  1. This is a common question that's asked around here alot and always leads to some good discussions......and it will today too .......but it's sorta the same as which is the best outboard motor to buy. Myself, I've got a welded Crestliner that I'm very happy with and after 8 seasons it's still as sound as the day it was manufactured, but who knows, maybe it'll crack next time I use it. Others with riveted hulls will tell you their boat is superior. I think basically any boat built today by any of the big manufacturers will be good no matter how it's made, but that's just me.
  2. I just called the store down here near me Mo and they don't stock that item, so she checked her puter and it says it's not stocked by ANY Canadian Tire in Ontario I just got my new CTC flyer last night and it doesn't show anything even close to that on Page 6 They do have a heck of a deal on a set of pliers though, if yer interested
  3. Sounds like yesterday will go down as one of your worst ever Glen !! Sure hope those pills get you fixed up soon.
  4. Yeah, but things were lots better the 2nd time
  5. Hey Pat, it'll be good to see you on the river tomorrow, it's been a long time since Quinte
  6. Mornin chickenhawk, but if you wanna talk to us early risers, you need to be here about 4 hours ago
  7. Sounds like 4 buildings are gone Brian, including the Wellington Hotel ?? .....hopefully everyones safe. Thanks for the update Roy
  8. Their talkin on this mornings news about a large fire burning in Barrie right now. Hopefully none of our Barrie-ites are involved
  9. Dang, I musta been off sick the day we learned Greek mythology back in high school, cause I'm not sure if I've been slammed, praised or laffed at here
  10. 99% of our Quinte pickeral fishing is done after dark in the springtime, and we normally troll minnow baits in close to shore in 8 - 12 FOW and generally do very well. Most of our fish in the early spring are in the 2-5 pound range, although my nephew boated a 12+ pounder a few years back. Lots of folks jig for them in the daytime too and do well, but I can't help you there as I don't enjoy that type of fishing and seldom do it. We also get alot of decent pike in the daytime working jerkbaits over the fresh weedbeds. There's a whole smorgasborg of fish in Quinte, so you'll have no trouble enjoying your self there next spring....best of luck
  11. We do it every December Wayne, so mark your 2008 calander for 1 year from this Saturday and we'll see you there
  12. Roger, we'll try to launch at the same Marina where we always meet, about 7:30, but if it's frozen over (most likely) head up to the one at Frenchmans Creek, it's usually ice free in there. Gimme a call on my cell when you arrive if you can't find us......647-407-7931 Bring a BIG stringer with ya, I'm feeling lucky
  13. I've been fishing Quinte for over 50 years and have always been interested in the history of the region, and came across this article while researching the Hay Bay area this morning. Thought some of you familiar with Hay Bay may find it interesting, I know I did. http://www.aandc.org/research/drownings_hay_bay.html
  14. Another great video TJ, and ya gotta luv them Jumla's
  15. Wayne, that water appears slightly stiffer than when I was there with you a few weeks ago
  16. Guido, those 2 flies you tied in the picture are incredible !! VERY nice work indeed !!
  17. Beautiful pictures kickingfrog, thanks for posting them, and hopefully you won't mind if I save picture # 2 for my album ?? Glenn Island has a special meaning to me and I've never seen if from that vantage point before.
  18. But at least than you'll know it's fixed properly
  19. And don't forget Mo, now that your gonna heat your garage for the pooches, you'll want a detector out there too.
  20. Welcome aboard Hawg Hunter, you'll like it here. Sam has actually been a member of this board for a long time and is well known to many of us.
  21. Sorry for your loss Gary & condolances from Diane and I, Mom's are always a treasure. Sounds like your Mom lived a good life. I too remember when you originally posted that picture.
  22. I like the sounds of this, Brian
  23. Mo, your gonna see a huge difference with the winter tires. LOTS better traction, but you'll also notice you have much better steering control too as the front tires will also bite into the snow and stop you from sliding off the road on a curve......hopefully
  24. Mornin Pete, were getting some light snow here in the east end right now, so it'll probably slow down the morning drive again today, but the roads around here are in good shape. Good to see your prepared for the hiway and I usually carry the same things you have, and if I'm travelling outta town I carry extra clothing, just in case......extra parka, gloves, boots, touque. I think one of the worst mistakes folks make is NOT having winter tires on their vehicles, and thinking "all season tires" actually means ALL seasons. There'd be a whole bunch less problems if folks would just spend a bit of money and use proper tires during the winter months. Nuthin worse than being stuck behind someone who can't get up a small hill because his car is still rigged for July driving.
  25. You still had a MUCH better weekend than the guys that sat home on the couch all weekend !! Also, kudos to the pair of youz for hauling the stranded fishermen back to shore. You have the satisfaction of knowing you did the right thing, while others just ignored them and didn't care that they may have been in danger. Awesome report !!
