  1. Ask Mike the owner Pete. He's a great guy and won't steer you wrong. Give you one spot, off the "A" frame at times you can catch some nice Perch, some Muskie cruse that area also. Talk to me at the meeting and I'll tell you more.
  2. I thought a Carp pulled you in, welcome back. Guys are fishing the low level for Rainbows and Browns right now Rich, if you can squeeze in. We need a good local video
  3. Man" you guys keep talking about Yak fishin, I mite even consider getting one. $1.50 a liter for gas this summer has got me thinking. What happens if you get a leg cramp in one??, old guys get them once in awhile
  4. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Good bye to good rubbish. Last time I was there, I think there was only 3 people in the hole place. Maybe our money will stay here in Canada now. We've lost to much to the south.
  5. MF. you might want to get the Ontario Out of Doors magazine Fishing Annual this month. It has a section about Kitting Out Your Kayak. Turning it into a Fishing Machine
  6. You want to smell something, "Muskie", know wonder people want to release them.
  7. Red Bead seams to work best. Split ring on with no heavier than 4LB.line.
  8. Way to go Bud. So Ya Went Dooon on yer ARESS did ya Nice Picture Brian

  10. If you live in the Hamilton area. At our club meeting on Feb. 28th. we have a guy doing a GPS seminar If this interests you. Your more than welcome to attend. I know you said your depth finder GPS combo. I have the same machine, and just getting familiar with it myself. Just trying to help.
  11. They (Jim&Clair) do run a tight ship and as you say they do watch how many fish are taken. Sometime that's a good thing. They seem to like us, he comes by and shots the crap every day. Fishing does change from year to year, you have to find them, thats what makes it challenging fun. One time their in the shallows, next deep. Price and their slot limit makes us keep going there. Plus when we go, the lake is quiet. 1st week of June, not many people.
  12. To the right Billy, The one with the Public phone at the side. I'm taking the picture This was another group with us but they had 2 cottages at the end of camp. Taking a refreshment brake from fishing, discussing our afternoon plans 16 guys total last year. This year we have the big duplex half way down the camp. Bring back memories Billy
  13. We finally got the big duplex Billy for this year 4A&4B. I think I've been in most of their cottages. The one we mostly got was across from the office, the older duplex. We have 8 guys in our group. I could do this trip every month because we have such a great time. We used to have 6 in our group but has increased to 8 now. Picture below was the first few years there.
  14. Billy, I can honestly tell you that we wouldn't have caught these if our buddy's down south hadn't gave us a few tips. The picture below is from Big Gull. I'm sad to say 2 of my buds in the picture are not with us any more, but every year we have a toast to remember their passing. Every time I look at this picture it brings a tear. Rest in peace my brothers.
  15. Our annual trip every year is Big Gull Lake the first week in June. Lake is 85% crown-land. Not lots of fish , you have to work for them. We stay at Kirk Kove Cottages. Not fancy, but we like it. Check out there site. There pictures have a few of our group shots. Take lots of worms and jigs.
  16. So that was your hole I was fishing in the other day and I washed my coffee cup out in it
  17. I think that's Port Maitland, and that fish, I've caught that Sheephead Before Another secret spot blown, I stop there every time I go fishing. But I swear I've seen that corner in Hamilton, some nice ladies hang out there And Mike Pike I'll share my spots with you, but most of the times I go home with being told you should have been here yesterday. Boy I hate the guy that said that's why it's called fishing not catching
  18. Thanks for posting Roy. I didn't know the gentleman but my heart goes out to the family, so sorry.
  19. Don't take offense. Why? If you don't want to show or help the people here, just don't post, keep it a secret. I've seen this on a few posts. Doesn't make sense to me. We've all seen fish before. Send your pictures to paint shop on your PC. Once you learn paint shop you'll be surprised what you can do.
  20. Weight of your cannon ball and speed is a big factor. At 4 MHR your ball set at 100' you may only be down 40 or 50' because of your speed and under water currant and wind. Whats up top could be different below. Don't be scared of speed sometimes, could make your day. Theres also fast baits and slow. Shark cannon balls are great for tracking but if you lose one, they are expensive. Myself I just us the cheapest ball. Draging the bottom for lake Trout can be hard on them. Temp, I don't think it matters much. When their hungry, there going to eat. Put your lure in their face, even then they will follow for miles and never hit. Watch your finder and fish above them. I could go on and on. Took me an hour to type this. But this is what I do, not saying I'm right, you may have other opinions. Enjoy another new world of fishing Good Luck, May see you on the lake
  21. Cuts down on the humm of steel cable, but could be expensive as the braid starts to brake down, "goodbye gear" I think I'll be sticking to the steel cable.
  22. All I can say Buck, the hut operators are out. Don't go on weekends, to may people. There catching lots of dinks. There was a crack to step over at shore, but not a problem. Mite want to try Virgina beach or Bolster for bigger Perch. Just always be careful.
  23. Hookerdown, when we left the snow was melting fast. I would think now it would be clear slippery ice. I've been there twice in the last 2 weeks and never seen a pressure crack. If your going this weekend, I'd take my Cleats. The place we fished was about half way between the Ferry at Virginia Beach and the tip of Duclos Pt. If your going Sat. look for the guy walking with the red & black suit, pail in hand and auger over the shoulder. Come by and shot the crap.
  24. Was there Tues. Snow was melting fast. We had about 12" of ice. We fished between shore and all the huts. I wanted to stay away from all the commotion. We fished in about 7' of water. Water was nice and clear. We don't use minnows, just a micro jig with micro twister tail 3LB test. When I get a keeper Perch, I stick a Perch eye on the hook. We watch down the hold and pull the jig away from the small fish hoping for the bigger ones. Red jig with a white Twister seamed to be the ticket. We saw a few monster Pike swim through. The pike seem to be in closer to shore. Take your cleats this week. I'll most likely be there Sat. with a few buds. I'll be closer to Duclas Pt. Blue Clam Guide. If you see a guy walking around drilling with a Red and black suit looking for Perch. It's me.
