Check your weather closely Dave. I wouldn't go too far from the south shore in a 16 footer, far too small to cross that lake. It's been years since going to the south end. Never caught one myself but South Bay held them years back. When we were going there was a 2 years waiting list to get a nice place on Nippising. Good luck and enjoy.

Saw it served Asian style a few times. Carp is cooked in a long Wok while alive and eaten before it dies.

Happens with regularity on the Grand River here in Ont. It is a bit disconcerting when you see toilet paper floating down the river downstream of Brantford after a big storm. I haven't eaten a fish from the Grand in, well forever actually. I know people that eat as many from there that they can catch from Mudcats to Walleye and Bass. When invited for a fish fry I respectfully pass.

Biggest largemouth I've gotten in 3 years, 8lb+ easy

So like I thought my Buckeye pal, 23" is a big Momma Largie. Never fish for them, always a bonus fish here. -

I think coach Austin is 1 generation too far removed to relate to his players today. That's one reason he has failed. He is the boss of a friend and have had him her for a meal and he is a good guy, but he is strict even to my standards. I see most head coaches in the CFL aren't too far removed from the game these days. Call me racist but I believe if a players number can't be read because his hair or dreadlocks covers it should be illegal, I don't care what race you are. Most players in the CFL today are all about the air time, just watch the after play antics. You made a tackle kid, pretend you have done it before, you didn't just score the winning TD in the Grey Cup. Man am I turning into my father? He threatened us to cut our Beatles hair cuts when we were sleeping at night. We were the "Pepsia Cole generashina". And he cut my brothers hair one night after afternoon shift!!!! I swear. -
There is another thread here about the same incident. I thought it was on the Queenston side. So my in laws can't be blamed. Yep, control the pollution through dilution was something that was actually used by our engineers in the 70's and 80's at Stelco in Hamilton believe it or not Chris, I hope you all believe it. There was no such thing as an Environmental Dept. then. When I said that there was such a thing as Smog over the plant in the early 70's as a young engineering student I was laughed out of the room of the Inter Sanctum and never invited back by the WW2 vets that were in control of everything and anything. That previous year at school was the study of environmental effects of manufacturing in Hamilton that I worked on. I knew nothing about the cost of doing business. I was warned but didn't listen. They put me in Accounting for 3 long years, and on shifts until I saw the light.

I caught the "longest" Largemouth I ever saw. Not the heaviest, the longest. I didn't have a tape. I was fishing for Crappie believe it or not. It went from my finger tip to 1/2 way up my bicep. That is 23". Get a tape and actually see what 23" is. That isn't short. That Bass wasn't maybe 3" thick. It was from a small quarry pond in October. It had to be starving. A 23" Largie is huge. A Largemouth that long is close to 10 lbs. in Cuba or Mexico. I have an 8.7 pounder from inland Cuba under my belt 26 years ago and it was stupid fat, grotesque actually. Not anymore apparently from all the catch and mount fish taken I'm told from an old guide there I keep in touch with. That is one big Bass the OP has there. Most likely from Mexico or Cuba, maybe Okeechobee or a yet to be named southern lake and most likely a reservoir. -
Combustion has very little to do with carbon source temperature. Ignition point between -40C and +40C isn't much when we are talking 900C carbon ignition temp for coal for example, or far less than C0 in gases. Depends what we are trying to burn. Newspaper in an oven will light at baking temps, Propane and NG gas far less. Don't try and determine this at home. When we are needing to heat tanks on the job we are actually trying to melt frozen water in regulators not heat the gasses. Don't try this at home you nuts.

Call 911, another hi-jack. Sorry, really I am. Just another Segway into a different discussion.

