  1. X2. Life is to short, get over it. I just wouldn't ask him to go fishing anymore. Case closed. No sense in creating a enemy. I was thinking the same Lew. I have a friend that has a disability that doesn't have much and it pleasure's me to take him fishing just to have him there for company. Does the heart good. I won't take anything from him. One day he surprised me and built me a rod rack out of solid Oak that holds about 30 rods with my name engraved in the wood.(Tear in my eye) Sometimes good happens to others, that do good! But most of my Buddy's know how much it costs to go fishing and help out on the gas. If the guy wasn't that flush that day don't worry, it will come out in the wash. Maybe thats just me.
  2. And if the price of gas doesn't start going down, I'll be doing my fishing here on the PC. I can only fish maybe once a week now, when I used to fish just about every day. I don't buy much tackle any more Buck, but when I do, I support my local guy
  3. Another knife in the back of the local small business
  4. Gezz Wayne, I hope I don't get caught driving in-front of you. I'm one of those old def Senior citizens driving with my left signal flashing then turn right. Tybo, after 7 to 10 minutes you would think the flasher would burn out Be a good idea thought. Except those guys driving with the BOOM BOX cranked up wouldn't hear the chime.
  5. How many times have you seen people driving with their flasher on. Theres got to be away after so many seconds you get a heads up.
  6. I had the same problem as you and like Fisherman said, it's the Maple. What you see above the ground is double below ground. In Hamilton they used to cover the cost of the Router-Rooter, but not anymore. In Hamilton, the city owns 30' from the center of the street to my house. I had to get the job done every year. The Router-Rooter guy told me if you leave the tree there, it will eventually collapse your old clay pipe, then it's the BIG job. I had one guy give me a estimate to replace the pipe, $15.000 for the fix. My beautiful Maple tree is gone. Lucky it was on my property. Was funny when the Rooter guy came to my house he said rite away, you got root problems. I said how did you know. He said Maple tree in the front yard, they got to be the worst tree for roots. I thought to myself, this is going to be interesting. Sure enough, he ran his saw cuter snake down the drain almost 30' out and bang. He pulled out about 4' of roots. I wish you luck!
  7. Jacques, I fish the Big lakes for Salmon and big Walleye, but you can give me that fishing any day. You are one lucky boy to have that near by. Thanks for sharing, love the video.
  8. Gezz Jacques, were is your garbage. You through out the best part, the skin and tail, crispy fried MMMMMgood. A little dusting with flour, salt & pepper fried in butter Speckles, nothing tastes better. But I'm sure you enjoyed just the same. I can smell them cookin here. Man you know how to make a guy hungry.
  9. You have my condolences Kelvin. I can't imagine being in your shoes. Makes one sit back and think. Sorry for your lost Kelvin.
  10. Great report and pictures Frank, thanks for sharing.
  11. Nice bunch of fish BK. Thanks for the report. Just a tip for you on freezing your fish. I put mine in freezer bags then fill with water making sure all the air is out then zip. Your fish will keep a lot longer.
  12. Nice work, can't wait to see the minnows scales on those handles Bet you can't catch Sheep-head on those rods. Did you say you wanted me to autograph them Chris Good work as usual Chris Just the Farmer pulling your chain.
  13. LTF, For me to say OK, I won't. I don't think anyone would give the OK, if anything happened they would feel responsible. I see on the other simcoe sites that operators are taking their huts out but how far??? and where exactly???? and heavy????. Sorry I can't say. Good luck Fishing Bud and Like I said be careful. I want to see your fish reports, not your name in the Obits.
  14. Should be enough now with the cold nights. When we left it was raining and melting, but it got cold that night. We had about 6" where we were. Just be careful.
  15. Great job guys well done. Who would ever think fishing in a boat down there in Jan.
  16. Thanks everyone The only down side fishnsled is the parking on the weekends No broblem Scott, glad to help because I've been in the same spot. My buddy that was with me has a GPS and has never taken it out of the box. After he seen the fog, he said he was going home and learning how to use his. You opened his eye's. Hope we meet up again. We saw 1 ATV, that was it. I don't think I'd be running around out there yet on a machine. But each his own. Not a far walk anyway. Just be careful.
  17. My buddy and myself hit Gilford yesterday, Walked out into the fog, first hole we drilled we stayed there all day with non stop bite, 18'FTW. You couldn't get your jig to the bottom before you had a fish on, it was crazy, was like that all day. My lure of choice was a micro white jig with a Perch eye. You could tease them right up into the hole. We must have filter threw hundreds to get any decent keepers. We found that fishing about 6' below the ice you could pull your jig away from the dinks to get the bigger ones. I brought around 30 home and my buddy maybe 40. It rained most of the day out there. When we left, the water was going down the hole like a toilet bowl. Ice were we fished was 6". I hope the ice holds, because it was melting fast. As we packed up, one guy came by that was lost asked which way is Gilford, good thing I had my GPS because he was heading in the opposite direction. The fog was so bad you couldn't see. Be careful out there guys. Now I got to get to work
  18. My buddy and myself are fishing Gilford tomorrow Rob, might be a little closer. I'll report how we made out. From what I've been reading, lots of small Perch being caught. We have a BIG itch to scratch
  19. Thanks Woodenboater, slip of the finger
  20. This is on the MNR Web Site Give the Tutorial video a look, you may find this very helpful Click Below My link
  21. Kinda reminds me of the icefishing derby they used to have at Keswick.
  22. You'll be out in no time. Get well soon. As said before your board name say's it all
  23. Thanks for posting Lovetofish. It does help some that travel there. Peter has saved allot of wasted trips there especially with the high gas prices and disappointed kids that have to go back home because the ice is not safe. It's great that he keeps us aware of safe ice and when we can make the trip. I check his site every day. Should be more people like him.
  24. I used one site years ago Terry, but buy the time I got there the price had gone up. Those sites kind of reminds me of the do-not-call-list. I think I get more telemarketing calls
  25. Thanks Bob, that helps to clear the air It's all about change. Old people sometimes don't like change because their programed the old way. I for one didn't like the metric system but it's a easier measurement if you can reprogram an old brain For some reason Walleye comes to mined (Pickerel) I know, Dave your an Thanks Bob
