  1. To make a comeback from that long off and go to 185 pounds is remarkable and unprecedented in any sport let alone MMA. He looked huge, most likely 195 by the time the fight started. It rivals Ali's comeback from his boxing suspension. Actually I think it may be bigger because Ali had to fight, he was broke, GSP didn't need to fight, he was bored. I think he may be Canada's greatest athlete of all time, including Gretzky. Everyone fighting in MMA is one strike or hold from loosing or winning. I need to watch the replay I was told GSP wasn't dominant up to the point he chocked out Bisping. I like Bisping, I was surprised he was beaking off up to the fight but someone has to be the guy to stir the pot to sell more pay per view. Ali was the first to spout off at the mouth in Boxing, he learned that from seeing Gorgeous George promote wrestling when he was a kid according to his autobiography. edit: Just watched the finish on mma-core.com. He won this fight with a sharp left hook, Bisping didn't know where he was after that, 8 sort strikes while on the ground and zero defense from Michael Bisping when GSP put the choke on him, Bisping was out of it when that hook caught him. And a class act post fight. There will be a rematch.
  2. I plan on ice fishing daily this winter. Fishing my Rolling Rock out of the ice in the cooler sitting on some pier in Florida for the month of January, maybe longer. Starting in Charlotte Harbor and work our way down to the Keys. Come on ice fishing.
  3. Yep, the writer fishes. One of the best descriptions of why one fishes I have heard.
  4. That is ridiculous. They walk out into traffic? Are you kidding?
  5. That nane rings a bell. I swear there was a Tessone that lost his life at Maitland a few years back.
  6. We are always a week behind the news here G. Thanks for the update. Condolences to his family.
  7. It is very dangerous to go out onto that pier when winds are up. Especially at dark, I don't understand the risks we sometimes take, including myself. More than a few times I have been caught out here on Erie and I know I should have gone in earlier or turned around. https://www.sachem.ca/news-story/7766978-missing-persons-investigation-underway-in-port-maitland/
  8. Distracted driving. Too many long hours for too little pay. Doctored log books. Something like 5000 tractor trailer accidents and 68 relayed deaths this year. As soon as a trucker puts 3 car lengths between him and the next car someone cuts in the space.
  9. Are the playoffs coming up? I know by birth I am supposed to be a hockey fan but I just can't. I actually feel like a traitor. I was a fan until I was told by Don Awrey who's brother was a neighbour to play football or baseball because I can't skate. Anyone remember Mr. Awrey? A Canuck who can't skate, that hurts.
  10. I forgot I had a 86' YJ Jeep. Part AMC, Ford and GM. If it was going to rain it wouldn't start, if it sprinkled it wouldn't start if it rained forget about it. 2 bolts and 3 wires you could change the starter. I carried a spare starter and a fresh 12V battery unless I parked it indoors and a can of WD40. They didn't have battery boosters then. Ask me if I liked the thing? Yep I did, doors off, top off and to the beach and back 30 years and 30 pounds of muscle ago, in the summer shirt off of course. Best heater I ever had and never got stuck in snow. 3 timing chains latter I traded it not running for 20 sheets of 5/8ths plywood.
  11. I just figured out how to use my text on the smart phone. I still can't post pics here. Almost. You want to see fishporn, I'll show you fishporn, someday. It is my laptop for certain, it won't upload pics from the phone or camera now. What do you expect for a 75 buck Laptop from a guy on James St. North in Hamilton at 2AM? Wanna buy a Rolex buddy? Actually I didn't buy a stolen Laptop, it was refurbished for 250 bucks from my sis in law and you get what you pay for. The days of buying illegal swag are over in the old neighbourhood. Not fair to the guy that lost It. Same as tools, some poor guy goes to work to support a family only to find his tools gone in the morning. We don't support that stuff these days. We actually will make the crack/opiate heads take them back. Usually they don't remember where they got them. It's sad.
  12. It is more than quality of construction, it all depends on what conditions you run your boat in. I fish Erie, big water and sometimes big chop. My 23 year old StarCraft that has lived in Erie it's lifetime is riveted and is dry as a bone. We rebuilt a 19' StarCraft 2 winters ago, replaced over 350 rivets. The guy runs that boat hard and runs in a circle with his 150 Yammy WOT to create wakes he can bust, over and over again. When there are 4'ers he takes her out and bangs them hard with wakeboarders in tow. He complains his boat is leaking now, no shirt Sherlock. True conversation. Ed, " Johnny D I'm out on the lake and the boat is taking on water" "OK, you need a tow?" He actually says " Not yet, we are hammering the Perch." What do you say to that? The guy is a nutbar and I love it.
  13. I know zero about sleds and sled trailers. What I do know is folks are willing to give away 15' plastic boats and trailers because it will cost them a grand or more to take that boat into the dump to get rid of it and that's after they cut them into pieces. We have more than a few nice boat trailers and guys are buying them for their sleds and ATV's. We get rid of the boats by digging graves with the backhoe at buddies farm. In 500 years Aliens will be saying this area must have been under water at some time, Aliens can be idiots. If anyone is interested in a trailer to retrofit PM me.
