It must be good stuff then Mr.G, but will it seal a leak in the hull?

Elderly neigbours. ya gotta love them.
Old Ironmaker replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
She is the sweetest lady one will ever meet. Soft spoken, would never say poo if she had a mouth full, I have never heard her speak ill about anyone. The summer after her husband passed I spent a week to rebuild her stairs going down to the beach after it got washed away over the winter and she made me a smoothie one day when it was 30C. A pal stopped by to ask me to go fishing with him the next AM, I said I was too busy working for a smoothie, he told me I was insane. He was right. She didn't ask I volunteered, just like everything else I did for her come to think of it. I dunno. I must be an idiot. Maybe I do these kind things to make up for my not so kind youth. I was bullied until I was about 15 or 16. My father lied about my age and I went to work for a contractor in the steel mills the summer of grade 10 to grade 10, grew 6" and gained a good 40 pounds of muscle. I made a list of all those guys that made my life not so nice, I didn't include the 3 girls I had to run away from school everyday or they would give it to me too. A week never went by when I didn't beat the crap out of someone that was on the "list" and some that most likely didn't have it coming that weren't on the list. We got into fights because we were bored. We would drive out of town knowing a bar room brawl was in the future because we would hit on the country boys dates. The bully became a bully really. So for the past 30 or so years that I wasn't the person I am now I ask that if and when I get a chance to stand before St. Peter I get to tell my side of the story. I ran into one of those girls that terrorized me 25 years latter at a restaurant. I said out loud to my now wife, "That's Rosie Z. the girl that used to beat me up in grade 5." Rosie said "I thought that was you, you were so cute we had to get your attention somehow." Try saying hi instead. We had a laugh over it. I better write a letter to Dr. Phil. Sorry all, I think the anesthesia and pain meds they gave me yesterday is still working. Time for a nap. -
Thanks Wayne, looks easy enough, now watch what happens when I do it. Thank you both. I stand corrected. I am just so biased from being on iboats.com where most all of the Guru's there call all this stuff Snake Oil. Snake Oil or not I'm using it, like I say it helps me sleep during those cold winters nights. Many times I have awoken in a cold sweat trying to remember if I did everything I was supposed to do winterizing the boat. I don't need to make a $7000.00 mistake and freeze up my outboard or leave water in the bilge and crack the hull or pop some rivets. After the 1st few times I did it myself I finally made a checklist and checked off everything I did, so in the middle of the night I check the check list if I remember where I put it. I used to pay the "guy" to do the winterizing and it wasn't cheap. Once I watched a few You Tube videos and saw it done by Featherstone Ted I smacked my head against the boat because it really is simple. As long as I have my checklist when I do it. Besides doing the winterizing it's good to look around while the cowl is off for anything that looks amiss and remove the props grease and to check for line etc. I found 2 screws missing and 2 screws backed off on the carb cover the other day. I tightened them up and made a note to replace the missing screws, where they fell who knows. I stuck a wire magnet down where no small hand will even fit and found a screw but not that screw. I may not sleep until I find where it came from. Owning a boat is so rewarding.

Just catching the end of that program. We have lost a few family members during WW2, military and civilian that I never knew about until a few years back, my father never talks about that time. We must never forget the sacrifices made by a few brave for so many.

Finally had the Sinus surgury yesterday.
Old Ironmaker replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
I hope I have the same results as you Fisherman. The Doc said she drained 2 large cavities of puss that fed the infection that fed the pustules that fed the infection. A cycle of Sinusitis that would not go away. My breathing is getting better by the hour today, whooorahh. If I have to go in and have this done twice a year I will, my back hurts more from lying on those things they call beds more than my face does. She also told my wife that my energy levels should get back to normal as well. I didn't sleep for more than an hour at a time because it felt like I had a yap full of beach sand from mouth breathing. -
Pinery PP closes in advance of "occupation"

