The couple laughing in the car sounds real. It takes some good acting to make a laff sound real. Maybe they are reading some Presidents tweets.

OK, now I get it. I need help usually, even with why the chicken crossed the street. But yes that is ironic and funny now that you explained it.

Of course Dave I don't get your pic. I am 50/50 about staging the elec. car that runs on gas, or vise vesa.

I can tell you from experience that there is truth in the dry cold vs. wet cold. I spent a week in Oulo Finland which is 40K south of the Artic Circle, the second week of December. -40 to -50 at night. There are many canals close to our hotel. Every night it sounded like there was war going on. They would blast the canals ice with explosive to protect the concrete walls. -40 there is a terrible cold but it isn't as bad as some -20's here.

Yep just like when I wanted to switch to Shaw and told Bell I was. Once the Shaw promo was over Shaw was 10 bucks more than Bell. -
Don't you remember the winter of 1993 and 1994 Dave. The Niagara peninsula had continual days of -20C. I know because I checked Cable 14 every AM and PM before I went into the plant for the Winter Olympics. I had met the 1st mate of the lake freighter Tudeusac when would dock it in Hamilton. The ship got caught with her pants down in Pt. Colbourne. The aerator couldn't keep up with the freeze up and split her hull.

That is a great deal you are getting. I doubt Shaw can match that. My Bell TV satellite is 125 a month alone no phone or internet. How can I get that deal? Man that's good. -

A classic thread detour, sorry. The 1st time I heard it was on CHCH TV. I didn't think it was fake news. I clean the grill with a lava stone now. Not too too clean as someone pointed out here once that crud is the tasty stuff. The thread about "how do you clean your grill?" turned into Bell TV rant!! -

Don't tie off to the back bumper of any vehicle when you decide to go up on the roof. The old story goes that a guy did just that and his wife decided to take the car to go shopping. She dragged him a few hundred feet down the road, he didn't make it. I was lambasted on another fishing forum because I didn't think it was an urban legend. The same goes for the guy that choked to death on a piece of wire from a piece of a BBQ brush used to clean the grill. I'm a Libra says my wife, whatever that means. -
They school here on the north shore of Erie in droves around the middle of May. I have caught a few in the canals in south west Florida using yarn but never hooked one there or here. The yarn makes a mess and if catch/release don't use yarn. I watched one take my Black and Silver Rappala and held it in it's mouth side ways for a long time. Every time I tried to set the hook it just let go but would take it again. I guess what I'm saying it just leave your presentation right where it is, the Gar will come back and hit it again. We have seen them while snorkelling close to shore. None were larger than 24" to 30". Out of water they have a monotone silver color, under water they are the colors of the rainbow, absolutely stunning. Also I have seen them swim close to Smallie beds and never looked at the Bass fry. I would love to catch one here. If anyone knows if Georgian Bay has big Gar it would be Mr. Moosebunk.

A newer bass boat brand, aluminum.
Old Ironmaker replied to OhioFisherman's topic in General Discussion
The former execs and managers at Ranger most likely had signed a non competition agreement as well as a non disclosure and had to wait an agreed upon period of time before they could return to the boat business. -

I'm the last guy that needs a true blue Bass boat. But when I wanted one it was going to be a Ranger hands down only a Ranger. In my opinion after watching a short video it looks like all the players in this market is in for some competition. From what I saw, nice boat. -

Thanks Geoff. I do switch to SD if the Hi Def starts to pixilate, a fancy tech word for going wonky. This past fall the HD was going in and out every few minutes. They waved the 75 banana service call and a sub contractor came out. Without checking a thing he said he knew what the problem was,100%. Large trees were causing the signal to go in and out as they swayed in the wind. Done, fini, finito, and off he went. Tree guy wanted 500 bucks to trim limbs 70 feet off the ground, oh my! The techie said it was going to be around $200.00 to move the dish. My adopted grandson (a pals kid) came a few days latter and climbed the ladder and tightened the HD connection on the dish. Bell called to ask how the service was. I said fine, I would never want to have a young fella with a young family lose his job. I was young once and knew everything that there is to know, I still am except the young part. Chong, why can't you get Shaw? I thought we were paying too much foe Bell until I saw what you are paying. We are paying Bell $120.00 for HD TV, Koodo $90.00 for 2 Smart phones, 1 with limited use, $58.00 to Xplornet for Internet. Around 270 all in. -

