  1. Mike, it isn't just you. I transferred ours to a well washed plastic peanut butter jar and it works great.
  2. Happy Birthday Roy
  3. Hmmm Everybody? I do believe there at least a few posts suggesting that he pay it.

If you are looking to get some local, Hammerhead Lures has them Sabiki Rigs
  5. Nice pictures and fish Glen. Looks like it was a lovely Alabama day!! about picture #13...could use a wee bit of editing lol
  6. Hey Ryan, Welcome to the Community! Looking forward to reading some reports and maybe a few pictures. I am not familiar with the area so can't help ya out, and then there is the little issue that anything with the name Scugog attached to it hates me
  7. The "old Marina" is still off limits officially. Security still patrols the area and I have seen them "kickout" anglers fishing the restricted area, have even seen police appear. If you are fishing the river mouth/harbor then you should be fine. The police do check the area from time to time but haven't heard of any problems. Not sure what happened in the area you were fishing or who that person was. Hope you are able to get it sorted out.
  8. Hey Little Angler Hope the finger is alright. You have been given good reasons for going to the Dr to get it checked out, listen to us old people, we know things LOL As for the fishing.....when there is a will there is a way! Best of luck to you!! psssst Ice and Advil are your friends
  9. LOL Snag That brace and I are going to be together for some time yet.
  10. I am quite certain that many many others would have the honour of big fish for the week but thanks Mike
  11. Thank you everyone! It was a very nice surprise to pull that in. The fish took several runs and stayed deep, just when I thought it was ready, it would peel off again, nice tussle on the lighter gear I was using. Fishnsled, definitely good that Cliff was with me, needed a good net man
  12. http://www.ofah.org/FishResources/index.cf...=7&RecID=44 This is what I found for the current Ontario 2.71 lbs Here is the link to download an application...assume the "rules" will be there also.... PDF Application
  13. Nice job Will....love the action shots...looking forward to the Fly in report. I think I may have seen a teaser pic from that report??
  14. 5) Can they be netted and if so, what kind of net should one use?
  15. No way, a fellow OFNer would never do that!
  16. Since I have never boated one, I might not be entitled to add my opinion but why not I would never say that a legally hooked and boated fish does not count, however, had I been asked this question two years ago, I might have thought it wasn't as "impressive". I have since had the pleasure of learning to use down riggers and planers (Thanks Brian!) and have spent many hours reading over the Trolling Bible. I have a greater appreciation for the work and knowledge that it takes to troll successfully. I have tried trolling on a few musky outings with Cliff and if it was all luck, I believe that Cliff would have boated about 20 by now LOL Fish caught while with a guide... Why shouldn't they count. The guide has the skill and the knowledge but once that fish is on the line, it is up to the client to bring it in. To me, it isn't any different then going out with an experienced angler friend that sets you up for the day. Thanks again Scotty for my first steelhead, Brian for my first Salmon and Will, thank you for taking me musky hunting and for your patience, I promise to try harder
  17. Try it, you just might like it Don't feel "chicken", you are cheating yourself. Don't set the drag too tight, keep a good grip on your fishing pole and the worst that can happen, you get spooled. Carp are fun to catch and a good way to get more comfortable "fighting" bigger fish. Good luck!
  18. Well done Lexx! Nice to see some pretty fish
  19. Hey Johnny When I first started carp fishing, I was using 6lb mono on a 12'6 rod (my trout set up). After landing a few 25lbers on that, I realized that it was taking a long time to get the fish in and IMHO putting too much stress on the fish and the gear. I enjoy fishing for carp but there was no way I was going to ruin my trout gear to do it I then switch to a heavier but shorter set up that I had and heavier mono. Worked alright but in the more productive locations, I was losing more fish than I was landing and as you mentioned, the loops. I needed a stronger line to be able to apply more pressure to keep the fish away from the many obstacles.....logs, shopping carts, docks to name a few. Clerk at the local tackle shop gave me some PP to try since visibility does not seem to be an issue with carp. Worked very well with fewer lost fish. I also began using a spring feeder with my presentation, needed a lower lb leader to prevent the loss of a feeder with every break off. Tried a mono leader, was alright but the PP was again the better choice for me. Thus, the boring evolution of my carp gear LOL I still lose a carp now and then but usually due to a bad hook set or as with my second fish last night, drag was too tight. I often choose line based on the type of fish I am targeting with special consideration as to where I will be fishing.
  20. Morning Tom I thank you for comments. I would like to clear up a few things. Neither Ccmt or I referred to this Angler by an inappropriate name, challenge his ethics or comment on him as a person in any fashion. You may have not been referring to us with your comments however the use of "you and "your" throughout the post does seem to imply that. Our boat was positioned behind his because we arrived only a moment after him. We pulled in BEHIND him with the intention of waiting our turn. There was no reason to pull ahead of him and even IF we thought there was need to pull ahead of him, there were other watercraft in front of him at the time we all arrived. He was still in his boat as we were tying up our lines, we had no way of knowing that his boat was going to swing out. When his boat first began to swing out from the dock, a few bystanders (myself included) were more concerned that the boat had come loose and was going to float away. I suppose I could have started my boat, untied the lines and attempted to move our boat but I was busy trying to decide if there was a need to assist this boat from floating away. Again, a bystander noticed that the boat was secured with whatever that bar is called and we realized that it was not going to drift away from the dock entirely but by then it had swung a 180 into our boat. I was doing my best to keep the boats apart while attempting to release our bowline in preparation of moving our boat....during the process, I could hear one of the anglers rewmen (guessing this as he was wearing the same jersey and helping) and a bystander discussing the situation. Quick version..the crewman expressed that everything was just fine and had no worries about the boats hitting, that is what the bumpers were for. I decided to snap a few pictures, as yes, I was annoyed and the pictures helped me laugh about it. I have never commented negatively in reference to tournament anglers, I personally do not have any issues with them as a group, I respect their abilities and contributions to the sport. I have watched the loading and unloading of the tourney boats on previous occasions...it is impressive. I wish the guy no ill will and there is not, nor was there ever any intention of contacting anyone regarding the matter to make trouble for him. Ccmt overheard him say "It's my own fault, I got caught chatting or I'd be out of the water already", would have been nice if that had been said to us rather than what we did hear regarding his boat hitting ours ("that is what bumpers are for"). The incident would have been forgotten I have learned a few things from this experience and for that I thank him. Have a great day Tom.
  21. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing those, looks like it was a nice display
  22. The more of your reports I read, the more I am thinking that there just might be something to this "Lew O'Clock" thing The sunrise shot is beautiful. Congrats on the fish Lew
  23. I am so jealous :thumbsup_anim: Great pictures and fish guys!!
  24. LOL Gerritt The boat is fine, it is more that someone would just leave a boat swaying like that at a launch. I will admit that after pushing it away a few times I was sort of wishing it would just float away. I then decided that a few pictures would be more entertaining. Cliff and I have many adventures to share with the boat and I see this as just one of them. Side note... The bowmount rocks! Felt like a kid at Christmas. Oh, and Lake Scugog still hates me LOL Spending the day with Spiel doesn't sound sooo bad
  25. Fantastic news! Thank you for taking the time to share that and I hope that it brings good things Rick's way.
