  1. In my mind hands down Crosby is the better player. Has more leadership qualities than Ovechkin and plays his heart out every shift. No floating at the oppositions blueline for him. Ovechkin lost a lot of respect for me by singing Penguins suck at the end of game two and then raising his finger for number 1 when he scored in game 5. Classless and came back to haunt him bigtime.
  2. I am in Alberta and can tell you out here becoming a Fish and Wildlife officer is tough to do as there are a lot of grads and not many jobs. Most work seasonal for minor pay for 3 or 4 years before they get a full time posting. Starting salary for a Fish and Wlidlfe officer here be in the $45000 and then max out at $66000 or so unless you get out of the field and into a more specialized role with them. Plus the new recruits tend to get the less desirable postings but some do luck out and get into decent locales from the get go. Be tough to go to Fort McMurray on a $45000 per year salary even with your extra $12000 per year northern allowance when housing in Fort McMurray starts at $400000 for an older house or rent starts at $2500/month and that is if you can even find anything. I am a forester here, same department, different division and we seem to hire a lot of forest officers who take a 2 year forestry diploma course. I have worked with a few guys from Sir Sanford Fleming college and others from Ontario. Salaries are the same for forest officers versus fish and wildlife officers here but way more room for faster advancement in the forest officer series. In our area there are around 9 Fish and Wildlife officers and 40 or more forest officers. Just posted this to give you a flavour of the field out here as well. PS. difference bewteen a forester and forest officer here is a forester has a university degree and hence makes better money but the forest officers are in the field more. Forest officer can get classified into the forester pay group once they get into the higher end forest officer jobs but that takes awhile to do.
  3. Not to discredit anyone but I have a 2008 Merc 50 HP 2 stroke with built in fuel tank and run regular no problem. I do not use Mohawk gasolines as they have ethanol though. Esso, Petro Can and Shell are in my boat usually and so far no problems after a 100 plus gallons thru it. My Owners manual stated regular was fine just watch the ethanol content is all.
  4. That is a great design. Your ingenuity and abilities on all things like this are simply quite amazing.
  5. holdfast, good pics. Obviously I have been into Meota a lot thru my years as I was born in North Battleford and we have a cabin on Murray. Most of my relatives still live in NB or just north of it on farms and my mom moved back to NB in 2007 after my dad passed away. Will be back down that way probably on the May long weekend.
  6. On a 2 stroke, low compression can cause the exact problem you are describing. As the motor has to suck the fuel up from the crankcase and make the reeds work, a poor seal (compression) would greatly reduce its ability to get enuff fuel into the crankcase and into the cylinder to run at full throttle for any length of time. Hope that makes sense as that is my understanding of it.

  8. Been approached twice while fishing in Ontario. Once was on Sen Bay and I thot oh boy this is going to be good as some guys were loading beer into their boat to go fishing. CO walked right by them and came up to me. I had my SRD hat on from here (our MNR) and he never asked me for my license as he had seen me buying it in town the day before. Asked him about the guys and the beer and he said nothing he can do about that. I told him here in Alberta the fish and wildlife officer would have had a field day with that one. Second time was on Little Vermilion Lake by Sioux Lookout, buddy and I were out in my boat, CO pulled up checked our license and then helped us with finding some good spots to fish. Very pleasant experience both times. Out here I know most of the officers as we work for the same department and 99% of the time I never get asked. Always have my license though as would not look too good for me to get fined with my job and all.
  9. The money wasted on a program of absolutely no benefit to society (long gun registry) would have put a MRI machine in every hospital in Canada. Wonder how many more lives that would have saved versus the zero that the gun registry has. We have had to register handguns since the 30's, has that done anything to stop violence with handguns, no.
  10. Signed it just now. Should never came into being to begin with. A total knee jerk reaction to a tragedy but common sense should have prevailed back then. Hopefully it prevails now.
  11. Actually we are getting ready to watch our team in the playoffs. Sens fans on the other hand are still trying to console themselves after they were eliminated from playoff contention 20 games into the season!
