I think municipalities should sell advertisement to lower cost...just think about it....a Police Car with a advertisement sign on the back bumper area saying "Follow me to Tim Horton's".....

Fished Stoney the last two years....never had trouble catching Largemouth or Smallmouth. The walleye fishing IMHO is VERY good once you learn the pattern of the lake...never caught a muskie there but I don't try...also a very good bluegill and crappie population there...as far as the rocks, etc...get yourself a Stoney Lake map chip for your GPS unit...it will save you from a prop repair and put more fish in the boat. My guess is they call you the "Mayor" because the "Journalist" didn't fit....they call you the "Mayor" because the "Ambassador" didn't fit...they call you the "Mayor" because the "Association Rep" didn't fit....they call you the "Mayor" because you think you are and you 'AREN'T"..

Here's what we do with venison Back Straps for our fishing trips.....we make Spiedie's. Take the lion and cut up into 1" cubes and put them either in a large jar, like a mayo jar or just a zip lock plastic bag...now pour over SPIEDIE Sauce and store in the fridge overnight....then take the cubes and put them on a skewer and cook over a charcoal grill (propane OK). When done put the skewer on a hoagie roll and pull out the skewer...this will be the best SPIEDIE hoagie you ever had. Here's more about Spiedie Sauce and if you Google it you will find a lot more including a Spiedie Festival. http://www.spiedie.com/Merchant5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=S&Category_Code=SS

I have heard there are no fish at all in the Niagara River....

April is usually the month for the spring smelt run.....The Niagara Rivers Association usually has a smelt fry as a fund raiser on the Lewiston Landing.

The truck going through the ice is a ACCIDENT.....just like when two vehicles hit head on and all their fluids you described are spilled on the ground including anti-freeze, oil, gasoline, etc......

Harmonized tax non-resident fishing trip rebate
Billy Bob replied to seanik's topic in General Discussion
You could consider it a INSTANT rebate when you come here and isn't the BEST kind where NO paper work is involved.......got your attention but somewhat true........most items here cost much less here then in Canada and our sales tax rates is MUCH lower than all your GST, HST, PST or whatever.....isn't that the reason you come here to purchase the items in the first place is because it cost much less..... I know you wouldn't come all the way over here if it were to cost you more. Just gasoline alone is a big savings......I live near the Sam's Club in Cheektowaga and have to visit there often for my own shopping but also for the fire department and the parking lot is packed with Canadian licensed cars, plus I notice they like to fill up with gasoline before heading back home....this is good, no ? Oh, OK.......guess I posted something not good between the hours of 11:51am and 5:00pm as it's no longer here......

Harmonized tax non-resident fishing trip rebate
Billy Bob replied to seanik's topic in General Discussion
Well, I really think we do pay for the Canadian product but you want me to pay for something I'm not entitled to...like your health care, etc.... BUT anyways where are the rebates that this thread is about....I must be missing them somewhere as I really can't find the GST or PST or HST or any other ST tax rebate program....seriously. Bob -
Harmonized tax non-resident fishing trip rebate
Billy Bob replied to seanik's topic in General Discussion
OK, I just went through as much as possible the link provided by ketchenany and going from link to link all I see is that the rebate program for visitors is CANCELLED as of 2008........anyone have any more info that this rebate program is really still ongoing.....here's the link I'm referring to and you can go around and around but I see no rebate program now in effect... http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tpcs/gst...s/menu-eng.html And now for those who asked why rebates for non-citizens and not for Canadian Citizens....well there looks like a LOT of rebates available for them as well....see here.. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tpcs/gst...nwhsng-eng.html http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tpcs/gst...b/menu-eng.html http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tpcs/gst...prtnrs-eng.html http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tpcs/gst...l/menu-eng.html http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tpcs/gst...ntlrbt-eng.html http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tpcs/gst...r/menu-eng.html http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tpcs/gst...s/mply-eng.html http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tpcs/gst...s/menu-eng.html and there are more.......... -
Harmonized tax non-resident fishing trip rebate
Billy Bob replied to seanik's topic in General Discussion
In the past with a the GST you had two ways of recouping your money....stopping at the duty free store on the Canadian side and doing the paper work right there and then standing in line (sometimes long) and you would get your money right then and there...Or what I would do mostly is fill out the paper work (some businesses would give you the proper paper work to take with you) and just mailing it in and in about 2 months you got a check from the Canadian government that was already adjusted to US dollars when you cashed it in at your bank....then for a few years they did away with the GST rebate and then brought it back on a limited basis...... So is this new HST rebate program a permanent rebate program or just a limited one while the economy sucks....... BTW the reason the Canadian government gives back some of the tax money to non-residents is we don't fully get the benefits that Canadian citizens get, like your government run health care program AND it makes it a little more attractive to visit Canada that charges a LOT more for the same thing in the USA. -
Actually the only thing really needed in the brine is salt and water.......I have found 1/4 cup of Kosher Salt to one gallon of water is the perfect mixture.......but I do like to add 1 cup of brown sugar to the brine....let it soak overnight in the fridge.....just before smoking rinse with water and dry off real good with paper towels.......I fillet my fish but leave the skin on with of course the skin side down when smoking. BTW I think white fish is by far the #1 fish to smoke.....pike and large walleyes from Lake Erie are also good with of course trout and salmon be right up there too. Bob

