To get skung off of the hull I use Lysol toilet bowl cleaner, the gel type, not foam. I buy it at the Dollar Store for a few bucks. Wet the hull spray on the Lysol and give it a scrub. I tried every concoction to get the Lake Erie skung off and strait Lysol works best. Armour All for all vinyl. Spray 9 for any mildew build up before Armour All. My interior seats on my 94' StarCraft is white and it's still white.

Sorry to hear about Dad's knee. A great way to spoil any road trip. I'm not 65 yet and find I really have to be careful walking on uneven ground, even level ground the turf monsters will trip me. Haven't fished Nipp in the summer for years and but I hear the tough Walleye fishing your parents found is normal up there now. Very few keepers Ice Fishing as well. Off topic but getting health insurance is important for US visitors. Many of my relatives are from the US and I urge them to get Blue Cross for example. One didn't a few years ago and 5 stiches and a CT scan cost him 5 grand.

If the wind predictions are less than 1 meter get out at dawn and plan to be back by 11AM at least. Or if you see the windturbines shift directions. A change in wind direction usually means she's going to kick up.. Going out in a SW wind is doable, coming back in a NW wind can be brutal and plan on getting wet. Get into the habit of wearing your PDF's 100% of the time. Invest in inflatables for the kids and yourself. I don't even realize it is on they are so comfortable, in fact have realized I still had mine on driving the truck home.

Sorry Gerald but the place you describe doesn't exist on Erie. We bought on the lakeshore 23 years ago and have lived here full time for 20. Long Point bay can turn in a moments notice. I wouldn't venture far in your Bass boat. We don't see many in the open lake. Long Point Bay yes for largemouth. I would suggest you boat and fish around the bay at Nanticoke. I suggested to a member looking for Smallmouth Bass just last week to work the shoreline of Peacock Point which is a stones throw from Hoover's Marina in Nanticoke . He slayed them. From Nanticoke you can venture out to 5 mile reef. You might find some local Walleye there but no Erie monsters, they are still in the eastern basin. Directly across from Selkirk Provincial Park not far from the east shore of Peacock is a spot called Westlawn. Not far from shore you might find Jumbo Perch in 8 to 12' of water. The folks at Hovver's Marina will direct you and sell you Emerald Shinners. The perch will no bite on anything else. Look at all your weather and wind sites and heed the. Windfinder.com and Sailflow.com are my faves. Be careful, especially for a novice boater with children aboard. In fact my best advice is for you is to NOT boat Erie until you are much more experienced and know your boat capabilities inside and out. Many an experienced boater has drowned in that water. 2 of which I knew personally a few years back, in Long Point Bay in fact. IF I were you I would boat and fish The Grand River south of the Dunnville dam. There are fish and much, much safer conditions. Launch at Fishmasters in Dunnville.

I was offered a seat in a buddies 22 foot StarCraft all set up for longlining to go out of Port Maitland at the break of dawn for a few hours. His health is worse than mine. I don't need an alarm clock if it's for a Golfing or Fishing outing. Woke at 04:00 and heard the rain pelting the roof. Opened the patio door facing the lake and got a face full of wind and heard the waves crashing against the break wall. Called Ted and he said no way Jose, maybe tomorrow. Went back to bed.

Check your blood sugar level. My brother told me the other day he felt the same. He checked and it was 3.0, not good for anyone not on Diabetes meds, not good for anyone actually. When I was diagnosed with Type 2 in 97' I was over 50 lbs. heavier. You have to care of yourself in order to enjoy your magnificent 3ork. When was the last time you have seen an 80 year old carrying an extra 60lbs? Not often I bet.

I'm known to be a pessimist at times. Coming up to my 40th wedding anniversary. I'm told it doesn't count with 3 wives. Actually only 1 was legal. I actually talked to her just tonight for over an hour. I said we didn't talk that much in a week and we lived in the same house. I hadn't even seen her for over 30 years then she came to Mom's funeral service last August and Dad's just last month. She is 64 and looks 40,,,,,,,,,, maybe. I gave her enough bucks for a lifetime supply of Botox.

It's strange huey. Once you get west of Long Point they don't know what a worm harness is, 90% of the crazy named spoons, like Monkey Puke and Bare Ass. Never got a Pic on a spoon here. I've haven't bought a harness since my former wife's Uncle showed me how to make them. My future ex wife made me a harness that was ridiculous looking. It caught fish until I lost it somewhere. Buddy most likely stole it.

My Father never took us anywhere that had anything to do with the outdoors. But latter in life I took him a few times fishing and even camping once, he didn't enjoy the outdoors at all. I never knew why. I visited Family in Italy the first time when I was 30. My Aunt, his older sister, told me when he was an early teen he and friends had to flee into the woods and mountains to avoid capture from the Nazi's when the Allies were pushing them north east through Italy. The Nazi's were conscripting anyone under threat of death that was strong enough to hold a weapon into their ranks actually training as they marched north. They slept anywhere they could find some shelter in the dead of winter, a fire could give their position away. Some farmers gave them food, water and shelter and some alerted the Nazi's as to their whereabouts, so they came to trust no one. Many of those collaborators went missing after the war was over and some met their fate in public piazza's for all to witness. He never told me about what my Aunt told me and I never brought it up. When I was 13 all I worried about was getting a new bike. If I had to go through what his friends and he did I wouldn't like the outdoors either.

