My wifes cat does the same thing to rabbits. I mistyped cat as car, her car does it too.

I am happy to read a mature discussion that is political in nature but hasn't become a cluster jam so far. Good going guys, so far.
-
How? The aforementioned opinion has been made after long conversations with a few guys that passed the bar exam. edit: Rick I read back and don't see your opinion about self defence.
-
OK I stand corrected. Based on those numbers a .223 is much more powerful than a .22 round. That is why we have discussion forums, to give our opinions and to educate one another. I was passing on information from those that obviously skewed the facts. Thanks Canuck. When I'm wrong I will admit it. No matter how much it hurts to do so. As far as my opinion on "stand your ground" in Canada I stick by it. An opinion is just that.

In Mexico all Taco means is basically sandwich. Ask for a Taco and that's what you will get, a thin round piece of cornmeal. My biggest surprise when I first went to Mexico is how bland most of the food was and I couldn't find anything that resembled what we call Mexican food. Order a bowl of chili and you get a bowl of beans with chili peppers, chili con carne has pork in it generally. Real Mexican food isn't all that great, to me anyway. Except the fresh fish, that is good I tell ya'.

Not legally. Unless an intruder has already taken a shot at you with his gun you are going to be sharing a cell with the same guy unless you killed him. How long would it take to unlock your safe, unlock the trigger lock, unlock the ammo box, load the weapon and use it, too late your already dead and so is your wife and children. We do not have "Stand your ground" legislation in this country. If you are assaulted with someone's fists, that's what you can defend yourself with, if he uses a pointy stick, you can use a pointy stick, you all get my point. Long gone is the day when that idiot of a man in Hamilton shot dead a teen stealing his GD tomatoes, thank goodness but there must be some middle ground. I'd rather attend my criminal trial for protecting my family than a Funeral Home grieving the loss of my family. A 22 takes a .22 round, the AR-15 type of weapon takes a .223 round. There is not a concern able difference. Of course it can kill a person, it has. Thankfully many were injured and not killed because it was only .223. Shag and M2 may know but if I remember correctly some law enforcement and the military versions of the AR-15 type weapons have a larger caliber round. Everyone incorrectly calls a AR-15 type weapon an AR-15, it was the first of it's design but many others have copied the original, like The Bushmaster has copied it. Lawsuits have been hashed out.

This is going to get political fast. An AR-15 type weapon is nothing more than a mean looking 22. It has no range, isn't accurate and is useless in close quarters. It wouldn't stop big game. When I was a kid it was normal to walk into someone's home that hunted to see the long guns displayed in the open. We never, and I repeat never had ammo readily available. Yes accidents do happen. The teenaged daughter of friend of the family tragically took her fathers loaded shotgun while the family was having dinner, went into her room and took her own life. After that happened we bought a gun safe and locked them all up. That was the early 70's. Something was changing and nobody really knew why. It is still the norm to see weapons readily available in American homes and vehicles. My 91 year old Uncle from southern Illinois across the border of St. Louis does not leave his rural home without his loaded Glock, never. There is always a loaded long gun by each door. I am not in a position to judge or presume my opinion is the right one. Read a St. Louis newspaper or watch the news on TV in the morning and I bet anti gun folks may just change their mind set.

Do the same thing less the bullion cube or powdered soup (they should be illegal) and bury some cheese in the center, wrap well in foil and fire them right in the coals of a camp fire.

They can take my weapons from my cold dead hands. When they had the gun amnesty years ago my dear father gave them my turn of the century Berretta side by side willed to me by my Grand Father and about 8 grand worth (then) of other long guns my brother and I had in our childhood home as well as the WW2 Luger with the SS holster and a Walther PPK my uncle snagged in Europe during the war then willed to me in the 70's. Thanks Pops but I shouldn't have left them there. Ah man, thanks for reminding me. I'm still not over it.

Go to the Police and make an incident report, today, also contact your insurance company. Make an appointment with your family Dr. tomorrow. Her insurance company will try and settle for up to 25K out of court if there was any minor injury, anything above 25K has to be filed in Superior Court. My father got into a fender bender and was slightly injured, I got him $22,000.00 without having a Lawyer represent him. My lawyer was the one that told me about the $25,000.00 insurance companies want to settle for. I hope your injuries weren't serious. If anyone is concerned about an elderly parent etc. driving go see their family Dr. and tell him or her the situation, if they feel that person may harm someone or themselves driving the Dr. will pull their license the same day. We had to do that with Dad. He blamed the Dr. as the Dr. never told him we initiated it.

Don't believe everything they print in the Spec. It wasn't me. Fake news. I said last year they need either a bigger venue or need to use all the space they have. Kids have to have fun but it's a waste of space, it was basically MT last year in the kiddie casting area. Standing 5 deep in front of a table sucks. Actually one of the reasons I didn't go.

Sorry Albert I thought you bought a deep V last year or the year before. It is a beauty but a lake specific ride. I wouldn't think about going out too far here on Erie or Nipp. with a boat like that. Do you still have it Albert? If you do and want exposure I will ask the boys if it's possible as they may let you bring it to the Marine here outside Dunnville to display it on the busy highway RR3. Rainham Rd. and maybe work a deal with them.

