  1. I agree with just about every color already mentioned but as also said WORM HARNESS have out fished all other baits combined the last 3 - 4 years. Go Figure...........
  2. Cabela's has a LARGE selection of St Croix rods. A bit expensive for my taste but if you can afford it go for it. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to get to the St Croix rods. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...rentId=cat20166
  3. I never seen a 24 volt "battery". But if you are hooking up a 12 volt motor to a 24 volt system bad things can happen, bad things........... ........ .....
  4. I am bilingual (English & Canadian) but I have no idea what your trying to say........
  5. The correct way is through the carb while it's running. But to do this on my '85 Johnson it's a pain so I just run the gas out of the carb on my last time out for the year. Then I remove both spark plugs and fog each cylinder. Now turn the motor over by hand using the flywheel. This is easily done with the plugs removed. Replace the plugs and spark plug wires. Now drain and refill lower unit. If your motor has any grease fittings pump new grease into each fitting until the old grease comes out and you are done.........
  6. I have to agree 100%. If you want to charge your trolling motor batteries from you outboard it can be done and done the correct way but it gets a bit pricey. Not worth it in my opinion but here's the info if your interested. http://myweb.cableone.net/jonestrollingmot...57e29178-9.html
  7. For MANY years we would have about 8 - 12 guys every year sleep in our vans at Godfrey Point on Oneida Lake for the opening weekend of walleye season. We would get out early (4:30am) and fish to light then come back to Godfrey Point (very small harbor) for breakfast and the ALWAYS entertaining launchers there. We would set up our folding chairs and coolers with adult refreshments and enjoy the fun. We were never disappointed. Sometimes this was as much fun as the fishing. Over the years I had seen it all at the launch site. I miss that now that I'm older and no longer willing to sleep in a van for the weekend..... getting old sucks..
  8. He know needs another downrigger for the other side (Father's Day)

  10. Ohhhhhhhhh......... I thought this was going to be about Yak meat
  11. I have to agree with everything else you said except this quote. With a 26 degree dead rise which is much greater than most (all) fishing boats it will actually cut through the waves much better giving it's passengers a much smoother ride and much less stressful on the boat's hull. It more like a knife cutting through the water than a paddle being slapped on the surface of the water. Bob
  12. I hate to tell you this but what you have there is a water thief. You must stake out the area in the middle of the night (best times midnight until 4am) and wait for the water thief to show. Once captured you have to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. Let us know how you make out.........
  13. Stayed a couple times at the Beachwood Inn on Lower Buckhorn Lake. Did pretty good with walleye in that bay that the lodge is on off of Lower Buckhorn Lake. Fish the weed edges with a black bucktail jig tipped with just a pinch of nightcrawler.
  14. Big Gull Lake.........http://www.kirkkovecottages.com/
  15. As long as you don't get thunder storms, rain, wind and overcast is the BEST walleye weather you could ask for. A good muggy, windy day is walleye heaven. Once that cold front clears and the rain is gone and replaced with mile high sunny sky's you're in trouble. Yea it's a nice day to be out in the boat but the fishing is going to suck.
  16. This is a common problem with power driven trolling motors. You might want to think about going to a cable steer trolling motor. They don't use precious battery power to steer and the steering is much faster to react. That is why 95% of all pros use cable steering trolling motors.