The landowner is responsible. Now here I go breaking my own rules. Zero Medical or Legal advice to be given on the Internet because a) I'm not a Doctor and I'm not a Lawyer. Free advice is worth just that, nothing. Investment advise not withstanding. Why would the letter B show up as a happy face thing? If the MOE or whomever or whatever Ministry Of who cares shows up just tell the truth, ain't my dock Sir, I don't own the place. You aren't lying. Better yet don't sign a thing, I wouldn't unless I owned it, why would you, the owner doesn't seem to have an issue. Can you take it with you when you leave? 1 reason I bought rather than got a trailer site when we were looking for a vacation place. Too many rules and zero appreciation in $$$ Stayed at a pals trailer when we were looking. 9:30 PM and the owner was driving around on his ATV telling everyone " Fires out, music off!". Say what??? It wasn't even dark. And that was 22 years ago and they were paying $2500.00 a season, May to Oct. Our place has gone from 89 grand and today I can get $450.000. He was told 10 years ago he needed to get his then new to him trailer off the property because it was going to be 20 years old. Got nothing for his "old" trailer and paid 25 grand for his new trailer. I'm sorry but I don't get the trailer site thing. As close to Socialism as you can get in Canada in my uneducated opinion. If he had done what I did, and encouraged him to do so, he could sell it and retired. He now has around $35,000.00 (oops thousands not millions) or more in site fees plus tank dump and water 22 years later with zero to show for his investment. He pays double for water and cistern because the owner has him by the orbs. I bet he has 100 grand into his rental. Now he has a letter telling him they have sold and he has until Oct. to get off the property or consider it abandoned. No way he can move that thing with 3 additions and decks. We paid far less than that in our initial investment that has quadrupled and no one tells me when I can or can not sit by our fire pit and play our music. And I can't hear my neighbours conversations when they are making a 2pile. Get out of there.

I agree if it is a rental site make it for as inexpensive, I won't say cheap because nothing is cheap, as you can get away with. If it isn't your property I don't even think you can pull a permit. In fact I'm 99% sure you can't unless you are contracting for the property owner.

Is it just me but my impression is that OFC'ers are generally only Baseball and Hookey fans, and some fishing. -
I don't know if it is N/S/E or West but if the falls in on your right this side of the bridge "was" open to the public. When I was by there a few years ago I was surprised to see how commercialized the area became since we used to go there. A room was 25 bucks a night back then to give you an idea how long ago it was we used to go, a camp site was $10.00! We slept in the Hippy van to save $$. A case of Beer was $12.00.

Seeking Life & Lake Trout at the Arctic Circle.

Once again, living vicariously through Mr. and Mrs. Bunk's adventures. I've seen smaller German Shepherds than those Lakers. Thank you, again. I think you may have lost a few with the Jonathan Wick, Game of Thrones comment. I quit counting his victims at 50 just 10 minutes into John Wick 2. -
Why did I open this? My sis and bro-in-law live just out of view of the video. They aren't too happy about this. I wonder how the smell is? I suggest not swimming in Lake O too soon. Reducing pollution through dilution.

You have a myriad of options available. Booking this late however will be the challenge. Is this a day trip or overnighter camping or getting a room nearby? If camping, or even finding a room is going to be tough because of the long weekend. I recommend getting to Burleigh Falls. Lovesick Lake Camp is across the road. Some of the best shore fishing anywhere I know is right off the rocks at the Falls at this time of year too. Smallmouth, Rock Bass and even some nice sized Walleye in the evening will be there feeding in the fast water. You can have a nice lunch on shore there.

Here we go again, winds, windy and windier!
Old Ironmaker replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
Yes Pics, and the 4 of us limited out 3 days in a row. The weekend was perfect but I don't fight the folks on the water on weekends and holidays. That was the best thing about 12's. -

I actually enjoy Jr. and NFC Football better than both. These kids do if for the love of the game. Guys get shift changes to attend practice and play on weekends. You might get a Cop playing on the line next to the guy that has to get signed out of the Barton St. Pokey to play. -

Yea, as if I were her first. She still visited his Mom when she was alive. I encouraged her, I'm 62 not 22. -
If we are able to get out here Walleye fishing on the north shore of Erie, daily limits are common the last few weeks. Now that the fish are in the winds are getting silly again. 25KPH average, gusts to 50K's. Even in a 25' glass I/O trying to set lines in 4' plus waves gets ridiculous fast. I miss the calm waters and beautiful scenery of our northern and near north lakes. Erie makes Nippising look like a trout pond some days. I need to think closely about where our next chapter of life will bring us, and perhaps more importantly, the boat. My wife shows me an immaculate property on line and costs less than 1/2 the price of ours and it is absolutely great. I ask 2 questions, how close is a boat ramp and will the garage fit the trailer and boat? Rant over, thank you. Go about your business, nothing to see here. Fish Farmer and CH312 excluded, they know of what I speak of.

The CFL has been dead for the last 30 years, they just forget to lay down and go quietly. It's like your very first lover, there is always a special place for them in your heart.