We have had Xplornet (no E before the X) satellite for about 6 years. The small square dish in on the railing on the deck facing the lake. We live right on the shore of Erie and that dish gets hammered with wind and snow, never had a problem. As I write this the SW winds are gusting to 80KPH. My wife couldn't make it into work this afternoon because of the whiteouts and has been on the laptop all day, not a problem. We don't stream much and was paying 75 bucks a month but never came close to maxing out, got them to drop it to $50 something a month. We have had Bell TV here for 19 years. I was going to switch to Shaw when they had a great promo on. After reading what the bill would be after the promo was over the cost was going to be about 10 bucks a month less. Buddy down the lake switched to Shaw and regrets it due to interruptions but is staying. Somehow they share the bill with 5 others. A quick tech question. I was told cable doesn't come in at 1080P Hi Def, it's less, true or false? -

I cancelled WFN years ago. They took $1.99 off the bill. The worse 2 bucks I ever spent. -

Lucky man. I guess when you go into Bear country you might see a Bear, hunters need to watch what they wish for. -
a lot more hassle than going thru Timmies drive thru!!! Yes Pics I'm sure I wouldn't recognize the place. But you guys are making a profit now, not when the plant was an employment factory with us oldtimers like Dave and I running the joint. Yes Timmies is easier, but that's 700 or so more bucks a year for tackle that I save. There were days more than 2 a day. I don't get out much these days but when I do I don't pass many Timmy's. We actually have 1 in Haldimand County now, 1. You never know, might even get a stop light some day!!

Is this line strong enough for fishing a Jig
Old Ironmaker replied to Justin C's topic in General Discussion
Most of 180 yards of line never see the light of day when fishing the way you describe. -
Another victim. Based on this thread when my brother bought his brand new Ram last month he referred the seller to this thread based on what I have learned from Rizzo's dilemma and my recommendation. The guy at the dealership didn't have much to say other than his insurance was the best. Yea right.

Crappie, Bacon and Avocado on Rye.....YUM!
Old Ironmaker replied to limeyangler's topic in General Discussion
If I depended on someone else feeding me I would waste away to nothing. I like avocado on certain things, fried fish maybe not. Now I'm jealous, going out for dinner tonight in Port Dover, a Lake Erie fishing village. I bet my 5 finger size pieces of frozen Perch is going to set me back 25 bananas with a Ceaser. If I cleaned fish in the kitchen I would be sleeping in the truck. You are 110% right, potatoes should sit in water for a time to get most of the starch out so to crisp up but have never seen anyone wash them in a salt bath. I hardly salt the pasta water anymore and maybe once a month will I fry something, maybe, tonight is a treat. I bake everything I would normally fry from Pork Shnitzels to fish in Panko crumbs. We are getting close to our Best Before date here. By the way Simon it's a sangwitch not sammich. -

Old Ironmaker replied to Justin C's topic in General Discussion
Depends on what you are fishing for like misfish said. I would never use 100% flouro. Why would you? Unless you are longline trolling only the length you have in the water or casting is leaving the spool anyway. You can tie 100' of flouro to whatever you use as backing, like braid or even mono, you only need a few feet of flouro, not a spool full. I actually don't like flouro as a main line. One kink, and they kink, and the line is visible and that's why one uses flouro, invisibility. . -
I'm so busy I don't even have time to spend more than 3 hours on OFC at a time. I don't know what I would do without it. Oh, I know, do something on my list of to do's or go to iboats.com or The Bleacher Report site. I'm doing a load of laundry as I type, reading threads here, watching the TSN rerun of the outdoor NHL game plus listening to WGR radio 1 Bills Drive/Buffalo, talk about multi tasking, man I'm good. Plus pushing the button on a washing machine can be tough work I tell ya'. Gotta go, Judge Judy's on.

The last time we were there I walked by a guy and he started flipping out, too close 25 ft away. The water was coming up through his hole when I walked by. 2" of ice, maybe. I headed back to the truck and went to the motel room. The temps dropped that afternoon and night. It was 4" or better the next morning. So in a few weeks I hope there is plenty of ice for you guys. It doesn't take weeks to set.