Being from Hamilton everyone would talk about "tough guys." This guy paddy stacked 5 guys outside a bar, that guy can bench 500 pounds, that guy did 10 years standing on his head," on and on. A tough guy is someone like Paul. Dealt a bad hand in life and doesn't miss a beat. Never complains and inspires others. I know many real deal "tough guys and gals." And I know guys that had to go home early from work because they had the sniffles.

Get better, that's an order from headquarters. I enjoy our PM bull sections.

Go get em huey. I don't know what you are using but it is no secret the go to for the last few years is Ripplin' Redfins, colour depends on the day and the old tried and true worm harness. I start with the blue on chrome Redfin when sunny and lime green on white overcast days, to start. Another are Reef Runners. My back is sore from fishing in buddies little tinny for Smallies this morning. And my 19' StarCraft sits in the driveway! No way I can take the ride from Nanticoke to my Bass spots with this body, yet. The soul is willing but the body protests.

Our closest Canadian buoy is Port Colbourne. I have been monitoring it for years now. I know when we have a superstorm when the info from that buoy stops transmitting.

I will never get tired of catching Smallmouth that size Akri. I find they fight harder than a 5 plus pounder. One Smallie fight = 10 Walleye being tugged ib like a rubber boot. But they sure taste good, and not like chicken like Walleye. They want 18 bucks now at the Lake Erie tourist traps for 3 Pickerel Tacos and the fish in each is the size of your thumb. Almost 10 bucks for a footlong death dog. I kept 6 Greenies, Smallies about 12 to 15 inches, emerald green fish, maybe year old class. Flesh is rock solid. Fish Tacos tonight.

Bass are not on the beds here at least. We got a few hog females about 50' off the shoreline. Hit very aggressively. One took a spinnerbait into the upper jaw and into the skull. She was north of 5#'s. Cut off the hook, she swam away strong, hope she made it. I put a small Black Fury on an ultralight and the small Greenies were hitting it steady. I couldn't care less about Trout and Salmon either, smell like fish but don't taste like chicken.

Akri used "driveline" so I did too. Better than other names, it's self explanatory, I like it. I will know if the Smallies are still on the beds in exactly 17 minutes. Rod, reel and top water are all set up. Akri, I too have been caught in water I had no business being in. Nipissing in Purgatory Bay lost at night, (should have been more frightening, but at 23 invincible) and here on Erie (a strong 2nd place).

Welcome back huey. I haven't fished that area this year but this is the time to catch some big Pics in that area. They are the migrating fish that start in the west end, follow the US shore line east and are now heading west back to their spawning grounds and they are in the Pts Colbourne and Maitland areas about now. The smaller Pics would be local fish from the lowerGrand. Check out the Niagara Fishing Forum/Perch and Walleye section. Nowhere as busy as here but a good bunch of guys and gals giving fishing reports. There are many good reports here in the archives. The 5 fingers is a great spot out of Maitland. West of Gull rock just east of Maitland. They are deeper throughs. Fish Farmer, a great member here, has made numerous reports about his catches in that area. Erie is my home base for fishing. We go out at the break of dawn and head back in at 11AM. That's when the winds pick up. Then back out at 6PM and in by 8:30. My favorite wind predictor sites are Sailflow.com. and Windfinder.com. Heed the warnings. Be smart, be safe Mate.

In a year or so she will have lost the desire to be seen in public with you! Her attitude will change though, about the time you are paying for her wedding.

When I venture out in water I'm not familiar with here on Erie I use my drive lines to come back to port. If I didn't come across a shoal going out I doubt I will hit anything coming back. Sandy rivers and Long Point inner bay however can fool you. I got hung up on a sandbar in the inner bay that definitely was not there when we headed out. Crazy winds on shallow water can change the bottom in a few hours or less. We must be nuts Akri fishing G. Bay and Lake Erie. I have friends that have fished up north on back lakes their entire lives that won't go out in my boat here.

What I am trying to say is the electronics today shortens the "experience" factor greatly. Finding the fish is one thing, getting them on the line is another. I saw a few guys head out in their $100,000.00 brand spankin 20 plus footer Lund. What I did notice was a few rods had wire leaders on them. Good luck chaps. I too am not a fan of those water rockets they have today. But I would think these huge breakers we get here when a south west wind howls must kick up the eggs and fry on a Bass bed too. These waves we get, not often in spring as fall, has to effect the beds, but we still get them. I had water splashing up on the deck 25' above the beach, or I should say where the beach used to be. I have seen Zebra mussels in the driveway a good 70' from the lake in the spring before. Those beds if there were any had to be destroyed. I think we have had something like 5/ 100 year storms in the last 10 years. Global weather change, specifically high water levels must be a bigger factor effecting Bass spawn than marauding fish feeding on Bass eggs and Fry. A question I need to get answers to. Any thoughts guys?