  12. Nice eye Ben but you know you are breaking my heart here with all these updates and pics of fish up there I hope!
  13. Whiskey in the Jar and Enter Sandman.
  14. Ben, never lived there but the ex was from Sioux Lookout and we used to go back for a month each summer. Usually spent a week around Sioux Lookout fishing before we flew out of Latto's to the cabin at Star Island on Kawaweogama Lake at Allanwater. I was in Sioux Lookout for 3 or 4 summers in a row. Have actually been looking at real estate out that way for when I retire in 8 years. Housing in Ignace is ridiculously cheap and that gets me out there with in a hour or so off Sioux Lookout and area. Also liked to fish Big Vermilion from the boat launch past Hudson and before the mill there. Beautiful area around Sioux Lookout and you are lucky to be living up there Ben.
  15. Marchington lake, remember that name. Is it not off the end of Botsford Lake? Man talk and pics like this keep up I may have to get back together with the ex! The highway from Sioux Lookout to Savant has a lot of lakes on it for sure. Used to like fishing Deception Lake across from the Deception Bay boat launch or Sen Bay down the Vermilion River road.
  16. Welcome. I sent you a pm with some info for you.
  17. Savant Lake, have flown out of there numerous times with Latto's on the way to Pickle Lake. Nice area as well. Nice fish too!
  18. Ahh Sioux Lookout area. Sure do miss it there. Nice fish! Keep posting the pics Ben and I will be making a trip back out there this summer!
  19. Lean and rich refer to the air gas mixture in a motor and has nothing to do with the oil gas ratio. Some say that by running more oil than recommended you are actually leaning the motor out which is a definite no no as that will melt down your motor. Lean refers to too much air for the volume of gas being supplied which will cause your engine to run hot which will melt your pistons or burn a hole thru the top of your pistons. If Yamaha is recommending 100:1 that is what I would use. At idle and trolling speeds, most motors with oil injection are probably running around that 100:1 or even a bit higher ratio. When the motor is at full power it will tend to want more oil to help with the increased heats generated in the combustion process.
  20. Sure am glad we do not have a PST out here. I always thot harmonizing the PST with the GST meant that you combined them together so you did not pay the PST on the GST amount or vice versa. In that sense it would be cheaper in the long run but I see the Lieberals there want to start charging the PST on stuff that they never charged it on before. How that is supposed to enhance the economy I guess greater minds than mine will figure out. The $1000 to every household making less than $160000 is a ridiculous ploy and not real wise when you are talking running a deficit. Going to be paying for that for years to come. Here they sent us the infamous $400 cheques for every man, woman and child in the province. But then we were running big surpluses but still most Albertan's I talked to wanted that money invested for the future, not given out as it was.
  21. holdfast, I do not know what color the sky is in your world but please one day let us know. I have never seen anyone as negative as you on life in general. Hopefully someday you will be able to put behind all that bothers you and see life in a much more positive way.
  22. Do them on line 90% of the time or mail them in if I have to. Figure for the little effort why not.
  23. First off, they should have fired the GM and the coach. Gainey has made too many goofs and let too many players walk and get nothing in return. Team has lost all its heart and needs someone to grab them by the scruffs of their necks and get them going again. A Mark Messier type guy. As for the goaltending, the team gives up way too many shots and noone gets physical in front of the net and Price lost his confidence. Price will be fine but when he got back from his injury, they should have sent him down to Hamilton for a conditioning stint instead of throwing him to the wolves. Still cheer for them though and always will. At least with the Habs there is a flicker of a future where as the Leafs, their flicker was gone in about 1968! LOL And in 93, the Habs would have swept the Leafs in 4. Roy would have outshone Potvin by a wide margin. And the non-call on Gretzky in 93 was sweet justice for the Kings and couldn't have happened to a better guy than Gilmour as he the year before broke Sandstrom's arm with a cowardly slash from behind as Sandstrom was skating up the ice. Gilmour was not penalized nor suspended for his slash.
  24. Rad, how many dollars are we talking as I would like one for my Crestliner as well?
