  1. That was nice of him. His coating is pretty good, just don't add any more salt. I just bought another bag. One thing with Gronz, he tells it the way it is. The man has done a lot for us fisher people.
  2. Next year could be a different story. Start changing dates in the Reg's will only make things worse. People have enough trouble reading the regs now, especially with the exceptions and townships we don't know. But thats just my opinion.
  3. I have a 50 Honda Tiller, it's great no problems. But if I had to do it over, I'd be looking at a Merc. My Buddy's have a 50 & 75 HP tiller Merc and I hate to admit, the Merc is allot quieter than my Honda plus your buying north American. My 1 buddy lives in London and bought his at Hully Gully. Look at Roy, there is 3 more. Roy wouldn't steer you wrong, except he can keep that white stuff.
  4. Believe me Chris, if a few of the guys that went were retired, we'd be there mid week. Week-ends are crazy .
  5. Can't beat those Erie Perch . Doing the Orillia Perch Fest for 3 weeks, Simcoe Perch are not that good. I throw them all back, I get my eaters from Erie . Thanks for posting, looks like Burwell.
  6. 11 tags caught so far. Met an OFNer beside me with his son, his name is Tony, nice meeting you Tony, sorry I forgot your board name. May see you next weekend. Some pictures taken of our 2 days. Tony This is what you win if your ticket entry is pulled Picture of our group, 3 didn't get in the picture.
  7. You might think of getting the 100FT. cable. I've got the Aqua view with 50 cable and wish it was longer. My buddy has the Fish TV, it works great. They are hard to see in the sun. I use mine for ice fishing, in the hut or boat under the top. Plus if you have it on for long periods, consider an extra battery. The battery that came with mine only lasts a couple hours.
  8. Thanks guys, no tags in our boat, but I'll still be trying tomorrow. I'll post some more pictures when I get back. 10 of us going, we'll be at the Hywayman Sat. night. The pails are for our minnows, best way to keep your minnows alive with a aquarium air pump plugged in a poster box with inverter, lasts for days, a lot quieter than those small battery ones, plus pumps more air. The 3 days we fished my one buddy kept about 20 keepers on the last day. I don't keep any. Give me Lake Erie Perch any day. Simcoe Perch this time of year not much meat when there spawning. Steve, my other buddy is probably watching me type this as we speak, plus thinking I should be fishing for what I'm good at, catching Drum . One of these days I'll get Mr Spiel up there.
  9. 2 tags caught Sat.,5 tags Sun., none Mon. Tues. 70 tags to be caught I didn't get a picture of the boats Sunday, which I should have. You could have walked across the narrows. It was nice to see family's with there kids fishing, some for the first time. We talked to people back at the ramp, they were so happy getting the kids out catching fish. Lots of Perch to be caught, but small, very few big ones. In some of the shallows, the bottom was alive with Perch. Schools of Perch in the thousands were moving under our boat. It was something to see. We'll be back on the weekend to try our luck again. If you can, get out and do some Perchin, brings the kid out in you. Lots of laughs and good time. one of our boys with his winnings from last year. This picture was Mon. Back at the motel resting after a hard day of Perching
  10. Canada Dave years, I still think he lurks around. Hi Dave, hows the Harborcraft? Best Toughest boat on the water.
  11. Man, I'd like to go. Just getting back from our annual trip then, I'll try and talk sweet to the wife I've got a well used Ugly Stick thats caught a lot of Drum, suppose Roy would make a trade?
  12. So many nice places to choose. As long as I wake up on the right side of the sod every morning healthy for another 25 years, I'll drive. I've always wanted to live on Lake Simcoe. But now
  13. Where is mine????? You showed me Roys the other day, he's got 4 of yours all ready. He's not going to miss that one. I'll give you cash $15.00 under the table. Just don't tell Roy. He won't mind. Roy, you lucky guy, nice stick
  14. Well put Jocko, I feel for the tourist industry. Just have to laugh, another MNR political joke. "Rowe said the recommendation — presented to the chief and council Tuesday — to lower the commercial harvest to 41,670 kilograms comes from its natural resource committee after consultations with local gill netters." Yes that will help I'm glad they didn't go to 42,000
  15. None my end, maybe something to do with popup blocker
  16. There's a couple free launches across the street from the headquarters, a pay launch at the narrows,or free launch at I think it's called Centennial Park in Orillia just off Front street but it puts you on the Cooch side of the narrows. When launching there boating across Cooch, stay to the left going across to the narrows, couple shallow spots if you don't to the right. If you have any littles guys they can fish on the docks there for perch, they release a few tagged perch there.
  17. The derby is not for the heaviest perch, you just bring 1 small Perch to the head quarters, it goes in a release tank and you get 1 entry slip that goes in a drum then your derby registration slip is marked off for that day. 1 entry per day can go in the drum. At the end of the derby, they draw for a boat motor trailer package. My buddy was lucky, he won it last year, he never owned a boat in his life. This is him on the right when we pick it up. What a happy guy. Some of our group, the kids at the Hywayman. This was 2 weeks before he won, 2nd from the left.
  18. Jocko, I couldn't agree with you more. If you only new how many times I've been at the MNR's neck and they tell me there hands are tied. We use to do our annual Nipissing trip with 6 guys to Sturgeon Falls for years, then they brought in the slot limit. Every Walleye we caught had to be released, they were all in the slot. The only fish we could keep were some small Perch, Sunfish for a fish fry. At the end of the road near the lake and mouth of Sturgeon, at night they were loading a reefer truck full of our released Walleye 1000's of LBS. to the market. I or should I say WE pay for our fishing licenses, Cottage, food, worms, spend money in town, gas, refreshments, etc. and I can't have 1 Pickerel for a fish fry. Little to say we don't go there anymore, we go else where. It was to bad because we liked it there. To top things off that your not suppose to know about is the ghost nets that float around Nipissing that were lost, float around the lake netting fish till there full, sink to the bottom and rot, then surface again to fill again and sink. Then the politics start. If only things would change. I'll say one more word ( Caledonia ) Now where's my blood pressure pills
  19. johndox, we are in the ajoining rooms, ground floor at the back. Look for the boat that was won last year, thats us. Come over and shot the crap. Wayne, take a brake and come down. I'll have a cold one or 2 for you.
  20. HURRY up Lock this thread, and I was having a good morning.
  21. Anyone here going to the Orillia Perch Fest?? Our first trip we've planned so far is April 18,19,20,21. 6 guys staying at the Hywayman . Any more KIDS! going
  22. Thanks for sharing, nice looking spot.
  23. Looks great, good way to spend a day with your Buddy's. I wonder how many of those sausage make it on a fishin trip. You must have had to do the BBQ thing after all that hard work for taste testing I like that elec. grinder, looks heavy duty. I just bought the one CTC had on sale, hope it does the trick. I've been using the old #10 Porker manual for years, you need 3 hands. I also make my own but on a much smaller scale, soon as the shoulders come on sale for $.99 LB. Can't wait to try out the new Elec.