  17. Here in NYS we now have a 25 fish creel limit with 9" minimum length. That good fish management IMHO. My favorite lake "Chautauqua Lake" WAS fantastic for crappie years ago (fishing it for over 30 years) and it held up very well against tremendous pressure. However, the cottage association there started to spray the weeds along the shore line with Diaquat (sp) in the late '80's with the DEC permission. The loss of vegetation plus the chemicals really put a hurt on the fishing there. Two walleye clubs took on the DEC and the cottage association and got Diaquat banned after proving it was a dangerous chemical (you would think the DEC would of been on our side, but the cottage association had BIG MONEY). So the cottage association got another chemical from Texas call Aquathol K and used it for a couple of years until again the two walleye clubs got together for a second time and got that chemical banned. Now the cottage association has SEVERAL weed cutters on the lake and are cutting the weeds along the shore line DAILY which still kills the habitat of small (fry) fish, especially the crappie that spawn in those weeds. As you can guess the crappie fishing has NEVER been the same. Where at one time you could get a boat full of crappie, now you struggle to catch a meals worth. Bottom line is PROTECT the habitat of pan fish just like game fish or you lake will suffer. Bob
  18. Or a LMS 520c unit, but good luck finding either right now. Lowrance stopped making them for the HDS units. I think I got the last 520 unit in April from Reeds for the bow of my boat. Just finished networking it to the 520 on the console. Great combo having both units networked together sharing waypoints and transducers. Hopefully Lowrance gets all the bugs out of their HDS units but they should never have released them with all the problems they are having, especially when they knew they had a software problem of not being able to read Navionics maps. Now the one good thing about the HDS units besides the fantastic clarity is that sometime this year they are releasing a add on that will make the HDS units into side scanners just like the VERY expensive Humminbird units. How much this add on option will cost is anyone's guess. I heard that they purchased the technology from Humminbird. Bob
  19. Get one that doesn't leak and go catch a fish.......
  20. I am also a big Lowrance fan but the HDS units are having a TON of problems. Some are even filling up with water when it rains. They are NOT compatible with Navionics maps. They are working on a software update that was suppose to come out in April.....now sometime in May. Here's a site that talks about the many issues the HDS units are having. http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zeroforum?id=13
  21. I only wish what you said was true...... MANY have tried just what you said and now are in Federal Prison. Taxes are are necessary but enough is enough already. I have read all the other post that support this legislation and believe me, they don't hold water........ When they get older they will see how much the government is in their pockets and telling them it's for their own good.....LOL
  22. As always these government regulations are free or inexpensive but they grow like cancer. Every three years we pay, and pay through the nose and get nothing in return. Fight this stuff with everything you got. When the government needs money they just increase the fees and or add a surcharge to your boat registration. We have surcharges now on just about everything including your drivers license, your car registration, your boat registration, your trailer registration, your auto insurance..........it goes on and on. They NEVER have enough money from us.......
  23. I see several problems with your outlook. First and forth most is there is a huge difference in the government taking your money and losing it at a casino. You don't have a choice once the government starts taxing/fees on something. You don't have to go to the casino but you do have to pay the tax man. TAXES never go DOWN.........only up.....WHY.......I guess there programs aren't working, are they.... Giving away money to welfare/disability recipients that never payed into the program is wrong with a few exceptions. However, it's the norm not the exception that is running you into the most tax country in the world. Your country and mine have GENERATIONS of these FREE LOADERS living off of government programs and that is also very wrong. I only want to keep what is mine. I will take care of my family and just want to be left alone by the government. Stop telling me I have to pay even more for someone else to live... I didn't have 8 kids because I knew I couldn't afford 8 kids. Instead I had 2 and housed them, feed them, clothes them and sent them to college WITHOUT any government help..... If I can do so can you... Stop looking for a free money give away. What if we ALL just stopped being productive and waited for the mailman to bring the check. What then ? ? ?
  24. WOW, I am very surprised how many here on in favor of this Bull. In NYS I just paid $46 to register my boat (3 year renewal). It was $18 then DOUBLED and a $10 surcharge was also added = $46. You know what I get now that it more than DOUBLED.........you guessed it NOTHING just like when it was only $18. I read years ago that our government spends $1.31 for every dollar they collect.... just more WASTE of my hard earned dollars..... DON'T let this happen. And for those of you that need your GOVERNMENT to take care of you, you must still be wet behind the ears..... all your fellow Canadians are taking care of you.....Why can't you take care of yourself ? ? ? I have a feeling this thread will not last long..........
  25. "Brown" trout are not native to North American. I believe they were introduced from Germany in the 1800's......
