  1. You certainly don't need to travel to LOTW to learn how to get fish on a figure 8. All muskies will hit an 8 and ANY lake that has muskies is a good spot for a newbie to learn how to do it.
  2. Will do Rich, looking forward to it myself.
  3. Wonderful picture and she definitely got my vote.
  4. Very nice indeed.
  5. Yeah Bill, at 50 MPH you should get most of the summer from a tank of gas.
  6. Yeah, nothing ever changes Phil
  7. If guys are worried about fuel consumption with an outboard motor they should buy a 12' tinnie with a 9.9 and never go above trolling speed.
  8. Yeah, if they were Yammies they'd be nice rigs for sure Wayne
  9. Yeah, their sure nice to have around Brian.
  10. This pair of Cardinals spends most of their time around my feeders and I got this pic yesterday morning before I got the snow cleared off. Not a good picture as it was taken through a glass door but they sure are purty to watch.
  11. Great video !! Catching muskies on an 8 is without doubt the most exciting way to get them. Nothing better than seeing a big girl twisting & turning trying to grab your bait and then just hammering it and the fight is on. If your not doing an 8 or at least a circle after EVERY cast you missing alot of fish.
  12. Best of luck for your wife Bruce.
  13. Wife and I had to drive out to Brampton yesterday and I was't looking forward to the 100 odd mile drive back home with the 6" of snow they were calling for, along with all the usual insanity of the 401 across Toronto that comes with it. We got lucky though and started the homeward trip at 3:00 before the snow started. Even with the dry roads though, the insanity of the 401 was still there.
  14. Saw a truck awhile back Brian with a bumper sticker that read .... "Yes it's my truck and no you can't borrow it" Thought that was pretty good
  15. Jeeeez Terry, that poor critter may be worse off than the one that got eaten by the fox
  16. I see the odd Bald Eagle soaring around here but don't know if even they could pick up a fox. Funny thing , since the little guy got grabbed this morning I haven't seen another squirrel all day.
  17. My dad grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan during the Depression and always told us the same story about being 40-50 below zero but because it was dry you didn't feel it too bad....I always told him he was nuts. A scary story though was because of the insane blizzards and whiteouts they'd get with the winds howling across the prairies all winter, they'd run a rope from the house to the barn so they could find their way back & forth when they had to head out to feed & care for the animals.
  18. Not sure what's worse, the constant whining about winter or the never ending ramblings about "deflategate" Seems no matter what channel I put on it's ALWAYS there
  19. I've never been a fan of seeing live animals ripped apart, but it's nature & it is what it is. There's plenty of critters around here and it's always nice to see them.
  20. There's always a couple squirrels hanging around the feeder so now that the fox knows their here I'd imagine he'll be keeping a close watch around here. Couple years back I had another feeder in the back yard and there was a red squirrel that stayed close by to pick up the seeds that dropped. A big ole Barred Owl decided he'd like that little squirrel for supper and took up residence in a nearby tree where he had a clear view of everything. He was here a few days but never got the squirrel and he left. Kinda nice having him around though.
  21. I have bird feeders on the front lawn and usually have a couple squirrels around that pick up what falls on the ground. I was looking out the window 10 minutes ago and outta nowhere a fox came flying across the lawn, grabbed the squirrel, shook the daylights out of him and killed him before he even knew what happened. The fox then ran down the road carrying his breakfast with him. The whole thing start to finish probably didn't take 10 seconds.
  22. Good to know there was a cottager willing to risk his life to help a stranger.
  23. I was coming east across Gerard St in Toronto one day and turned north onto Broadview right at the Don Jail. As I came around the corner there was a cop car at the curb and as I passed him he pulled out, came in behind me and flashed his red lights. I pulled over and he walked up to my car. I joked that I KNEW I wasn't speeding & I KNEW I hadn't run a red light and he laughed and said "no you didn't, but you made an illegal left turn back there" I apologized and said "OK I guess you got me, I didn't realize there was no left turn there" He smiled & simply said to pay more attention next time and have a good day Sir. Your right Cliff, most are good guys just doing a job.
  24. I drilled the hole for the locking pin larger and use a padlock in it. Unfortunate that we have to lock everything these days but sadly we share this planet with a whole bunch of garbage.
  25. Outstanding picture MB & certainly worth a "like" from me.