This was the 1st year I missed it. The boys went and Featherstone Ted got a great deal on a 5 series Humminbird combo. He thinks he bought some jigs from Bruce. H said the peameal on a bun was great as usual. Last year I took a short cut that took me 35 minutes in the wrong direction. I'm always getting lost up that way. By the time I was walking into the venue in the freezing rain I ran into HTHM walking out with a handful of rods. I don't need anymore weapons of mass distraction anyway. The weather was a heck of a lot better then last year, for sure.

Is that the one with Cuba Gooding Jr.? Man Wayne you are in the wrong century. But to tell you the truth when we have a bad storm and the dish goes out or gets covered in snow I have "Black Hawk Down" cued up in the DVD player. I must have seen it no less than 25 times. My favorite war movie, but then there is "Saving Private Ryan" my second favorite. had an Uncle that was with the US Army and landed on Omaha on D Day. He walked out of that movie in 5 minutes. He said it was exactly like it without the smells. Best mini series for a war flick was the Hanks/Spielburg productions of The Pacific and Band of Brothers. Amazing stuff.

I'm going to B.C. tomorrow for some nice weather. Below Cayuga. Today is the best day this year but there is still snow under some pines. I detailed the engine bay and truck interior today in short sleeves. N.A.W., man you are heading in the wrong direction!!! Make some friends south of The Mason Dixon. I have 2 sis in laws that live in Florida, 1 full time 1 for 6 months then back to N.S., the problem is that they come with husbands.

Are we trying to run before we crawl? C/AV death today

The only reason I will drive to Toronto now is to pick up my cheque for winning the lotto. The 407 is as close to TO I want to be, And there was a time I lived there and commuted to Hamilton for work. I want a self driving Helicopter if I had that commute today. We may not be too far off those either. 1 man drones are being developed. -
We were posting at the same time my fellow Ironmaker. The other way to tell if the lake is turned up beyond the horizon is to look at he height of the water at the dock. If It's higher than normal it is bad out there.

As soon as I get a real boat it seems there are more windy days I can't get out in than ever before. As far as fishing in the wind my only suggestion is cast down wind, that includes relieving yourself, have the wind at your back, your fishing partner will thank you too. Our best Walleye day was last August. It started as a nice Walleye chop that turned into 3 footers. I was ready to pack it up and leave when the fish started hitting. It took everything I had to troll straight and safe. We limited out in about 70 minutes, lost more than a few as we were getting double headers but I couldn't take my hands off the wheel.

X2. I never found a suction cup that would stay on anything. I was going to mount it on a piece of wood then clamp it on the transom but never did.

I agree also Tom. I like driving a car not the other way around. We took a newer Caddy from Haldimand for a ride a few weeks back when we were shopping. By the time we got to the river I was already bored. The new to my wife's Kia is fun to drive. I drive it using the 6 speed auto/manual shifter. I'd rather have a clutch. Try finding a Gen Xer or Millennial that can use a clutch. A clutch is an anti theft device for the aforementioned drivers. -

As always a logical reply from Akrisoner. I also agree. Computers can make decisions without adrenaline, emotions and the like effecting or is it affecting) it's decision in a millisecond, we can't. Much of my job responsibility was replaced by a Supervisory Computer system designed in Finland taking in thousands of flows, temps, pressures in a second plus a Mass Spectrometer doing gas analysis by the second making us redundant apparently. However when the system went down the new guys and gals were lost. Thus all the calls at God awful times of the night and day. Including vacations. If the bleeder flame was blue I went back to what I was doing if it was orange I went into work. -

So much for AV bringing traffic fatalities down to zero. -
Still have a foot or more of snow in the shadows of the big pines here. We are about as south as one can get in Canada. No palm trees sprouting up yet. A trucker who has a place in Turkey Point brings back 2 huge Palm trees every year and plants them in his front yard. 3 winters ago they lived through the winter, not this year, but this winter really hasn't been as bad as predicted. Not much of the hard driving winds off the lake as it was frozen to the horizon. I have no idea how he gets them across the ditch with all the live bugs in them, they won't let you bring an Apple across. "Anything to declare sir?" ............"Yea, 2 53' Palm Trees.

Are we trying to run before we crawl? C/AV death today
Old Ironmaker replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
A question I have is will an AV be able to differentiate between a Dog running out on the road or a kid? We aren't supposed to stop or swerve for a Dog or any other future roadkill, but we do it naturally without thinking, I know I do without thinking about it. It may save wildlife along with Humans. More questions than answers this early in testing but 2022 is only 4 years away. I was watching Motoring 2018 a few weeks ago, someone with Transportation Canada or one of our watchdog organizations said we here in Canada are 20 years away from having AV's be the norm here in Canada. -
How right you are Dave. Guys park 50 grand or more worth of trucks and cars in the driveway or street and keep 100 buck lawnmowers and tools they used once and will never use again in the garage. I actually used my garage when I had one, only because I couldn't fit all the cars in the driveway. And I've seen worse garages. We were cleaning out a buddy's garage for his daughters after he passed and found 1 cat skeleton and 1 dead racoon. Ewwww. Oh and plus a bunch of our tools he didn't remember borrowing buried in the mess. . A situation similar to hoarders.
