the way to go, it just depends on how much it actually costs. Do any of you know of somewhere reputable I could go to price one out? I'm in Burlington now but gta is fine.
  22. Hey guys it's been a while since I've had a chance to get on here but as boating season is starting, I remembered my cover from last year ripped in half during a wind storm, so I need a new one. Just wondering what people are using and whats a good quality cover to buy. Thanks!
  23. That sucks! I would be disappointed too. Thankfully your buddy's place is up there or I would have been really upset. Kijiji is bad for people doing that. On the other side, a very large amount potential buyers are brutal on kijiji too. I've been selling stuff on kijiji for years to the point where i've got my own system for weeding out the majority of flakers and I completely agree with porkpie. I had similar issues when I was trying to buy my boat. I tried to buy a boat off of someone on kijiji and tried to arrange a meeting that was convenient for 2 weeks before saying forget it, and finding the boat I have now. The day I bought the boat, the other person called back and left a message saying I could go look at the boat that day.. In the end I'm very happy I got the boat that I have now and, when I look back, its probably a good thing I didn't buy the other boat. So don't worry, your boat will come soon.
  24. Sounds like a great day. Looks like your son's really gettin the hang of casting. Agreed. I'm thankful that I have a few rods now for that reason. Went out with my cousin on the weekend and he did that to 2 of my bait casters. I fixed one, then tried to fix another one for about 30 seconds before handing him another rod. I was amazed at how much easier and less stressful it was to fix them afterwards lol.