And at the end of the day when you didn't catch anything at least you have the rice to eat...
-
When someone or a organization says "we shouldn't allow ice fishing because it will endanger the fish population but then goes on and says we should lift the limits of these same fish that they are worried about during the ice fishing season"....well that's just a self serving way for their own personal monetary gains and I am SURE the Ontario Fish and Game Department sees right through that Bull.... I don't think you have anything to worry about....the ice fishing season is NOT going away and the limit will stay where it is at (300) which is a RIDICULOUS HIGH amount.
-
I didn't VOTE because I didn't like either choice as I have hooked and landed 2 muskies over the years while fishing for crappies on Chautauqua Lake...Both times using a light rod and 4# line and each time I release the fish unharmed...
-
Personally I like hot dogs and Sahlen's are the best but when push comes to shove I love a good Italian sausage better...
-
I see your point here but it's not happening on my end of 35 years of using it.......I have seen a HIGH increase in bites, which result in a higher catch rate....I really wish what you were saying was true because the loop knot is inferior to many other knots......if you take a bullet head jig and tie a improved clinch knot, after a very short time the jig will hang wrong and catch much less fish.....but the knot is much better strength wise......even using the loop knot while fineness fishing with small 1/64 or 1/32 jigs for crappies really pays off as this is my specialty. But if anyone would rather use other knots I AM ALL FOR IT....
-
I have to disagree since I use a double improved clinch knot when ever I don't need the loop knot and the loop knot doesn't even come close to the clinch knot strength. These are the only two knot I use 98% of the time........for body baits and jigging spoons etc.....I use a VERY SMALL Berkeley Cross Lock snap....as shown here....http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20293&id=0042807114447a&navCount=1&podId=0042807&parentId=cat20293&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IA&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true SIZE #1 is good for any body baits or jigging spoons when fishing walleye or bass. If I'm trolling for salmon or pike I move up to #3. Bob

It might be a little early for boat listings in the Buffalo News (by far the biggest paper here, after that it just local town papers) but here's there listings and below it I also supplied their main page where at the TOP RIGHT you will find the link for classified adds. http://www.buffalonews.com/classified/ http://www.buffalonews.com/ Bob

Bush has about 7-10 different varieties of their beans....it's not hard to find one you love.

That's old news on that board....but I did personally deal with Linda Colt...well, actually I emailed her that I was losing bottom readings in very shallow water and in thick weeds with my at that time brand new LMS 520C unit....without anything but that email she wrote back if I give her my address a new on will be on it's way.....5 days later I had a brand new unit and a tag to send my old unit back to them at NO COST to me....it didn't get any better than Linda. Bob

I almost always use the knot you have show above while jig fishing for walleye or crappies....I believe it's the Rapala Knot......HOWEVER, it a weak knot losing almost half of the line strength. Bob
