Time for another " Craziest thing that happened to me fishing."
-
Can't beat insiders. And call 911, another JD hi jack under way!!!!!! Actually guys it's was standard operating practice to flare NG gas lines and cooling members with Coke Oven Gas burning at the end of a 6 foot pipe on the furnaces. It is the safest way of doing it. Of course we had a Superintendent that told us to soap test, yea I had to show him, the plastic bottle melted 4' away from the Blowpipe, OK boss. What time is dinner served Brian? I just made a pot of Ragu today. I'll bring some Vino too.

Ever used or heard of "Green Worms"
Old Ironmaker replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
Based on this thread a scientific data is being gathered on the same lake with similar conditions where the Green worms ruled previously. The data shows no marked advantage from either species of worm over the other up until the latest findings at 15:30. -
You just want a new Q, can't fool us nor the lady looking over your shoulder. Start a new thread " Do I need a new bigger better BBQ?" We will all answer YES and then show the boss the 100% consensus. Rick, be careful what you suggest on the internet. There are some people in this world with weak DNA that will try doing a gas leak test with a flame. LOL can mean "lean on left". Look other than Home Hardware, I find they are the most expensive around. Yea Dave, you aren't helping some Doomass either.

A buddy was driving back from a trip the other day and when he parked the boat he notices his 6' Planner Board Mast had broken off sometime in the last 2 hrs from the locking sleeve and ended up in the bottom of the boat. If it didn't land in the boat a 6 foot steel pipe coming at you at 100KPH will leave a mark. He wasn't lucky, the cars behind him were.

Not soon enough. -
It will be announced Monday afternoon July 31st 2017 that management is going in a different direction and that Head Coach Kent Austin has stepped down and Defensive Co-ordinator Jeff Rhinebolt will assume the position of interim Head Coach until the Hamilton Tiger Cats can find someone that can win a game.

He is a Canadian and it his right to criticize whomever he wants to. It's called an opinion, you also have the right to disagree. Not a good way to start a good neighbourly relationship though. Talking to prospective neighbours is important when buying residential property. Hopefully you meet the Gladys Kravits of the hood and he or she gives you the lowdown on the entire neighbourhood. -
Enjoy man. They as well as your family will wonder why the move wasn't made before. It is a sure way to relieve the stress of the job and life. I don't know the exact numbers but in Finland most everyone has a shared family cottage. The government there encourages a second place. When I was there the guys told me the interest rates were lower than a main residence. I have had friends of friends over and before you know it the guy or gal or both we met 20 minutes ago is sound asleep on the couch or on the deck, welcome to the lake.

What is Wrong with People.....Updated Good Guys Win

Hopefully our Prov Gov moves as fast on this that they do on other important matters. So in 10 years or so the duffus gets his info with all the pertinent facts redacted. That would be justice, the guy is a 2pile. -
Brother has a place on Chesley Lake. The air is better then a sleeping pill. Works better than a script. Enjoy the cottage. Not to be too too cynical, you can't get what you put into it during the settlement. Just sayin' because I've been there and still have the T shirt.

This ^. I have caught and released hundreds of Smallies here on our beach in the last 21 years. Unfortunately many of the larger fish can be found on the beach that day or next day. If we do fish from shore now, even in the boat I have upped the tackle for the last many years to bring them in and released ASAP. -
Something I was thinking, what will they let you build, you have to ask. On my Brothers lake the Ministry of whatever are constantly on the look out for criminal offenders. He isn't allowed to cut the lawn X number of feet from the shoreline. And he needed a building permit to replace the dock that they made him replace because it was pressure treated that contained a ridiculously low level of arsenic. They went around the lake and asked cottage and home owners if their docks contained arsenic, say what? What ever you build it with if you use any wood keep your receipt, MSDS sheet and don't forget to WHIMIS label it.

Like I as well as others on a fixed pension I use my phone to talk to people. Strange eh? I do have a text pen with a rubber dooey and actually text if I remember my reading goggles, otherwise I don't get a hold of some people. Some don't open voicemail anymore. I have a tablet and a laptop here. I will not pay for Data Usage because I don't need to be that connected. I know of I still had the business it would be a mandatory tool. But for me and many others the extra 75 or more I was quoted or what ever it is is just simply redundant. I know people that won't walk to the next room to use a PC and would rather strain to see what is on a 3" by 5" screen. I'm not talking about guys in business, these are roofers and stay at home Mom's and Grandmothers that pay a good chunk of change for their Apps. I don't get it. Heck my Weather app is still the Weather Rock. If there would still be clocks on our DVD players mine would be flashing 12,,,12,,,12,,,12 all day. I have turned into my parents. I am done for I truly believe. And to think I taught an introductory PC and Windows course in 95'. What is the average cost per month Data Usage for you guys?