Here we go again, again. It isn't going to get any better. The last protest here in Caledonia had absolutely nothing to do with land in Caledonia, not even the same county. And it was a land claim between 2 factions of First Nations groups, not even against the Feds or the Province. They knew the economic and social impact here would bring more attention. The only good thing was the O.P.P. showed up in force within a week and told them to clear the blockade across Hwy. 6, and they miraculously did, it was about time. Isn't it a coincidence that the 3500 houses they have built and continue to build today well within 10 miles of the Grand River has gone off without a hitch. I have been told the builders paid $1,000,000.00 in extortion fees to the Haudenosaunee Development Corporation (formerly known as La Cosa Nostra, La Manna Negra or Mafia) . Even 1/2 that is 500K too much. -
I should have had it years ago. Plenty of bleeding but virtually painless, uncomfortable but painless. Once I cleaned all the dry blood out this morning I can actually breath out of both nostrils for the first time in years. I don't know why I waited 12 years to do something about it. Thanks to all here that shared their experiences and encouraged me to do something about it. Hopefully it just works beyond today. I highly recommend Dr. Elizabeth Jenney out of Hamilton. Terrible bed side manner but that's not what I want most in a Surgeon, the pretty nurses make up for that.

Elderly neigbours. ya gotta love them.
Old Ironmaker replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
It is a true story, some artistic licence has been taken for entertainment purposes, like most stories. This isn't the first time I've been taken advantage of by the elderly or physically unable. It's my nature plus some paying it forward. My Father is the worse to take advantage of neighbours, the worse. All his life he knew each and every skill neighbours and co-workers had. He would ask the electrician across the street to do him a "little" favour and the next thing the poor guy knew he was fishing wire through a ceiling to hook up a ceiling fan. The plumber next door was asked to look at the drip in the shower and he's tearing the wall out to re plumb the tub and shower, and tiling it too. I always played stupid and the useless one and left all the repairs including putting a new roof including trusses on the garage to my not much younger brother. Now I guess I'm making up for my Father getting others to do for him because I didn't, maybe, I missed 7 years of Phycology school. When I bought my first home my father came over when I was doing the rec room. He wanted to know when the heck I learned all this? I always knew Dad, you just never bothered to ask me for help because you said I was too stupid to do anything beside play sports so I just played stupid. As far as announcing to the world one grows dope at the same place you have your young family living all that I can say is "Loose lips sink ships." Balance deleted. You aren't a stupid man Rick, don't do stupid things no matter how many reasons you have in your head to justify them. An addict will steal anything they don't use to sell so they can feed their habit, weed included. -

Guess who got their medical marijowanna card? As long as those plants don't contain ,more that 10 to 15% THC I am told you are good to go. I would be careful as to how many million people you tell you grow dope to on the Internet, not a smart move. 50 plants 1/2 pound yield per at around $1600.00 a pound wholesale, $40,000.00 sitting in your house with 10 kids living there, real smart of you, really smart move. Especially where you live. You told me they will kill you for a dozen oxyies. Real smart Rick. -

