That's the part I find strange actually, the fact that I HAVEN'T seen a snake around here all summer when they could be having a feast with all these frogs. I've got some toads around here as well but their all in the vegetable garden...guess they must like tomatoes

The last couple weeks I've seen more frogs than I have in years. I just finished cutting all my grass and must have seen 40 of them jumping outta the way. I've talked to other guys on the road and everyone is seeing the same thing this year. I guess it's a good thing as I remember reading a couple years ago where frogs were on the decline all over the world and nobody seemed to know why. Anybody else seeing a HUGE increase in them ??

What happened to Shimano's customer service :(
lew replied to buckhorn250's topic in General Discussion
I've been using Shimano gear for many years and have always found it to be excellent. I've had to have a few items repaired at the P'Boro office and have always been very pleased with their service. Couple years back I had a Calcutta that stopped working and dropped it off to them and picked it up the next day. It was made like new again and there was no charge. It wasn't under warranty, but was still a freebee. Sad to hear these stories now of how the service is no longer what it used to be. -
Sorry to hear things aren't going as hoped Wayne. Best of luck to Jen with her further treatments.

Ain't that the truth

If this was the 3 Mile Lake you were referring to, I could have told you about a rather large amount of fishing tackle laying on the bottom of the lake. Items include several fish'n poles complete with reels, 3 metal tackle boxes, a very large selection of lures, plus assorted other items related to fishing and boating. I know this because 40 years ago my brother stood up to pee over the side of the boat, and in the process he flipped the boat throwing me, our father and himself into the rather cold and deep water of 3 mile lake. It's actually a much funnier story when told around a campfire while consuming copious amounts of beer.

I was in a small Kawartha trailer park for many years and with only 20 trailers, we were all friends and never had a problem with stealing. There were some cabins too and we never had a problem with them either, until one year when 4 young guys rented a cabin for the entire summer. None of these guys worked but they always had money for smokes and booze and spent their days running around in a bass boat with a 200 HP motor. Not long after they moved in, guys started losing gas from their boats while tied at the docks, but the ones with no jobs always had plenty. My son decided to set a trap and put an old gas tank in his boat with only a gallon of gas, then topped it off with three 750 ML bottles of COKE then set the can in the boat in plane view. Jim checked the can the next day and most of it was gone. Couple days later I happened to be sitting down at the beach and saw these guys take off in the boat, but after only going about 1/4 mile the motor started to cough and sputter, then quit. Someone eventually towed them back in and they started working on the motor. They couldn't restart it so they cranked it up onto a trailer and hauled it outta the park. We never saw them again and they never returned to the park, so we all just assumed they learned a lesson and realised they had stolen from the wrong people. Wonder what it cost to repair that big ole 200 Merc

I've got several of these electrical doo-dads in the garage to keep critters out and so far I've never had even so much as a mouse....touch wood.

Amazing how many world record muskies are lost boatside before any pictures are taken Sounds like you boys had another great trip as always Joe

I didn't say he was wrong at all Rich, go back and read what I said again. The man said to never store anything in a barn because he had trouble with mice, I simply stated that I had used a barn for many years without ANY issues.
-
Perhaps you missed my reply earlier in this thread where I said I stored my boat in a barn for many years with absolutely ZERO issues, along with 6 or 7 other boats as well. Just because you had issues doesn't mean everyone does. Do you honestly think your boat will be safe from critters just because it's stored outside under a tarp or even shrink wrapped ?? I know a guy who thought the same as you, that barns were unsafe places to store boats, so he left his beside his cottage and covered it. When he opened it up in the spring the raccoons had destroyed the interior. Critters can get in anywhere, specially mice, so we just do what we can and hope for the best.

Can't speak for anyone else danbob, but for me I like 80 pound PP for casting and 100 pound for trolling. For leaders, I make my own using 130 pound Seaguar fluoro, crimps and #5 Swivels.

Have a great day Bruce and good luck with the new fish'n pole. I haven't been on Pigeon yet this year and have no plans on it this week either, but ya never know when plans may change.
-
There's thousands of VERY expensive yachts shrink wrapped and stored outside every winter with no problems and there won't be any with a tin boat either. As DanD suggested, just be sure it's done by an expert and you'll have no worries.
-
If there's any farms around your area go talk to the farmer about keeping it in his barn. There's lots of farms around the Kawartha area offering outdoor storage and many that have indoor as well. I stored my boat in a barn for years and the most I ever payed was $150 for the entire winter. Couple bowls of moth balls left inside and I never once had a critter problem of any kind.

Yes they do...until they try the Beckman Pen But as I said above, it's only my opinion and I was just trying to offer another suggestion.