The soft shell crabs here on Erie are 1/2 blue. They will slay them if blue I think. Now how to get the worms 1/2 blue? Really thanks for all the feedback. I know to tell them to shop around for green worms. I know it would kill me to pay that for a dozen worms. But I'll pay more for Live Target that never caught a fish except me. -
Very good video Brian, when I saw it was only 3 minutes I opened it and watched it, all. That swim bait gives me an idea too. Guy here on Erie are jigging depths for suspended Piks lately. Going back to the old Erie Dearies and bladed jigs as the long lining hasn't been working as well, plus in my opinion it beats going for a putt putt boat ride for hours on end. That swim bait sure looks like a smelt to me. Hmmmm? Good suggestion dear Sir thank you. I need to dig around my bag of rubber. I have to ask, how many miles to the gallon do you get on that barge? Would it fuel be measured in gallons of Ale perhaps? Keep up the good Toonin'. I wish they were around when my legs were like Oak trees. Everyone thought I was nuts when I took out the Kayak and a rod in 79'.

The pic works well Ron. When I read your title I read deck not dock. I thought I could help but not for dock. My brother is the dock expert. Are you intending on taking it out every fall? Budget is key to any project. That will tell you what you are going to build. Prices of materials are insane. Yesterday I went to 3 lumber yards out here to find a piece of Oak. A 3/4" X 3" piece of Oak was $3.10 a linear foot plus HST, I told my wife get out your card my dear lady if this is what you want. Over 70 bucks to replace 5 slats on a park type bench. I think I paid 75 bucks for it 25 years ago. Ron look at Drifters thread about his home in the Yukon. A recent post showed what he is doing for his dock. Those cages will last until we and he are long gone. Like I said it's all about budget. The last few docks my Bother built for their and a neighbours were all aluminum. He can remove the 2 main sections by himself and he built the bases with stone boxes or otherwise known as Gambrels. It's not going anywhere in our lifetimes. I saw a episode of that Deck and Dock guy on Canadian HGTV do a few docks. Maybe go to HGTV or You Tube for the shows. I'm not positive about the name of the show but the guy is Canadian for sure. I have to add kid bro is 61 now and says he isn't repairing the old heavy dock every year and replacing it every 15 like he has, plus when it's time to take it out every Oct. all the summer guests aren't around. Look to the future.

You are bang on Canuck. I have had a proper worm box for over 30 years. Buy some of that bedding from CTC at the beginning of the year wet it a bit and put a couple of dozen worms in it. Keep it in a very dark area that has some ventilation and that 2 dozen worms can last all summer. I will add bedding as it breaks down over the season. Worms have baby worms too. You want to clean the box well in the fall, really well with just water, no chemical cleaners. -

Whether we agree with it or not he is well within his right to do it if he so chooses. I bet he is in his late 70's or in his early 80's at least. If we strongly believe that some gamefish such as the revered Muskellunge should never be kept such as the Sturgeon is now we have the democratic right to lobby to have the legislations changed through our Parliamentary assembly to reflect our beliefs. I really don't think that amendment to our regs. would come with a large outcry from the public. I have an old grainy black and white photo of my wife's Grandmother standing in front of a stringer, not 1 fish a rope of 4 large Sturgeon caught here in Ontario. Most likely taken sometime in the 40's. Prior to the end of WW2 and really through to the 80's throwing back a fish was a waste. You caught it you ate it or gave it to someone that needed it. -

I think a key to angling success is confidence in whatever presentation, population and location you then have the utmost confidence that success will come. When you have confidence in what you are doing with whatever you are using all the angling senses are heightened and thus you may catch more fish. Green , blue, pink or whatever colour worms you have dangling on your hook. Confidence is key to success in all aspects of life really. That I know to be true. -
I'm with you Dave, sans the hearing aids, And I just started to use Photo Bucket successfully except here of course. I have read a few alternate "free" sites bounced around here some are going with. The question for this old sore crippled up "I used ta do that" which one do I go with? Looking for simplicity here. I no longer have that intern and I.T. guy to do stuff for me. So which do I choose? Thanks all. Johnny D.

I was very seriously fishing 20 years ago and thought we heard all the fads and newest fish smashing technologies. Anyone remember the "Color-C-Lector". There was a fad people paid much more than 12 bucks for. I think around $400.00 if not mistaken. But I never heard of the Green Worm fad for some reason. If I did I have forgotten. Export, Crown, Mr. Walker, both colours, Vino, both colours, Dr. Smirnoff, all god awful flavours, Si02, S, Si, Mg0 and C0 to name a few, certainly not a good diet for cerebral elasticity. Thus I fergit some stuff now. -
AKRISONER's Semi Annual Year in Review
Old Ironmaker replied to AKRISONER's topic in General Discussion
That there is one beauty of a report. You are doing great and I hope you have many more years to hit any kind of water you will find. Whether hard, soft, clear, murky just find the water and there be fish under it. Way to go Akree. I have travelled to Birmingham a few times, love the food and love the folk. Don't love the 100F humid days though, especially in the Steel Plants. It isn't easy to get to know people in a week or even less, especially doing business. Start talking about catching fish and the looks on peoples faces and energy levels change drastically. Like someone turned on that invisible switch of sports fishing. It can bring strangers of all races, creeds, and cultures together like life long friends. Keep it up. I demand you now hit the Keys, if you have never been go.- 23 replies