Afford it, 17 years ago when her husband was alive sold their Ancaster farm to a developer for 6 Million. 17 years ago. -
Vance mentioned in another thread that his neighbour checked to see if his snow blower was ready to go because he does her snow. She can't be too elderly because she was on her way to work. We have elderly neighbours, my wife is 55 or 57 can't remember and she is the youngest here by far. My sweet 86 year old next door neighbour is a nice old lady. 4 or 5 years ago she mentioned that the couple that waters her plants moved away and doesn't know what to do. Having empathy as my folks are still alive and someday I hope there will be a young 60 year old that doesn't require copious amounts of meds a day just to take the trash out once a week will be kind to me some day. Of course you know what stupid said. She takes me inside to show me her plants, I didn't realize her Sunroom has 40 plants in it alone, plus the terrarium and about 25 others throughout her home. Proceeds to tell me how much each plant is to have, 1/2 cup every other day for this whatever you call it, this one 2 cups thrice a week, if this leaf turns this colour cut the leaf back 1/2 inch from the darkest portion, on this plant cut it back to 1" from the stalk, and, and, and, and. She says "you aren't writing this down!" Also I need you to drive me to the airport and pick me up at 2 AM because ticket was 20% less, pick up at 5AM on a freeking Sunday. Needless to say I watered each and everyone once a week to 10 days and soaked the Begeezus out of them. I went with procedure for 2 weeks at first. Only a few croaked. I drive her to the airport and pick her up, pay for parking and each and every year, one year she actually gave me a 10 buck gift card for Hortons that she got for Christmas but doesn't like Hortons and I probably could use it. No gift cards since but did let me know the next day which plants had to go to Intensive Care. My wife has told me for 4 years tell her no. I couldn't. When she told me she was flying out of Toronto not Hamilton because she got an even better price the sound I heard was the crack of the Camels back breaking. I made up 5 excuses why I quit. She grilled me on each and every lie. Then over the fence grilled my wife too when I wasn't around to catch me in a lie, er I mean a fib. Today she asks me if I know anyone she can pay to water her plants and caught off guard I agree to drive her the 6 hour return to TO and back. I have a month to come up with 5 more lies to tell her I can't take her. For the frosting on the cake she told me today she bought her grand son a $110,000 air plane to start his business, I have seen her grand kid here twice in 21 years. No wonder the other plant watering neighbours moved, probably at a loss. Any suggestions? Rant complete. edit: Oops forgot, she also asks "Do what you have to do to make sure my car is running when I get home." Rant over.

Vance you can do mine too. I haven't lifted a shovel for the last 2 winters and don't plan to this year as long as there are neighbours like you.

Seafoam is not a fuel stabilizer to protect from Phase Separation within ethanol fuel, it is a fuel additive to help clean carbs and injectors, tune up in a bottle as it's often referred to. Many marine Guru's call it Snake oil. If you use a fuel like Shell Pro V no stabilizer is needed. My opinion and many others only. For the price of a bottle of 2+4 I add some anyway. I have only used Shell Pro V in all my boat engines and power tools since our good old friend Wormdunker told me to. The difference in price for Hi Test is about 10 to 15 bucks a tank for my 115, a no brainer if you think about it really. It's not like your putting 1200 to 1500 K's on the boat a month.

There isn't a corner store in northern On. that sells cigarettes? If they have a quota I can send a 53' tractor trailer full for you and you can make a quick million. No C.O.D.

A few new Hibiscus flowers bloomed today on the deck. Going to 0 tonight. People are freaking that their pipes are going to freeze, guys and gals are running around like chickens with their heads cut off because they haven't winterized their boats yet. A lady called the shop today in a panic because her husband told her to get someone to winterize the boat as he is away. Why it's up to her is for Dr. Phil. She said it's in the garage, I told her to close the garage door for the weekend. It's calling for +10C next week. You guys can keep your cold right where it is.

Did anyone hear the rant by Michael Felder a Boston sports talk radio idiot about Roy Halliday's death? I couldn't believe what I was hearing, this guy has to be the biggest jack wad since I last listened to the guy that runs the country we border on. Guess what Michael Felger said today, "I'm sorry, I feel bad." But then said he meant much of what he said. Which part Duffus? Calling him a moron and he deserved it, and he was asking for it, what exactly? This guy must really hate his job and wants to get a real job where one has to work for a living. He will be fired in the next day or so, if he's not no one can. It's not letting me paste the link. Google it, you will be both amazed and appalled at the same time.

Thanks guys. I asked the fishing question where multiple answers will be given. What colour is best?

