  1. Great report, Dave. Nothing like a little adventure with good buds.
  2. Sunday is the best travel day from here but I probably won't leave until Monday morning. It'll depend on how much I can get done between now and Saturday night.
  3. Yes, thankfully she was found around 8:30 Monday morning by a SAR helicopter.
  4. I was thinking the same thing.
  5. I haven't used them for bait since i was a kid but all I used to do was to turn rocks over at dusk. A dim headlight would have worked well back then if we'd have had them. There's a dude with a website who specializes in the bait and trap method and sells all you need to catch as many as you want. Edited to add: Type this "catching crawfish for bait" in your browser and the amount of info is staggering. Please note that crayfish as bait is not legal everywhere. There are also species of crayfish that should never be used as bait nor even transported to another body of water.
  6. The thing to consider is that cable has a tendency to bury itself on the spool. Also, once you've gotten a few pieces of galvanized cable in you hands, you'll probably go back the strap. But that's just my opinion.
  7. I use a strap without issues. My bunks are always in the water while winching so there's minimal weight. How much does your rig weigh?
  8. WOW! I don't know how I missed this. Sounds like a super 11 hours and for a great cause to boot. Some very nice fish there and congrats of the Atlantic!
  9. Was talking to Leslie this morning and she says that there are no fire bans in effect but one may be coming as it is very dry.
  10. The spare on my Jimmy is all snug in its zippered jammies and like new inside the vehicle .
  11. I won't touch any CTC Nautilus product whether it be a charger, tender or battery.
  12. I would say that this is your cue to start searching for plays, summer stock in some of the best fishing areas....for your wife of course.
  13. HA! Thanks Lew. I hadn't planned on bringing very many muskies back for the freezer.
  14. Then I'm off for 3 weeks. I don't have a lot planned but my first stop this year will be Lakair. I'm really looking forward to seeing some friends up there. Fishing, relaxing, catching up with friends works for me. Anyone in the area next week please feel free to drop by and say hello.
  15. Take them to Lake Manitou and your son will forever be proud to say: When I was a kid, my dad took me to the largest fresh water lake on an island in freshwater in the world. The lake trout fishing is decent too.
  16. C'mon Simon. I want to hear this too!
  17. A lie detector...pretty sad state of affairs when you need to go that far for a fishing tourney.
  18. BTW, that's a very bad hold. Are you happy now?
  19. Thanks Chris.
  20. Is it still at rumour stage or is there documentation somewhere...a pic perhaps? It'd be nice to see. OOPS, sorry Sinker...hadn't seen your post.
  21. That picture was taken yesterday. I'll bet that fish is much bigger by now.
  22. We have American plan in Canada as well y'know. Sorry, can't help with MI or WI lodge suggestions.
  23. Congrats to you Doug. Erie will be crawling with people now.
