  1. Sheesh Paul, 1/2 the fun of fishing new water is figuring it out, finding the structure and what the fish are looking for. If your gonna call a buddy for help as soon as you can't find a fish, you may as well sell your sonar and call a seafood distributor and order some fish for delivery
  2. Get yourself a set of Knipex cutters Simon, you can easily cut any sized hook with one hand. Kinda spendy but well worth the $$$$ when your hung up with a thrashing fish on the other end of the lure and you need to get free in a hurry.
  3. I guess "OUCH" would about sum that up That's not the way it's sposed to be done Simon
  4. I don't know anything about them but evidently their a MK repair center Boat Tech 1058 Copperstone Dr Pickering 905-686-5008 Or there's Aikmens in the west and their pretty good.
  5. What can we say
  6. Just remember though Mike, one 50 inch fish is better that ten 45 inchers
  7. shhhh, I was trying to keep that pond a secret Steve
  8. Plenty of good fish in the Kawarthas Mike with lots up to 50" and over. Certainly not as large as the fish from some of the bigger bodies of water but every bit as spunky. What the Kawarthas lose in size is made up by numbers and it's not at all unusual to bag 6 or 7 a day which certainly keeps things from getting boring.
  9. I agree Grimace, lotsa good products on the market these days. Pretty well just boils down to personal preference and customer service.
  10. I had a fella at the house here recently with a brand new Ram with all the bells & whistles. He said he'd always owned F-150's before but wanted to try something different and said the Ram rode much nicer than the Ford. I still like my Ford though
  11. Time to get a Yamaha Mike
  12. Yeah, I like that, nice colour too !!

    Bears

I always find it kind of ironic that people think it's perfectly fine to kill all the animals they want for sport, but as soon as an animal kills a human everybody wants it destroyed cause it's dangerous. Sorta like everyone says to destroy all the cormorants cause their eating too many fish, but when a fisherman goes out and catches a boat full of fish, everyone congratulates him and says what a great fisherman he is. Kinda funny really.
  14. Good to hear everythings looking better Mike. Grandfather's are tough guys, that's how they lasted long enough to get old
  15. Nope, but they were well fed

    Bears

Agree with you 100% but it seems like some folks just like to slaughter every animal they encounter. We've had plenty of encounters around here since I moved in a couple years back. They've been on my front lawn, the driveway another time and in the back yard on several occasions and everyone else on the road has had them too, specially in the early spring. Their just hungry after a long winters nap and looking for an easy meal but nobodies ever had a serious encounter with them. Just this morning I watched a show about black bears up in Anchorage Alaska and the darned things are everywhere and wandering around town like lost cats. They claim even up there where folks SHOULD know better they still put the garbage out too early and the bears have a feast. They still don't kill the bears though unless absolutely necessary, they just dart them and haul their butts away although they admitted they normally find their way back.

    Member map

Nothing to worry about Roy, I was just curious is all.
  18. I haven't looked at the Member Map in a long time but when I went to look at it this morning all I got was a box saying this website needs a GOOGLE maps API key. What's that all about ??
  19. Happy Birthday Roy & all the best to ya !!
  20. If your gonna be right in downtown Peterboro maybe have a look at Little Lake on George St. Lots of parking in the area plus a few restaurants for when your finished fishing. There's a marina right there but I have no idea if they'll charge for launching the canoe but even so it wouldn't be much. Never fished Little Lake myself but it's a pretty spot and I've heard there's some good fish in there.
  21. At one time in Ontario, loooong before you were born, they were ALWAYS called pickeral and walleye was a term only used by Americans. Your right though Stoty, pickeral isn't the proper name for them but for 1000's of folks, ...mostly older and me included...pickeral is still the name of them and always will be.
  22. It's getting close Fred and let's make a point of getting out together again this year. The waters alot higher so we'll be able to get back into some of the better spots unlike 2 years ago. Sorry to the OP for the hijack
  23. I agree Rob and we all complained to the park owner about it and that was the reason the cat was no longer allowed back.
  24. Years ago a woman came to see friends in our trailer park and brought her pet cougar along for the weekend. They went out to visit somewhere and left the cat tied to a tree on the front lawn. My daughter was dozing on the beach getting a suntan and woke up when the cougar started to lick her face after pulling free from his leash The cat took off after that and was found later wandering thru backyards half way down the lake. The cat was banned from the park permanently after that.
  25. Interesting you say that Fred as a neighbor just told me wife recently that marigolds planted in a vegetable garden would keep bugs away.