No Glen NO, you sound like the "typical Canadian." Oh well, can't do anything about it, they must have a good reason to do whatever they do. We Canucks could use a bit of American rebel in us. Canadian rebel is an oxymoron. If I remember correctly wondered if fuel prices would get back to pre storm prices. It was $1.07 before the Hurricanes and now a buck 20 is good? I don't think so. We are the most gullible citizens in the free World which ain't so free. Rick,me thinks if those smokes up there had taxes paid it would have a stamp on each pack and they would be the same price of off the Rez. They don't have excise tax stamps on them here. Your Rez cigarettes are made right here in Haldimand. The factory is cleaner than the local Hospital and is larger. It also employs many local folks, First Nations and those from other nations. The employee payroll is as diverse as the U.N.

Isn't that the truth, I am trying believe me. I buy Rez cigarettes now because they are so bad I don't inhale them believe it or not. I was tested for I.Q. a few times and was told I tested a tad higher than a average person. Stupidity is passed down n the ene pool, so stupidity isn't one fault, however a person with a semblance of intelligence that does stupid things is just plain ignorant. I have read in our weekly rag of a few people pulled over on Hwy. 6 for a traffic stop and Rez. smokes were in plain site. They were charged. I have never heard of charges for getting gas. I saw an OPP cruiser filling up on the New Credit Reserve in Hagersville about 20 years back.

Up to about 15 years back we hit Quinte at the Telegraph Narrows in the fall for a week every year in mid to late Oct, never Picton though. The fish were there and we did well, the problem was the wind. Many days we dared not go out with angry waves. We did very well with Rappala Shad Raps on planner boards or just drifting with Lindy Rigs and artificial Leeces. We didn't need riggers as the fish were up higher looking for warmer water I believe. 15 to 25 feet. Like I said the issue was wind, and cold. I don't like to be wet and cold because I'm a wimp when it comes to the cold now. We went golfing in Picton one year when we couldn't get on the water on the 14th of Oct. I remember because it was my bday. It snowed and stayed on the grass, brrrrr. Nothing here political any longer KraTTor, good luck, go slam em' man.

Believe it or not I have never thrown a Senko. I know guys swear by them and they work. My B-I-L that never fished until he retired uses them and he catches some nice fish for a novice, for anyone really. Now that I have seen how to properly use them a pac of Yamamoto Senko's will be in my Christmas stocking, I hope. What are some "go to" colours for Smallies and Walleye? Thanks for the link my Buckeye friend.

I'm trying to understand how you would pump the anti freeze from the transom inlets up to the livewells? I had a question today for the marine Guru's. Why not use windshield washer antifreeze? Good for -40C and on sale for 99 cents a jug? No one will be drinking from those water lines in the spring. If the temps get to -40 I am going to have some other serious problems like frozen water lines as the heat trace for this shack is good to -40 and that's it. Side note: I couldn't finish winterizing today. All ready to fog and I open the new cans of Fogging spray and the push buttons are missing, on both!!!! None of the cans I have around here have a button that will fit. Quality control these days just suck. Now I have to check each and every spray can of whatever now to make sure it has a trigger button???? Looking at all the cans I have I did notice there are several different styles of buttons now.

A aircraft that size would not require a Cockpit Voice Recorder I assume, it did have Flight Data recorders. Other than the press conference's anything I have read is unconfirmed Internet rumours, at this point I would call them rumours. I I read and they have been recovered. I also have read he was a well seasoned pilot since his youth then I read that he was forbidden to take up aviation until his Baseball career was over. Licensed in 2013. Irish, what kind of speeds and G's would that thing do planting a nosedive into the water?

I have a fishing buddy from Westmeath On. that we finally talked into driving to Hamilton in the early 90's. He had never been on a 400 series highway. We were expecting him in the early afternoon, 7.5 hrs from Hamilton. 3 becomes 4 and now it's 7PM and no Emil. Phone rings about 8 and it's him. Ask if he's lost because we were worried. He says he has been home since around 10 in the morning. He got off 41 onto the 401, took the next exit and headed towards 7 east to 41. That was his first and last time on the 401. He eventually made it to Hamilton when his son drove him and that was taking hwy 7 west all the way. Took something like 13 hours.
