Mike, I keep my 1 cranking battery & 2 deep cycles in the basement, sitting up on a wooden shelf for the winter. I top them up with tap water when they go into storage, then fully charge them, and then recharge them every 2 months, and then a final charge before they go back in the boat in the springtime. All 3 of my batteries are 8 years old and are as strong as the 1st day I bought them and I NEVER use distilled water in them, just plain old tap water. I also charge them up throughout the season everytime I use the trolling motor for more than a couple hours. Keeping them fully charged ALL the time is the secret to long battery life.

That's what it's all about !! Great pictures -
Good to hear it's pumping water OK now Kevin, maybe you just didn't have enough water pressure coming outta the muffs last week.

Thanks folks, it's gonna be strange going back to work but I'm looking forward to it. Nope, it's actually a Honda dealer bassdreamer, I've gone over to the dark side

I've been retired for about 7 years now and luv it while I wander around the province fish'n & camping whenever & wherever I want, and even have the approval of my wonderful wife of 41 years, just as long as I phone home once in awhile to let her know where I'm at The last couple winters though have been pretty boring, so I decided this winter to get my butt back to work till the softwater season re-opens in May I checked out the local rag last week and found an ad from a car dealership just down the road looking for a part-time driver to deliver new cars around to different dealerships. I went over and talked to the guy and was hired on the spot, and made my 1st delivery today. It's gonna be good having something to do during the next few snowy months and a few extra $$$$ in my pocket for fishing toys won't hurt either. I've just never had a boss before that was 1/2 my age.....dang

I've got your solution Brian. Squid and I are going musky fishing on the Upper Niagara River on December 8th. Let Deepdiver grab your support from Merlands this weekend, then he can give it to Rick Then you drag your boat up to the Niagara River on December 8th and pick Rick up on the way.....he lives close by.....get your support from Rick, then the pair of youz meet Pete & I at the boatramp and we all go fishing for the day. Problem solved
-
Thanks Mike but it's nothing to worry about, many folks didn't understand.
-
C'mon Steve, now really, why on earth would anyone ever wanna say nasty things about something as purdy as a musky

Good to see you made it home OK Mo, guess you missed the mess on the 400 ?? It's bad both ways now between Finch & 7

Lots of people found it pretty hilarious that Mel called in the Army, but we'd had a ton of snow that week and with all the comuters that come & go in this city, the roads became clogged with cars and one of the biggest problems we had, as Huey Graphite mentioned, was getting the Emergency vehicles around to where they were needed in a hurry. I was working that week.....I was a fireman in Toronto and drove an aerial truck..... and getting around to many of the calls was nearly impossible. It was even worse trying to get ambulances around with sick & injured people. The MAIN reason the Army was called in to help, was with their large personnel carriers, with multi wheel drive, to help transport the many patients to the hospitals thru the drifts and clogged roads that were impassible to the ambulances. With out the Army and their equipment, who knows what may have happened. It's pretty tough to keep a city the size of Toronto moving after a major snowstorm, and with about 1,000,000 commuters coming into the city everyday, and then many of them just abandoning their cars in the middle of the roads, desperate measures need to be taken sometimes. Sure the Army helped clear some snow, but their main purpose was MUCH more important Those of us that work in Emergency Services knew what was going on with the Army, and were happy to have them aboard. When the American Army Reserve is called in to help the cities & towns in emergencies, everyone thinks it's a good deal, but when it happens up here, everybody thinks it's a joke. Was it any different when the Army came to help up here during the ice storm a few years back......or was that a joke too ?? Living in small towns with little traffic is one thing, but when storms hit major centers, drastic action sometimes needs to be taken. If you don't know.....don't critcize

If you haven't stuck your nose out the door yet, you may want to give yerself and extra few minutes heading into work this mornin. I just got back in from driving around for awhile and there's freezing rain right now.....at least in Toronto anyways.....so you'll need to do a bit of scraping before taking off. Roads are a bit dicey too. Where the heck is that global warming they've promised us

Yup, you Quebecers sure are wonderful.......

If the power isn't a big deal to you Kyle, you'll like the truck, but definetely get the 4 x 4 for those nasty winters up there.
-
Kyle, I bought a new Dakota in 2001 with the v-6, auto It was a nice truck and rode well, but I found it way underpowered. Not bad around town, but pretty gutless on the hiway if I needed to pass anyone, and when I was towning my boat, it was a dog. I only kept it 3 years then got rid of it because of the lack of power. If you can find one with the 4.7 I think you'll be much happier with it, although there were alot of issues with the front end on those trucks and Chrysler refusing to admit it, even went so far as to have a segment on 60 Minutes before they'd admit the problem and have a recall on them. There's a good website dedicated to Dakotas and you can get all the info you need www.dodgedakotas.com
