  1. Like Wayne, I also attach my Knipex to the boat 'cept I use a long coiled telephone cord. It coils up to nothing when not being used but can reach anywhere in the boat when needed. You can see them on the floor beside the drivers seat. Those cutters are too darned expensive to drop in the drink. And FWIW, when trolling with rods in the holders, I also attach them to the boat with 4' wire cable incase they come outta the holders, which I have seen happen under the strain of huge baits.
  2. Muskies are a blast anytime Paul, but getting them in total darkness is a whole nuther kinda fun Congrats on your 1st musky Kwan !!
  3. Very nice Mike, looks like you've had a great summer with some really nice fish !!
  4. I've never tried river fishing, and perhaps I won't. Always seems like such an unfriendly place.
  5. I bought a new boat, motor & trailer in '99 and payed cash for everything in full including all taxes. Couple years later I got a letter from the government asking for proof I payed the taxes so I sent a copy of the bill of sale. Couple years later I get another letter asking for proof of taxes being payed so once again I sent a copy of the bill of sale. Sure enough, a couple years go by and I get yet another letter asking for proof of taxes payed. I ignored that one and have never heard back from them, but I still have the bill of sale even though I no longer own that boat. It's tough dealing with in-competance.
  6. Yeah, those darned city kids eh ?? Nuthin but a bunch of thieves.
  7. Now THAT was funny
  8. Get yourself a GOOD set of cutters Matt, infact get Knipex if you can. Their fairly spendy but someone mentioned earlier that you can now get them in one of the box stores so that'll probably be less money. If you happen to get your hand hooked up with a musky in a bad mood, the last thing you want is cheap cutters that won't do the trick. I can cut 7/0 hooks with one hand with my Knipex. If you can back a hook out of the mouth with no trouble, go ahead, but if not simply cut them off and grab the pieces with the long nosed pliers....you DO have long nosed pliers, right ?? Hooks are cheap and very easy to change, infact I've probably got at least 100 spare hooks in my boat of varying sizes from 4/0 up to 7/0
  9. Most serious muskie fishermen are happy to see others catch a fish, specially their 1st or biggest, but every now & then one will definetely spoil the post with un-wanted comments, but it's best to just ignore them and enjoy the moment.
  10. I know I do, darned thing near took my thumb off
  11. It's only my opinion, but it seems to me medical science should be much further along in the treatment of so many of these terrible diseases than they are. Things like MS, MD, ALS, cancers, Alzheimers and whatever else. They've been researching and studying these things forever and have had untold millions or billions of $$$$ donated, yet basically they can't really cure so many of them. Some diseases seem like they can be slowed down somewhat, but still not cured. My dad died of Alzheimers 14 years ago and we were told there was absolutely nothing that could be done to help him. My brother died of incurable cancer a few years ago and my best bud died 5 days ago from cancer that had spread thru half his body and again, the docs said they could do nothing. Both my wifes parents died from cancer plus too many friends and aquaintances to count. We've all lost too many friends and loved ones to these things and I'm sure others feel the same way as me but who knows Didn't mean to rant so early on this fine day, but it's just sad to see so many good folks dying far too early because doctors have no idea how to cure them.
  12. Yup, it's a shame so many of them go down the drain.
  13. If you do get out there fishing Steve, I hope you have a great trip and am looking forward to seeing the pictures.
  14. Congrats on the musky, the 1st one is always the hardest to catch. I'd highly recommend a proper musky net instead of the Boga. A bit awkward by yourself at 1st but you'll get the hang of it after a couple fish.
  15. Sounds like competition for the SHO ??
  16. Meele's an excellent musky fisherman and I'm just curious as to why you'd ask a question like that ?? We just had a thread on that topic go down the drain yesterday.
  17. Atta boy Meeley
  18. Surprisingly, one of our most productive night time spots was a barren mudflat with very sparse weed growth in 8-10 FOW.
  19. Two weeks in August on the West Arm of Nippissing, as has become the norm the last few years, and I can't think of another place I'd rather be.
  20. We wouldn't even head out until sunset and then the bite would usually last 2-3 hours then shut down. Always had the most luck in around 8 FOW. This was always in May, I don't know how it works the rest of the year as that's the only time I ever fished for pickeral.
  21. Spent many many years trolling for night time eyes in Quinte. Blue & white minnow baits 100' back fooled em every time
  22. It's a tough fight Kelvin, but we're all pulling for your wife.
  23. My backs hurting too Brian, but it's probably cause I stacked a cord of hardwood today
  24. I like to think it just means we taught them well
  25. Your definetely living the good life Drew and as always, thanks for taking us along for the ride !!
