Yes it did Goran, but evidentely it's open again under a new owner. Hope it's as good as before, their burgers & fries were worth the trip themselves

A longtime and very dear friend of mine owned a 200 acre dairy farm up on the hill near Binbrook (SP) He retired several years ago and was offererd an insane amount of money for the property. He kept a 1 acre piece of ground near the road, built a new home on it and sold everything else off to the developers. What was once a beautiful farm and plenty of trees and open space is now homes, stores and traffic congestion, but I spose that's progress. He's dead now, but his family is living well from the sale.

This is always a good day for anyone who's interested in joining us. We all meet up on the Niagara Parkway in the morning, then spend the day on the water and as Pete said, we'll all head to the restaurant at the end of the day for supper & fish'n tales. Great way to close out the season. It get's pretty chilly some years, so If your coming, dress well for the day.

A couple of questions about the boat, motor and trailer
lew replied to motv8tr's topic in General Discussion
What I failed to mention Mo, is that the motor needs to be RUNNING while you spray the fogger into the carb. After you've run the motor for 15 minutes to circulate the stabilizer, spray the fogger into the carb until the motor stalls....THEN it's done. It'll smoke in the springtime when you 1st fire it up, but that's normal. -
I wish Cronzy would improve his releases!

Don, I've also heard it relieves some pressure off the wheel bearings too......don't know if it's true or not, but it can't hurt -
A couple of questions about the boat, motor and trailer
lew replied to motv8tr's topic in General Discussion
Hey Mo, something else I always like to do with my boat when it's going away for the winter, is to lift the trailer up and put jack stands under it, just to keep the weight off the tires for all those months. Not something everyone does, but I personally think it helps. -
Guess I better break out the woolies too, eh Wayne ??

The north half of the lake is shallower with lots of rocks as metioned by Kawartha Kev, while the south side is for the most part, much deeper & safer. You'll still find plenty of green weed, specially in the deeper sections, and if you can find it adjacent to the rocks, all the better. Work the deeper weed edges, plus the rock - weed transitions with some large supending baits with plenty of hang time and slower than you would have a month ago, and you could be a happy fisherman. Don't ferget your camera and good luck.

Not to difficult to winterize a 2 stroke Mo. With the gas stabilizer, you need to mix it with a bit of gas, maybe a quart, then pour it into the gas tank. Now you need to run the motor for awhile to circulate it thru the entire system. You can buy a set of motor muffs at CTC for only about $15. You hook them to a garden hose and put them on the very bottom of your motor where it draws in the water. You'll see it, there'll be some slots in the housing. Turn on the water, start the engine and run it for about 15 minutes. You'll know everything is working properly if you see a stream of water coming outta the pee hole. For the oil in the lower unit, you should be able to buy it from any boat dealer in your area. You can buy a tube that you squeeze the oil out, or better yet is a pump tank that I always find much more convenient, plus you can re-use the pump every year and just buy the oil afterwards. Also be sure to buy new washers for the screws that you'll be removing to drain and then refill the oil. Their only a few cents each. You'll also need fogging oil to spray into the carburators to keep everything nice and lubricated for the winter. Sounds like lotsa work, but it's all pretty simple really. There's other stuff, but I gotta run right now before I burn the supper -
Congrats on the new PB, it's always great when you can set a new benchmark. Gotta luv them Quinte bigguns !!

capt bruce, I'm assuming your talking about the lymphosarcoma that was evident on a couple of the fish that Wayne & I got on Scugog last week ?? That's a condition that is very prevelant in Kawartha muskies and something that occurs very regularily and my own guestimate is maybe 8-10 % of the fish have it. I normally boat around 70 - 100+ muskies a year myself and regularily see 10-12 fish with that condition each season. I've talked to the MNR about it and they are fully aware of the problem but claim it's a form of skin cancer and is just a natural thing that has been around for more than 100 years and is evidentely passed from one fish to another during the spawn. I've also seen fish that have only a scar on them where it appears they've had this condition at one time, but it has healed over and cleared up, but that's only my opinion. It may also be prevelant in other locations around the musky world, but I don't have that information. It's definetely a very grotesque affliction, but doesn't seem to affect the strength of the fish at all and they still fight as well as any healthy fish.

I can darned near smell that from here.....looks awful tasty
-
Go for it Joey, you'll probably thank yourself later for doing it

That's definetely the unit Kevin, but it's strange, I've gone to the Cabella website twice now and can't find that unit listed anymore. I can see several LCX units, but not that one. Anyways, go for it if you can, I've got a couple friends with that model and their all very happy with it.
-
Kevin, are you sure Cabellas even have those 25's anymore ?? Since I posted that link for the 1/2 price sale, they seemed to have removed them from the website, unless I'm just not looking in the right place, but I don't see them listed anymore.

I ordered a GPS from them last December and it arrived in 3 business days.....fabulous service. You also get a tracking # so you can follow the progress of your order.

That's some funny stuff Holdfast, I haven't thought of the Battles of Barrington Street in years, and there's not many ex-sailors around that haven't taken part in at least a few of them. Ahhh yes, the good old daze, wake up in jail in the morning with all your buds, bloodied & bruised and talk about how much fun we had the night before My dad also served 5 years in the Navy, mostly on a Corvette, but he did serve one year on a sweeper, but that was back during the war. It was his tales that inspired me to join up too.