  14. Is it a Dodge Ram? If it is well there's your problem. I had a Chrysler Intrepid, leased from new and bought outright 3 years latter. No less than 3 Computer Communication Modules go on it at around a grand a piece after 80K. By the time the 3rd went in 18 months(30 day part warranty) I drove it and when it went into limp mode I had to pull over, shut it off and restart it. I knew one lady that had to pull over and pull a relay under the hood to get her 300 going again. Drove like that until I needed meds for anxiety attacks. Drove a shinny car into the wrecker, removed the 60 buck floor mats and took my 400 bucks. Why I didn't throw a brick trough the window is beyond me. I will never own a Chrysler if you gave me a Challenger Hellcat for free, (ok maybe) never again. Sorry Dodge owners. Never again.
  15. Backfire in as far as some people will consider if there are Walleye there they must be edible. I know there are some that will eat them regardless of warnings and the eating guides provided by the Ministry. A fish here and there won't kill you but if you knew what was dumped in there up to the late 70's you wouldn't even wade in that water at Pier 4. I fell in once when working as a weekend student in the early 70's (don't ask). It took a few seconds before I broke through the crud on the surface at the East Side Lagoon at Stelco. I looked like the Creature of the Black Lagoon when I was pulled out, black from head to toe covered in who knows what. The hospital treated me like I was in a Nuclear fallout accident. I spend 2 nights in the General. Which was a good thing I suppose, scared the Bejeezus out of me actually so I am somewhat weary of that water. Back then it was control pollution by dilution.
  16. Back in 04' I did some work in England. I needed a fax machine and would go into Estate Agencies (Real Estate offices) and beg and borrow for their machines. I struck up a conversation with a few guys who were very avid fishermen. Long story short they came to my area and rented a place for a week and caught more trophy Carp then they had ever seen in their lives. They actually bought a place near us and had it for a few years and came every spring into summer and rented it out to other mates. Then I steered them to Florida during the recession, sold here and bought there. I have a standing invite to Fla. on the Gulf, no charge for the last 10 years and we have taken them up on it a few times including this coming January for a month. I love networking. You never know, the next random person you meet may gift you a free place to stay saving 4 grand in rent. We always leave a gift behind like a new BBQ or patio furniture. Those guys live to fish. Johnny D
  17. I hear you bud. We bought there as they had the best selection for 2011's as the 2012's had already been out for a few months plus an old pal got the commission. I went for service there 3 times and then tapped out. Terrible service, plus it's 45 minutes to get there for me. Like I said all show and no go. I don't need WIFI or to look at a big screen to see where my truck is in que. I need an oil and filter change in less than 90 minutes, and that's with an appointment booked. The last time after an hour I asked for my keys back and they begged me not to leave because they knew I wasn't coming back. Stopped at Searle's in Caledonia on the way home and had the truck serviced in less than 40 minutes, no appointment. On my way out of Bear I stopped in to talk to the GM and gave him my 2 cents. I bet 60% of all vehicles I have owned since 72' were Silver Grey as is my silver Silverado. My wife's black Altima looks dirty because of water spots pulling out of the car wash.
  18. Always nice to see that smile on ya big guy. I can't imagine when you do get angry. I as well have caught a few big Smallies using the only Musky lure I have. A 24 year old steel/tin 10" Floating Rappala Perch. I use it when I know the Bass are feeding out back and bet those that it will actually catch a Bass with a plug that ridiculously big. I usually win or fish until I do.
  19. Definitely talk to Mike, he will not steer you wrong. When we used to go up to Klotz Lake the outfitter had 14' boats on back lakes in the area and you got to them driving the Kimberly Clark logging roads to specific mile markers. We would run into fishermen that paid for fly-ins only to find out you can drive in for many dollars less and not be confined to 1 lake only. Something to consider. Those Yanks were not too happy to see us. That is until they realized we would drop off a few cases of Beer, ice and munchies for them at the top of the hill, more than once. Could have made some nice easy money but couldn't do that to them.
  20. You lost some weight Dave. I saw a custom bike in town that was heading to Friday the 13th bike rally in Port Dover. A full blown V8 pushing 500 HP. That's what I really want, to straddle 500 horse at 7000 RPM mere inches from my future legacies. Heck Hugh Hefner had kids in his late 70's. Hold on Nelly!
  21. They may have used the Walleye as a Litmus test to ascertain true water quality in the Bay. It may have backfired, we know there will be some people that will eat them.
  22. Ya gotta love Photoshop eh Big Dave. Nice fish you have there. Same camo as you have, planned?
  23. Good stuff there. I really miss getting up at 04:30 to do anything, and I mean anything. And welcome aboard FF. Keep those videos coming, I now live vicariously through some of you youngsters. Don't take the ability to get out on the water anytime you want for granted. 3 days recovery just to get in and out of a nice big boat.
  24. Isn't that always the way. We fish in order out on Erie or Ontario for the monster Wally's and or Rainbow and Salmon. We go in order. Of course when you're up you have to go below to the head or aim in the bucket. That is usually when the rod fires. Post penile drip is a real thing. Nothing funnier than seeing a guy on the rod with his pants below his knees, actually I turn my head away, nothing like looking at a 60 something year olds saggy Gatchis (really a word?). Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. This past Sept. out in 25 to 30 feet of water dropshotting giant shiner's for Smallies, doesn't Dominic get a 11 pound Pic that is supposed to be in 90 feet of water. You never know.
